TELEVISION ADS RUNNING IN LOWCOUNTRY MUNICIPAL SHOWDOWN …

|| By FITSNEWS || One of the candidates for mayor of Charleston, S.C. is running a television ad in which voters make fun of his name.

John Tecklenburg – a wealthy local businessman – has an ad out in which voters struggle to correctly pronounce his distinctive surname.

Tecklen-bug, Tickle-burg, Ticklin-burger, Tacklenburg, Tinkleburg, Tecklenbuzz are among the various guesses … with the candidate appearing on the screen several times to remind them of the correct pronunciation.

There’s some “message” associated with the advertisement, with one voter saying Tecklenburg is “focused on our city.”

“John really cares about people,” another says.

Yet another adds “he’s going to make this place livable again.”

Take a look …

Hmmmm …

We can’t decide whether this ad is awful or brilliant … but we suspect it will play well with voters in the Holy City.

Also running for this seat?  Fifth-term S.C. Rep. Leon Stavrinakis (the frontrunner), businesswoman Ginny Deerin (who ran unsuccessfully for S.C. Secretary of State last year), Charleston city councilman William Dudley Gregorie and businessman and community leader Maurice Washington.

Joe Riley has served as Charleston’s mayor since December 1975.  The 72-year-old politician announced last year he would step down at the end of this – his tenth term.

It’s a shame your dad couldn’t sweep your dirt under the rug like mine did.

Ginny Deerin (who ran unsuccessfully for S.C. Secretary of State last year)……” This is the understatement of the year. Unsuccessful is putting it nicely. She was curb stomped in that election. Probably had to do with those god awful ads with Jenny Sanford.

She has plenty of horrible ads this time on her own. Seems like a lot of pro-drilling Republicans are contributing to her campaign.
