From what I am reading , Carly was handed a sinking ship and did what she did to keep it from totally going under. She laid off 30,000 people but saved the company for what was left. When you are dealt a bad hand you either play it out or throw it in. She played it out and there is still an HP. It might not be pretty but the alternative would have been worse.
