NEW PARTY RISES OUT OF THE CONFEDERATE FLAG DEBATE …

|| By FITSNEWS ||  This website has seriously entertained the notion of secession in the past … and with good reason.

Undertaken the right way, we believe it is an increasingly viable option for the preservation of life, liberty and prosperity in a region of the country which has all the tools to succeed … yet which continues to be held back by government at all levels.

“There comes a moment in the evolution of every free society when its intellectually curious element (or what’s left of it) must take inventory of the governments representing it at all levels,” we wrote two summers ago.  “For those who live in South Carolina, that’s an exceedingly grim outlook.”

And this outlook has only gotten grimmer in the intervening years …

Of course as we noted back in November of 2012, “secession has to be the beginning of a plan, it can’t be the plan itself.”

“Secession would have to be accompanied by the complete dissolution of South Carolina’s infinitely corrupt state government (and its banana republic municipalities, too),” we wrote at the time.  “Second, a new form of government replacing these rotten edifices would have to be drawn up.  This is especially critical given South Carolina’s status as one of the most backward, underperforming states in America – as well as the racial stigma that lingers from its prior attempt to secede.”

In other words there is a right way – and a wrong way – to approach this issue.

Down in Charleston, S.C. last week, a “new secessionist” named Tyler Bessenger strolled into the offices of The (Charleston, S.C.) City Paper to lay out his thoughts on the issue.

A 26-year-old native of Florence, S.C., Bessenger “sported a South Carolina ball cap and bore tattoos on his forearms of the Ron Paul ‘Revolution’ and ‘Coexist’ logos,” according to reporter Paul Bowers.

After laying out some pretty rational thoughts regarding the surface divisions (a.k.a. false narratives) driving the debate in our country, Bessenger proceeded to dive into the Confederate flag issue – saying the S.C. General Assembly’s vote to remove the banner from the S.C. State House is what got his movement going.

“It got people’s dander up, and every movement needs a little of that,” he told Bowers.

Dander?  Oh brother …

Bessenger also said his new party – the S.C. Secessionist Party – had adopted the Confederate-era South Carolina Sovereignty flag as its banner.  And if all that weren’t enough, he says he’s related to the late barbecue magnate Maurice Bessinger, a staunch segregationist.

Yeah …

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: The only way secession will ever be taken seriously – or undertaken successfully – is if the ideals it advances are universally accessible.  And if the movement advancing those ideals is also available to all comers.

Seriously … it’s not as if the federal government (or the nation’s first black president) is doing anything to materially improve the lives of black citizens.  In fact the opposite is true.  Why, then, would a movement which seeks to remove this yoke turn away potential converts – on any basis?

We don’t get it …

Secession is a legitimate idea.  But it will never be viewed as such until the racial stigma rightly associated with its first incarnation is replaced by a genuine populist movement impervious to surface divisions and focused exclusively on the advancement of individual freedom and free markets for all.

Unfortunately, this region is also full of “tools” who would never be able to succeed in running a functioning independent state based on the Libertarian fantasy of “freedom and free markets for all.”

They actually have a pretty good deal going on with all the poor Democrat Party voters occupying the welfare rolls.

My statistics show SC gets $7 of federal money for every $1 they send in. For example Ohio is an even $1 and $1.

Until Democrat Party voters are cut off the perpetual welfare train things will never improve.

I will answer that just as soon as you admit the truth, Charleston is a racist city. Admit it and I will gladly answer

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 11:29 am

All cities of the world are racist, therefore Charleston must be racist as it is a city of the world. Your turn.

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 11:31 am

I’m not sure I like how you got your answer. You just say the words “Yes, Charleston is racist” nothing more nothing less and I will have your answer

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 12:36 pm

It is obvious that you refuse to answer a simple question. Name the cities that are totally non-racist. Your refusal indicate that you do not know of any.

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 1:35 pm

I 100% know of some, but as usual all you do is avoid the actual proposed question. As I have promised you say exactly the words “Charleston is racist” no more no less and I will give you your answer (which I am indicating I have). Anything short of that or no response also proves how full of shit you are.

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 1:45 pm

In order to determine if Charleston is racist, I need to know the metrics that you are using. Such as, not as racist as Boston, NYC, LA, or Detroit or more racist than Antarctica.

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 1:52 pm

you are still blowing smoke. its was a very simple proposal to which you are desperately trying to avoid and not honor. Until the words “Yes, Charleston is racist” ( and you say no more and no less) we are done on this. You have too much of a habit of being nothing more than full of shit and once again you have proven that.

E Norma Scok September 10, 2015 at 3:29 pm

Since Charleston is so racist, we residents of this fine area implore you to stay in whatever paradise you have found on 2 notch road.

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 7:06 pm

where is 2 notch road?

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 9:03 pm

In the screen door to hell. Obviously you are not from around here.

