GOLDEN STATE ABLAZE …
|| By FITSNEWS || We knew the mega-drought in California was bad, but it’s now starting to resemble the set of a big-budget Hollywood disaster movie.
The latest scary scene? A massive fire that broke out over the weekend in drought-ravaged Lake County – located in the northern central region of the state.
This massive conflagration has consumed more than 60,000 acres (or nearly 100 square miles). Oh, and it’s only five percent contained.
“It is the nightmare we feared,” one federal firefighter told The Los Angeles Times.

At least a dozen wildfires are raging in California, including one that’s charred 135,000 acres in the southern part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. That fire – dubbed the Rough Fire – is 36 percent contained. Another conflagration – the Butte Fire – has laid waste to more than 71,000 acres in Amador and Calaveras Counties. It is 30 percent contained.
A total of 11,000 California firefighters are battling the various blazes …

I dunno, San Diego is great, and the highway from LA to Santa Barbara is very lovely. The standard of living around the state seems high, and everyone is happy. Temp workers make $40K, more than skilled workers in SC. I think it’s a great place.

California’s state government debt rose by about $5 billion to $617 billion during the last year, with no signs of a turnaround. One after the other, California cities are falling to bankruptcy like dominoes. Stockton, Vallejo, Mammoth Lakes and San Bernardino have already gone insolvent, and now Compton is expected to run out of money soon. Some are saying this is just the tip of the iceberg.
Cities like these are in fiscal trouble because the government (both local and state) spends more than it takes in and then raises taxes in a vain effort to make up the difference. With government employee pensions skyrocketing, high unemployment compensation debt and an increasing amount of taxpaying businesses fleeing the state, California is learning a hard lesson in fiscal responsibility.
I know facts and logic don’t mean anything to you, but Obama would have been elected and re-elected even without CA. Also, SC receives more more from the Federal government than it pays in states, which is NOT true of CA.

Fifty-two percent of all new driver’s licenses issued in the state of California thus far this year have been awarded to illegal immigrants.

I think someone has calculated that the California wildfires alone have released ten times the amount of co2 into the environment than all California’s trucks and automobiles in a year.

First of all, the southern half of California is a desert with the left part more dry than the right which is in the process of desertification. The northern left hand side gets a lot of its precipitation from fog and light mists – recently it has been dry, due to its 68 year cycle. The right hand side is undergoing savannafication, which is what South Carolina is doing, as well – it’s end game can bee seen in northeastern Africa.
But California has only itself to blame. For years, far-seeing scientists have been warning politicians to do better planning when it comes to water appropriation, but every year, they put it off because of the influence of the eco-crazies who hate dams. So the fish get to swim and the farmers go broke.
