INDEPENDENT SOCIALIST MAKING ANOTHER PALMETTO STATE SWING
|| By FITSNEWS || Bernie Sanders‘ insurgent Democratic presidential campaign has yet to take South Carolina by storm … but the independent socialist U.S. Senator from Vermont is hoping to change that very soon.
After a successful visit last month, Sanders is on his way back to the early voting Palmetto State …

Sanders’ visit comes as frontrunner Hillary Clinton‘s campaign continues to unravel – and as U.S. vice president Joe Biden explores his options. In fact the “Draft Biden” movement – a.k.a. “Ridin’ with Biden” – officially launched in South Carolina last week (and just got a big story published in Politico).
According to the latest polling, Sanders enjoys a nine-point lead over Clinton in early voting New Hampshire and has pulled within striking distance in Iowa. The best case scenario for his anti-establishment campaign involves Biden jumping in and pulling establishment votes away from a weakened Clinton – thus splitting the Democrats’ mushy middledom and leaving the uber-liberal progressives all to him.
Of course if Sanders’ populist appeal from the left keeps converting people the way Donald Trump‘s populist appeal is converting them from the right … watch out. Both could win their respective nominations convincingly … and then realize they have more in common than anybody ever imagined.

He would be great for this country. Maybe he could cleanse us of the stupidity caused by the GrandTango and Flip types that have cursed America for years.
Actually since republicans will own Congress and since Sanders probably respects the Constitution and rule of law more than a lot of others he would probably insure that we maintain a limited government since nothing would ever get done :).
What does he support that the majority could possibly get on board with. America is not a socialist country nor do I ever want it to be.
Simple example. I play Storm Games when bored. The games consist of gifting, tipping and helping, all are free, require time only. OR buy Google Play. Interesting enough, I have play a short time (3 months?), I find that even when people can give free gifts, the majority is more inclined to receive them and give nothing in return.
I never argue, but I see those who do – they get mad they are spending their time giving and getting nothing in return.
The moral of this story – Socialism doesn’t even work in a game, much less the real world. People are selfish, that is just a fact. There is a growing sense of entitlement – everyone is owed something by someone? Yet, when given the oppt to work more, refuse. I simply don’t get it. I do understand those who can’t. I don’t understand those too lazy.
Typical low information voter. Just assume what you are told by the right wing media is true. Why don’t you look at his positions before you ask what people can get on board with?
I read it on his site. You political hacks are disgusting. You are going to RUIN America! Because YOU only care that YOU get paid, not what is best for America. Your just another political hack, go lick your wounds. Yuck!
So you read what on his site. Exactly which of his proposals did you find disgusting?
Uh….that he is a full blown socialist?
Really, a full blown socialist. You read on his site that he proposed government ownership of all industries and government ownership of all land. Do you even know what you are talking about?
He self identifies as a socialist. Now, he may have changed that phrase for political reasons, but he is a full blown socialists. Read his doctored site and read between the lines. Use Wayback Machine to go several months back to see his core issues. It’s that simple.
No point in debating, he isn’t going to win nomination…the problem with Socialism is you eventually run out of other peoples money to spend – paraphrasing Margaret Thatcher. Very true.
You’ve been so dumbed down by Republicans lying to you, by Fox news lying to you, and the rest of the right wing media lying to you, that you read exactly what they want you to between the lines. You believe without question all the lies you have been told. Typical of the duped wingnut class, you did not read or listen to anything on his site; because you know it will be a lie because you were told it will be a lie. But the people telling you that are the ones lying.
Inaccurate. What I know about him is from searching for an Independent candidate. It’s most likely going to end up being Bush and Clinton, so I was searching for another candidate. What I know of him, comes directly from his website. I has since been tweaked a little, but if he calls himself a socialist, I hate to think how far left he really is. Obama identified as a Centrist and he is more left than that.
Oh and by the way, By rightwing Republican standards Margaret Thatcher was a “full blown socialist.” Here policies were well to the left of anything proposed by Democrats in this Country.
Why don’t you look at his record as mayor and in the Congress and see how he’s voted and decide how ‘socialist’ he’s been in action?
“I am a socialist and everyone knows that,” Sanders said, responding to an ad that tried to link him to the regime of Fidel Castro. ”
He continued: “They also understand that my kind of democratic socialism has nothing to do with authoritarian communism.”

Definition of “democratic socialism” from wikipedia:
“Democratic socialism is a political ideology advocating a democratic political system alongside a socialist economic system, involving a combination of political democracy with social ownership of the means of production.”
So either you are an idiot that can’t understand definitions Kip, or Bernie is.
Man, get over those late 19th/early 20 century definitions of ‘socialism’.
All you’re doing is showing how pathologically rigid your ideology is.
Bernie! Bernie!!
“independent” socialist? His profile clearly calls him a Democrat and he does not appear to identify with Independence. Independence and socialist? Oxymoron.
Bernie’s proposals have been very moderate and very pro-middle class. I am glad he is in the race. Someone other than Trump needs to speak from the heart. We need someone in the race other than Trump who is not owned by the billionaires.
I love how the right can’t look at Bernie’s ideas because he is a ‘Socialist’, but have no problem looking at Trump, although he is clearly an ‘Asshole’. If you were to take everyone of Bernie’s proposals and take his name away from it, people on the right support them. You put his name to them, and all of sudden the ideas suck and are ‘Socialist’. The Decline of ‘Merica continues.
