I’ve made some pretty solid money on Section 8 deals back when I was flipping real estate more heavily than I am now. I was a little conflicted but somebody’s gonna make the coin, and I thought it may as well be me… ;-)
Flipped one, didn’t make enough to make it worth the broken windows, stolen materials etc.
I ran a couple as rentals for about 5 years…it was like printing money. We had a couple of scruffy tenants but Uncle Sam made most of the rent good every month, and their part was about the actual market value of the place. It was very much like work, though, so we sold them as a bundle. I may jump into that pond again one day…
I always flipped, never wanted the hassle of renting, wish I’d held on to some of them now…

Actually both. There is a title 8 AND a section 8. Title 8 involves California forestry practices. Section 8 is a public housing spread-the-wealth thingie from the late 60’s AND a way to get out of the Army, if you’re crazy. The takeaway is that you have to be nuts to live in section 8 housing, especially if they build it in a California forest.