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 5:56 pm

Since you will not provide your metric, one can only assume that you don’t have one. Your so mature utterings indicate your level of discourse. Honor is a term of which you are completely unfamiliar. If being in Charleston offends you, I suggest you pack your carpet bag and depart.

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 7:09 pm

see you avoid it again with your typical deflection as I assumed you would. You are just as full of shit as you are a racist fuck head.

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 7:49 pm

Oh such scholarly profanity. Plus you know everything about me. You are so perceptive. In the movie “No Country for Old Men”, Carson is asked just how dangerous is Anton. His reply was, “As compared to what, the bubonic plague?” See without knowing your metrics, a measurement can not be obtained. Even you should understand that.

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 8:00 pm

There is no metric needed dumbass. Ironically its just black or white, no grey and no comparison to make. Charleston itself is a racist city, and you just need to admit it, but you keep dodging it quoting movies and flat out being a piece of shit just like you are full of too.

CNSYD September 10, 2015 at 9:01 pm

Such a scholar who needs profanity to explain himself as he lacks the mental and verbal attitude to do otherwise. Race as explained by what? Asian vs non-Asian? What about English vs Irish? Chinese vs Japanese? Is that “racial”. For the umpteenth time, what metric do you want to apply. The fact of the matter is, as I explained earlier, there is no place on earth that is not racist in some form. So what is your point?

Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 11:34 pm

Ay point is as it always has bee, Charleston is a racist city, nad you are an idiot that rambles off topic. There are a few place with no racism on earth yet you will always be to closed minded to see that. you are a racist pig trying to condone it to make yourself feel better. I guess kind of like they do at the Klan rallies you attend frequently, Anyone such as yourself to hate a race just because they are different sows jealousy and inferiority to said race and you aren’t bright enough to see it

CNSYD September 11, 2015 at 9:31 am

Are you drunk or just not all that familiar with the English language?

Chucktown September 11, 2015 at 10:02 am

Just having problems with the keyboard but nice try to change the subject. I am gong to quote something posted above though to see how you feel about it:

If people live in Cities, and all cities of the world are racist, then people who live in cities are racist. With that said CNSYD lives in a city of the world, therefore CNSYD is a racist. Now of course only someone who agrees with your statement of all cities in the world are racist can prove this to be true, so either you do and admit it that you are yourself, or your original statement of all cities are racist is false and then Chucktown is already right without even having to name his “nirvana” as you called it. So again either you are a racist or there are non-racist cities. Which is it?”
Could that be a checkmate on your dumbass?

CNSYD September 11, 2015 at 7:23 pm

I see you take a cue from Folks and refer to yourself in the third person. Not only are all cities racist but all people (above the age of accountability) are racist to some degree, so therefore we both are. The point you keep avoiding is the degree of racism.

did you just admit you are? September 11, 2015 at 7:35 am

If people live in Cities, and all cities of the world are racist, then people who live in cities are racist. With that said CNSYD lives in a city of the world, therefore CNSYD is a racist. vicupstate September 10, 2015 at 9:59 am

If by ‘slave market’ you mean the tourist-oriented market that runs along Market Street from Meeting to Bay Streets, that has never been a Slave Market. Ever. That is one of many misconceptions.

There is a museum called the Slave Market Museum that was indeed a slave market, but it does not in any way ‘honor’ slavery. It merely displays the history of slavery in the area. The injustice and cruelty of slavery is fully displayed.

Reply
Double check you facts bub September 10, 2015 at 12:27 pm

The Old Slave Mart was originally part of a slave market known as Ryan’s Mart, which covered a large enclosed lot between Chalmers and Queen streets. The market was established in 1856 by Charleston City Councilman Thomas Ryan, after a citywide ban on public slave auctions made private facilities necessary. Slave auctions were held at the site until approximately 1863; in 1865, the Union Army occupied Charleston and closed Ryan’s Mart. The Old Slave Mart Museum has operated on and off since 1938 Which is much after. Don’t try to change the subject by lying about it

Reply
Chucktown September 10, 2015 at 12:41 pm

that kind of actually verifies what he said actually but still to have anything that using the word slave museum or market in it for tourism is in fact “honoring” it and trying to make a buck off it

Democrat run states, instead of lowering taxes and regulations, think up new ways to squeeze more money from a shrinking population. Like California, trying to retroactively tax small business owners with interest on tax credits legally taken but now found to be unconstitutional by the State Supreme Court years later.

