BAD MOON RISING?
|| By FITSNEWS || The doomsday prophecies are back … and if you believe them, you’ve got less than a week to get your affairs in order.
Monday, September 28 marks the “fourth blood moon of the tetrad,” a phenomenon certain soothsayers believe corresponds with the end of days. It also corresponds with a Jewish holiday, like the first three “blood moons” of the tetrad did.
Hold up … what is a blood moon?
It’s a full lunar eclipse (a.k.a. when the earth passes between the sun and the moon). Because light bends, though, the sun’s rays curve around the planet causing the moon to appear red.
And what is a “tetrad?” It’s when four “blood moons” occur in close succession – as has happened just three times over the last five hundred years or so.
The first blood moon of the current tetrad took place on April 15, 2014 (corresponding with the feast of Passover), while the second took place on October 8, 2014 (corresponding with the feast of Sukkot). The most recent blood moon took place on April 4, 2015 (again corresponding with Passover).
So … is the end nigh?
“We’ve been down this road before,” said Robert Fraser, author of the book Marketplace Christianity. “Decade after decade Evangelicals have filled the bestseller lists with failed predictions of death and disaster followed by continued warnings that, even though it didn’t happen this time, the end is very near and something to be feared.”
According to Fraser, doomsday predictions aren’t helping Christianity’s cause.
“We must engage the culture with hope, not retreat in fear with our bags packed, waiting for Jesus to bring a miserable end to history,” Fraser said. “The reason Christianity has lost influence in society is because the Church has retreated into a bunker mentality.”
Well, that and the faith continues to be used and abused by sanctimonious (usually hypocritical) politicians …
We’ve never subscribed to doomsday predictions. Nor should anyone professing to be a Christian.
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father,” Jesus Christ told his disciples, according to the Gospel of Matthew. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.”
Seems pretty clear to us …

Like I posted on the topic of the Middle East “migration” earlier:
Today is Yom Kippur and the Pope is arriving in the USA (probably as I’m writing this)
Coincidence??????
Perhaps………..Perhaps not………………………..
It looks kind of garnet, against a black background. Definitely spells doom.
You suck – that’s funny, but you still suck.
The Gamecocks suck, fake colonel. Back to normal.

I can’t fricking stand Michael Stipe of REM (to describe him as a douche does disservice to douches) so I’ve dropped “End of the World” as my “doom and disaster” theme song in favor Barry McGuire’s “Eve of Destruction”. Keep telling us we’re on the edge Will, one day you might get it right…

Anything by MegaDeath :)
That would just make me want to take a drill bit to my ear drums
Turn it up loud enough, and you won’t need to.
Even during my rock and roll days I wore hearing protection to concerts. At 53 my hearing is better than most of the young men and women trying to enter the Army these days.
I went to a WAR concert in the late ’70s and foolishly stood too close to one of those monster amps the whole time. Diminished my hearing in my left ear, considerably. About 40% loss.
Actually not a big metal fan. Just thought the name was appropriate for the topic. Now Rush, always found their volume levels to be good – not too loud. But there were never any chicks at the shows.
Fuck off already, you old ass turds. We all know you were all lame as fuck when you were younger and now you spend all day rockin and rollin with me in the FitsNews comments section. Laughable.
You’re so much cooler on-line.
Not while there’s internet radio, satellite radio and DirecTV’s music channels………………………
“you old ass turds”
Yeah, like there’s any other kind of ass turds.
You’re such a fart smeller, pogo.
You are right. I am dumb and a sexual deviant. I troll this sight daily because I am a loser at life.
Hell Yeah. Rust in Peace!
Though it has been much derided, “Eve of Destruction” is a good rock song. With some truth in it.
I like REM. Don’t know much about Stipe, so I don’t have an opinion one way or the other. Sometimes I like music by douches. One of my favorites of all times is a prize douche: Van Morrison. Even John Lennon was a douche in many ways. This is why I don’t idolize rock stars, in general.
I don’t idolize rock stars either but I sure wish Duane Allman was still around.
That day in late October 1971 was when the “music died” for me…………
Another reason late October makes my antenna perk up
Got high with both of those boys backstage at the Love Valley rock festival in NC. Yes, when Duane died it was a sad time.
The guy who discovered his body, their road manager Bunky Odum, was the son of my dad’s best friend back in Laurinburg NC, Bunk Odum.
Doom and Disaster songs???
Believe it or not, Johnny Paycheck made one WAY the fuck back in the early ’60’s called The Cave”
Being the scarred for life “duck and cover ” boomer that I am, I remembered that song as a kid and thanks to “google” and the almighty internet I listened to it again some months ago for the first time in 50+ years………….
And if you EVER get the chance to see the movie “Threads” (it’s hard to find even on the internet let alone DVD/VHS; you used to be able to watch it on “youtube” but the entire movie has been blocked as far as I know). DON’T watch it if you or someone is suicidal or easily depressed. It will fuck up your entire day if you aren’t prepared for it.
“Threads” makes “On the Beach” and “the Day After” look like Disney movies….
As well as it should…………
“I’ve been scared several times in my life (in and out of the military) but never as scared as a young “bulletproof” paratrooper during the Yom Kippur Alert in October 1973 – I got on my knees and prayed to God Almighty to let that pass”
Sez “Sparklecity”
And most important…. He answered my prayer………………………..
“Threads” lives — on Vimeo:
https://vimeo.com/18781528
I guess if you listened to “The Cave” after watching “Threads” you’d need some serious prescription anti-depressant pills fer sure………
It’s hard to believe Johnny Paycheck’s been around that long but he has……
And he’s got the looks to prove it!!!!!
He’s the real deal, though.
No argument there…………
Thing is, a lot of the “Outlaws” were around long before they became “outlaws”

