CURRENT, FORMER GOP SENATORS SELL OUT … AGAIN
|| By FITSNEWS || Remember the “American Security Initiative?” In case you don’t, this is the group that ran all those ads a few months ago warning that Iran was going to blow up a nuclear bomb in a major U.S. city.
Need a refresher? Click here …
Well guess what: This group – led by liberal former U.S. Senators Evan Bayh, Saxby Chambliss and Norm Coleman – is apparently nothing but a puppet for the Saudi Arabian monarchy.
According to The Intercept, Coleman’s lobbying firm – Hogan Lovells – is on retainer to the Saudi government for a whopping $60,000 a month (a.k.a. $10,000 more than the median U.S. annual household income). Chambliss’ lobbying firm – DLA Piper – is also on retainer with the Saudis.
Why does this matter? Because last time we checked, the foreign government most closely linked to domestic terror was … Saudi Arabia.
Wait … you haven’t read that report? Oh … right. You can’t. And those who can … won’t.
Anyway, Saudi Arabia wants to covertly undermine U.S. president Barack Obama‘s attempt to negotiate a nuclear deal with Iran – even though it is on the record supporting the agreement (Obama, by the way, is no stranger to Iranian scaremongering either).
Our view on that?
Eh ….
Obama’s deal is terrible – which is one reason it has been opposed by the full spectrum of GOP presidential candidates (and several liberal Democrats, too). That may not be enough, though. Thanks to the “Republican” U.S. Senate – most notably U.S. Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee – Obama is virtually assured of getting his deal through Congress.
While Iran is secretly opposing a deal it publicly supports, Corker is publicly opposing what he secretly supported.
What did Corker do? Back in April, he flipped the script on the treaty ratification process – pushing through a so-called “Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015” which requires a veto override of two-thirds votes in both houses in order to stop the deal rather than the constitutionally required two-thirds majority in the Senate for ratification.
In other words thanks to Corker, a deal that should have required a two-thirds majority of the “Republican” Senate to approve now must get two-thirds of both chambers in order to stop.
From our friend Bill Wilson of Americans for Limited Government (ALG) comes the definitive rebuke …
Congress, because of the Corker ploy, negated the Constitutional provision requiring all treaties be enacted by a two-thirds vote of the Senate. Instead, Corker’s bill only allows the treaty to be rejected if two-thirds in both houses can be mustered to override a Presidential veto. When pressed on this point, Secretary of State John Kerry commented that passing anything called a treaty is “too hard.” So, we just ignore the Constitution because it is too tough, too demanding, too much of an impediment to this Imperial President and his radical goals.
Bob Corker is no fool; he knew full well that his measure would hand the power to Obama to negotiate anything he wanted. For him now to come out and loudly declare how dangerous the resulting treaty – er, sorry, agreement – is amounts to a level of duplicity never envisioned by the Founders. But it does explain why millions of conservatives and even moderate Republicans are flocking to (Donald) Trump or outright abandoning the GOP.
Absolutely …
And guess what: Every single “Republican” member of the South Carolina congressional delegation – Lindsey Graham, Tim Scott, Jeff Duncan, Trey Gowdy, Mick Mulvaney, Tom Rice, Mark Sanford and Joe Wilson – voted for this nonsense. And so did “Republican” presidential candidates Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio.
Unbelievable …
“Republicans” in Congress – current and former – are once again proving themselves as nothing but puppets.

Whaaaaa? They rigged the game? RINO rigged the game?????? That’s it!!! I’m voting Trump.
Well since your boys Bayh, Chambliss, and Coleman were in on it, I can understand your defection.
Don’t worry, we’ll repeal this now that it has done its job of covering our asses.
If it had all those votes then it must be good conservative nonsense. Stir the pot Willie!
How long before we devolve in to ignoring Constitutional Procedure for removing elected officials because it is “too hard”?
Chambliss and Coleman take money from foreign powers to do their bidding in DC. And they consider themselves patriots?

Hey, The Donald said that he loves the Saudis, you know. Have not seen a hand-holding pic yet, though.
Don’t worry, I’m sure it is coming.