It won’t be long before the only people left in states like these will be illegal aliens, welfare recipients, and government workers shelling out a diminishing pie.Bitch,bitch,bitch….you liberals are NEVER happy…South Carolina is Gods Country! Fortunately for those of us who live in our great state, love our great country and are not dumb racist rednecks, we have already settled the issue of whether a state can secede from the Union of its own accord, and the answer is an unequivocal no. The only way for a state to leave the union is to dissolve the contract that binds us together as states. That means a constitutional amendment. Through the amendment process all states, a single state, or any portion of a state can be either kicked out of the union or allowed to leave the union. Otherwise a state cannot leave the union, because the federal government is charged with protecting the constitutional rights of its citizens, and no state can take those rights away. If a state can secede our rights guaranteed under the US Constitution are meaningless. We live at the whim of a dumb local, and in SC racist redneck, mob.

I for one have exactly zero interest in living under any form of Government the backwards leaders of this state could envision. I am an American first and a South Carolinian Second; and I firmly trust the US Federal Government to defend my rights more than the leaders of my state; and more than the electorate of my state.

So if you want to go, leave me out of it. I want to stay; but if after you leave and the US Government will allow it I would welcome all of the cheap immigrant labor such a move would create; and I will not pay you in your worthless state currency. You will get greenbacks; something you are likely to need to buy food after the food you were able to loot and hoard just before the secession runs out.

But people like you want to take freedom. You want to force people like me to leave my home, my land, and my business my state, just to retain my rights as US citizen. My right to live in a modern western democracy. I don’t boot lick for anyone, especially a local redneck mob. I am happy with my country and I sure as hell don’t want to live under some made up Government, by people who can barely read and know almost zero about history and the rest of the world.

Taxes. What bull shit. Most the people who would be dumb enough give up their US citizenship to live in your new banana republic don’t make enough to pay taxes; and would be the first to bitch when there were no roads, no airports, no fire department, no police protection; no courts who will listen to you if you don’t have a bribe. I lived in a third world country for a couple of years. I know what its like and left to its own devices, I know what SC would become in no time at all.

We do not live under a corrupt system. I’ve seen corrupt systems. You want to create a corrupt system that works for your benefit, that operates the way you want it to operate; that benefits the people you want to benefit. You are nothing like the people who fought for this nation to exist. They were fighting for a just cause. Something all could benefit from. You just want your way and want to force everyone else in this state to live your way. Well there are plenty of us who don’t want to live your way. We like knowing we can count on our rights, We like knowing we can go anywhere in the United States or anywhere in the world unhindered. We like being able to hop on a plane and fly to New York, or Florida or California and know we can count on things to work the same way. That we can be safe and have our rights and persons and property respected. The last thing we want is to be locked in a country the size of SC with bunch of confederate flag wavers, who could easily be convinced to round up anyone who did not think like them and imprison them or worse.

At the time of the Civil War, 95% of the citizenry of SC did not own slaves. Even worse the vast majority of the citizenry were not allowed to vote. SC did not have a referendum on whether to leave the union. We were taken out of the union by a cabal of slave owning Plutocrats who ran the government because they owned land.

The 95% that did not own slaves had absolutely nothing to gain from that war. Their lifestyle would not have changed one iota whether we were part of the US or not. Yet they were the ones who were killed, starved and forced into decades of poverty.

They were duped by the mega-wealthy elite of their day into supporting a cause from which they could not benefit. Duped into betraying their country and becoming cannon fodder, under the guise of some type of second revolution, when in fact all they were doing was defending the lifestyle and wealth of people who would do nothing for them. Much like the billionaires of today duping the wingnuts into believing they will benefit from making the billionaires richer. So if you want to blame anyone stop blaming the wrong people. Blame the people who started the war in the first place.

That’s why it was called a “rich man’s war and a poor man’s fight” which was often uttered in the glorious region called the South by it’s soldiers doing the fighting and more sadly the dying…..

The South ain’t backwards. It’s had the smarts to prostitute itself from the 1890’s through the 1960’s for every mill and factory that could be built. And it still continues to this very day but at a slower pace but with even more whoring due to the global economy (of which I support since I am a capitalist)
It wasn’t Lincoln but his cabinet who tried to have vengeance after Booth killed Lincoln. The die-hard dicks in Charleston had already been defeated. Just read the damn book….It’s a best-seller BTW
To get rid of weeds you’ve got to poison the entire area……….
I’m talking about the 1830’s to 1862……..for napalm and fire bombs from the sky.
if I could have I’d have done it in a microsecond and had a beer afterwards!!!!!!
Those dicks from back then reaped what they sowed.

We won’t be sending Sherman’s Army to reverse your decision this time.

Forget Walls, Build Bleachers! September 10, 2015 at 11:12 am

They won’t ask to keep Fort Sumter either. They will just build a fence and bleachers by the border and sell popcorn and binoculars.

Libertarians despise government too much to ever form one that can actually govern.

They want to use government to pass dangerous drugs laws. Libertarians LOVE government when it furthers their agenda of electing Democrats.

“This website has seriously entertained the notion of secession in the past …”

In English: “This website consistently flirts with, no, embraces fringey silliness, which keeps anyone directly associated with it from being taken seriously by grown ups.”
