It would step up the time table, making them more reckless. I agree with you though, it wouldn’t stop them.
The plus to something like term limits(it’s always discussed, but never happens) is that it would put their shenanigans on display more prominently.
It doesn’t matter in the big picture, term limits are always cried about but never actually happen. It’s always thrown out as the “solution” to corrupt government, instead of the simple recognition that government but it’s very nature is corrupt- no matter what rules you try to apply to it.
Just like this situation- the public votes down a tax, then the pols find a way around it and get their tax anyway. This happens over and over again. It’s a shell game that the taxpayers can’t win.

Raising city sales taxes to maintain state roads. Great plan. Nothing but a revenue grab to dole out to their buddies for useless “improvements for tourism.” Vote them all out and sue them to stop the tax. It is easily argued as unconstitutional.

Hey Will, I understand it getting by WIS, WLTX, The State. and other poor excuses for “journalism”, but how did you miss the latest bit of ugliness in the corrupt village of Lexington? I just drove through there a few minutes ago and by all appearances, they are gearing up for red light cams in a major way. The vicinity around the courthouse downtown seems to be getting the hardware installed.
When was this approved and by whom? Were there any public meetings or hearings about this travesty? Is there a state law forbidding this practice and if not, we need to pressure our legislators to pass one.
Once again, Lexington’s local political crooks give the citizens the ol’ middle finger up the ass, or so it appears.
I though those have been all done after all the court defeats they have suffered. Lexington better put that money in to a Legal Fund, or your taxes are going even higher.

I realize that hindsight is 20/20 but there is plenty of history available had the local politicians been interested to look at it. The roads in the Town of Lexington could have been fixed 20-25 years ago when land was a lot cheaper and still pretty rural. New wider roads could have been cut through wooded lots to allow traffic to bypass the town.
1. The town and the county of Lexington did not work together.
2. New zoning laws to ensure plenty of room for expansion for the roads
that they bordered and allow for more ease of entry and exit
3. They should have seen that developers would be building along these roads. Whiteford, and Carriage hills should have sounded the alarm for them.
4. They could have reached out to other small towns that went through an expansion phase and asked them what they did that worked and what mistakes they made.
But no they didn’t and now we who live in Lexington are all paying the price for the fact that our politicians are morons.

When you get your bill go out to KBB and check on your fair market value you will see that they extremely OVERinflated the value. Print it off and take it to the tax office with you and they will reduce it no questions asked. SCAM pathetic. When will people in this state realize that voting R across the board has resulted in our state being pretty much last in every catagory except of coarse Public employees salaries.
