|| By FITSNEWS || Retired neurosurgeon and top tier 2016 presidential candidate Ben Carson is walking back his recent comments regarding whether a Muslim is fit to lead America.
“I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that,” Carson told NBC host Chuck Todd earlier this week.
During a follow-up interview with Fox News, though, Carson revisited that remark …
“We do not put people at the leadership of our country whose faith might interfere with them carrying out the duties of the Constitution,” Carson told Fox’s Sean Hannity.
And while Carson said that applied to all faiths, he once again singled out Islam – prompting the host to throw him a rope.
“Did you mean to say radical Islamist?” Hannity asked Carson.
“That was implied,” he responded.

“Reducing the adverse impact of government on our liberties and our prosperity is a cause that knows no color, creed, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation,” we wrote in response to Carson’s initial comments. “It is by definition an effort that is available to all people – and which seeks to make life better for all people. And yes … part of that effort must involve stemming the tide of illegal immigration, and the government policies which incentivize it.”
Again, though, it’s doubtful Carson’s comment – or his caveat – will hurt his campaign. If anything, we suspect the controversy will help him among GOP primary voters.

You probably personally know as many American Muslims as I do – None. On the other hand, I personally know a lot of American “Christians” who I have no use for at all.
I know and worked with quite a few American muslims and they are some of the most vile and hateful people I have ever met. Not friendly, would not listen to the female managers, had no respect for fellow female employees or customers, thought the world owed them a favor. And the women muslims that I knew were always sad and depressed, could not discipline their kids. Not a group of people I would want representing/ruling this country. I prefer to be able to drive, vote, go out in public without my husbands permission and choose not to worship as I please.

I don’t see where he made a mistake in what he said, per se. His only mistake was not anticipating the inevitability of his opposition turning what he said into what he didn’t say. He isn’t “walking back” anything he said. He’s merely clarifying. Not that that means anything to those who already don’t like him.
Yes, if what he said is perceived as a mistake , it has to be clarified. And you are right that the press and his opposition did twist it a bit. But we know that anything a Republican Candidate says out there is going to be picked apart and misconstrued. I actually heard his comment when he first made it and I guess I filled in the blanks and interpreted it as a statement that was OK, because I know what he meant. The press will not be that kind.