+1 just because of the REM hate
I was in Athens going to (gasp) UGA in 79-80 during the heyday of the B-52s and the early days of REM. Stipe was an asshat then and he’s gotten worse as he got older. REM is still a self absorbed “beer band” pretending to have cultural relevance at least the B-52s knew how to party.
Blood coming out of the moon? Dang – that Trump is a God@!!!
Trump is leading the GOP to annihilation on a national level.
We don’t need a sign from the Heavens to know that!
If Trump were running as a Democrat the right would say it’s a sign of the end of times.
More Stereotypes about Christians
Robert Fraser said. “The reason Christianity has lost influence in society is because the Church has retreated into a bunker mentality.”
————————————–
Frazer is reading too many books, websites and watching too much TV.
He needs to go to church. I’ve never been in a church where the pastor has predicted a time for the end. Never told me to withdraw from society and live in a bunker….
No one will buy a book in which the author claims he doesn’t know when the end comes. Just not exciting enough.
Honestly curious…did you not get a sermon a year or two ago that said the government was planning to force military members to stop witnessing to their fellow soldiers on the job…as if the ‘pastors’ telling this and the church members listening did not realize that when you are at work, you are being paid to work, not tend to any and all personal business, including proselytization ?
The person who was telling me about it was concerned because she was trying to identify countries to flee to if this came about. And, she was a Master’s level educator.
I’m curious if this stuff bleeds into the mainstream or stays in the fundamentalist churches?
I heard about restrictions even on military chaplains proselytizing, even when a soldier comes to him for counseling.
It is often hard to find the line that separates work and free time when you’re required to live on a base.
There is an attitude among many that there exist a right not to be offended. Religious speech should not be treated any different than any other non-work related speech.
I hear these discussions at church, but not from the pulpit.
It also corresponds with a Jewish holiday, like the first three “blood moons” of the tetrad did.
————————————
Jewish holidays occur according to the lunar calendar. Nothing unusual here.
Doomsday you say? Not soon enough!
The main even is Godzilla vs the Super Blood Moon! Even if the Tetrad of the Blood Moons fizzles. We can still look forward to rain of almost Biblical proportions which may accompany the Godzilla El Nino.
Is it called a “Blood Moon” because it sits up there in the sky look8ng like a giant “period”?
These fundamentalists (can’t we stop calling them ‘evangelicals’? That really don’t seem to come out of their enclaves/churches/cliques much to spread the Word.) might as well be squatting around a campfire in loincloths and grunting at each other…kind of like their cousins depicted in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’.
Why is it that every generation that comes thinks that THEY are in the end times? People a thousand years ago thought that Jesus was going to make his second coming within their lifetime, how did that turn out?
Or the “Great Disappointment” back in the 1800’s which begat the 7 Day Adventists after the participants didn’t “go up”
