YES … AND HERE’S WHY …
|| By ROBERT ROMANO || “It’s still different for women. It’s only a woman whose appearance would be talked about while running for president — never a man. And that’s what women understand.”
That was Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina appearing on CNN’s “New Day” on September 17, referencing Donald Trump’s comments about her face in a Rolling Stone interview, claiming no male candidate for president has ever had his appearance talked about.
Was Fiorina born yesterday?
In fact, the appearance of presidential candidates, and presidents, for that matter, rightly or wrongly has been a topic of great interest since at least 1960, in the famous Septempber 26 debate of that year between John Kennedy and Richard Nixon.
It was the first televised presidential debate in history. Nixon is thought to have lost the debate if, for no other reason, than he looked terrible. He was recovering from the flu, he had a 5 o’clock shadow, and to top it off, he didn’t use any television makeup despite appearing under very bright lights.
By contrast, Kennedy looked well-rested and energetic compared to Nixon’s exhaustion. And, with 70 million people watching the debate, it made a difference in the race. Kennedy went from being slightly behind in the polls to slightly ahead afterward. Then, appearance mattered.
One can go back slightly further in history to the presidency of Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt, who suffered from polio, did not want the nation to know he was paralyzed. So, whenever he appeared publicly, long before he ever ran for president, it was with the assistance of braces so he could stand.
In fact, according to a CNN interview with filmmaker Ken Burns, citing rare 1937 footage of Roosevelt struggling to walk at a baseball game, “Burns said footage of Roosevelt struggling to move is rare because the Secret Service either prohibited or confiscated cameras at the time to minimize the public’s knowledge of the devastating effects that polio had had on him. The media complied with the request.” Then, appearance mattered.
These are obvious, well-known examples of where the appearance of presidential candidates and presidents was a topic of discussion. But there are more …

Great article.
I would vote for Bernie Sanders.
As I have said, all I needed to know about Carly is:
Feb 14, 2005 … Carly Fiorina resigned as CEO of Hewlett Packard last week under pressure from the board and shareholders. She will get a severance package worth about $21.4 million. The share price of HP stock has fallen over 50% since Fiorina took over in July 1999.”
But it does not hurt to find out that while she was running HP, she looked the other way while HP sold products to Iran in violation of US sanctions. And we wonder why sanctions were not working.
She’s a traitor and a failure and you can be sure, Donald, the American savior, will start running Snap-Chat and Instagram ads to knock her down starting in five, four, three, two……
I read something over the weekend from a person inside HP while she was CEO. He was of the opinion that if she hadn’t done what she did, there would be no HP today. It would have gone down the tubes like so many of those dot.com co’s. did. She is probably as good as most of the candidates. If you leave out Graham, any of ours is better than all of theirs.
Yea, yea, Fiorina advocates and political advisers have been running that BS story since Carly decided to run for the Senate and then President. But, the Board and Shareholders of HP never thought so. There was never a, “boy did we screw up by dumping Carly” moment at HP. Never, we should have listened to Carley. They were just glad to be rid of her.
Not interested in bashing GOP candidates.
Tell me why Hillary and Bernie are unfit. That’s what the media does NOT want you to do. Quit serving them.
Like no one ever talks about Trump being orange with a squirrel on his head.

Up until she decided run for President, she still owed her failed 2010 campaign staffers half a million dollars. She had an estimated worth of 120 million dollars when she ran for the senate. She reimbursed herself 1.2 million dollars she loaned her campaign and bought a 6.1 million dollar estate (in cash) nine months after losing the election. But stiffed her lowly campaign workers until this year.
Shouldn’t really surprised anyone – this is the woman who said this about outsourcing HP jobs – “There is no job that is America’s God-given right anymore. We have to compete for jobs.”
You don’t need to convince me. Carly is bad for the American Middle Class. Now if we are talking about the mega wealthy, she fits right in. Screw the little people. They are not important.
She’s a hag. Flip and Tango think she’s hot.
Hillary and Bill reward their family and friends with money meant for hurricane ravaged Haiti. They received $50,000 dollar speaking fees at charity events.
Fiorina === Sara Palin 2.0
God help us if she becomes >>>> Tricky Nicky Haley Elected 2.0
(baffled Will didn’t figure out a way to plug Templeton in this)
She should have just said “Hey I’m 60, not fat, and my husband thinks I’m hot, which is what I care about. Now let’s talk about something important.”
Trump’s a douche – he should be marginalized and mocked.
