Nikki Haley Is Correct On Gitmo Detainee Issue

ENEMY COMBATANTS SHOULDN’T BE SHIPPED TO SOUTH CAROLINA

|| By FITSNEWS || This website rarely finds occasion to agree with S.C. governor Nikki Haley – who campaigned (twice) as a conservative yet has governed like a classic big government liberal.

And a corrupt one at that …

Having said that, we have no problem whatsoever with Haley’s adamant refusal to permit detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba (a.k.a. “Gitmo”) to be housed at a naval brig outside of Charleston, S.C.

“We will take any action within our power to make sure no Guantanamo Bay detainees are transferred to South Carolina or Kansas,” Haley wrote in a letter co-signed by Kansas governor Sam Brownback.

Wow … if only she showed the same backbone during the Upstate refugee resettlement scam.

U.S. president Barack Obama vowed to shut down Guantanamo Bay down in 2008 – but the facility has continued to operate at a cost of $150 million a year.  It currently houses 116 detainees, 52 of which have been cleared for release.

The other 64 have been deemed too dangerous to release, and Obama’s Defense Department (DOD) is currently seeking alternative accommodations – including the Naval Consolidated Brig in Charleston, S.C.

Well, that or another “trade.”

Our view on the detainee issue is simple: It shouldn’t be an issue.

“If proof exists that foreign nationals knowingly participated in terror activities against American citizens, then they should be lined up against a wall and shot – immediately,” we wrote back in 2013.  “If no such proof exists (or, as is the case with many detainees, the government has no idea who they are), then they should be released.”

As for America’s “enhanced interrogation” efforts, you can read our latest thoughts on that subject here …

Now: Is Haley pandering on this issue?  Looking for some easy headlines in her bid to become a top-tier vice presidential candidate?

Sure.  But at the end of the day she’s right.  And we support her position … whether it benefits her politically or not.

More Than $1mil Per Prisoner! August 26, 2015 at 9:36 am

52 people we are still holding for nothing, at this rate when they are released they will be very sympathetic towards terrorists, maybe even want to join them. So many of our actions hurt our cause against terrorism, but we never learn.

Yeah, maybe if we just called up Al Qaeda and asked really nice for them to stop hating us and release these prisoners, then they’ll forget that we have a military base in SA, that we support Israel, that they blame our society for corrupting their youth, and that that we are not Muslim, and, therefore infidels.

I’ll bet that if we removed all of our bases from the M.E. & stopped unilaterally supporting Israel both diplomatically and financially that we wouldn’t even have to call them.

The Gitmo detainees should be sent home, not to South Carolina. Indefinite detention without trial is abhorrent. Sad that most Americans couldn’t care less.

They were holding tribunals and it seems that suddenly they stopped.

The military tribunals have not stopped.
They are just totally ineffective in terms of the cases progressing at anything approaching normal court speed.
The military tribunal system is a failure and Republicans in Congress block these cases being tried in federal court…which works and actually convicts and sends terrorists to prison.
This is almost 15 years of a failed system.

This is how well they work:

When the Obama Administration got involved and starting changing the rules of the tribunals then they became ineffective. They want to attach rules of evidence that will undermine our national security. The have hamstrung the ability of the government to do their jobs without making America less safe. We now have prosecutors that are practically being forced to act as defense attorney’s. Whatever is going on down there is nothing more than a sham. The tribunals have been replaced by an Obama love fest. It may be easy for you to judge it from here but chances are you have never had your boots in the sand or spent all day in the Caribbean Sun (outside of a vacation or a cruise).

Oh, BS.

All these people were taken prisoner in the Bush/Cheney administration and not a single one convicted before they left office.
It never worked.
The federal courts have been sending terrorists to prison since the 90s no delayed justice.

Speak D Truth August 27, 2015 at 9:53 am

The Supreme Court blocked the Executive Order for Tribunals in 2006. Congress Authorized them in 2006. Tribunals began almost immediately with a 2008 ruling by the Supreme Court finding issues with the law. Proving that the tribunals were being held under Bush and that the cases were working their way through the legal process. Three Prisoners were prosecuted under Bush. None have went to trial under Obama. Obama issued an Executive Order to prevent future charges from being referred to a tribunal. That order was overturned.

There’s no such thing as “states rights” for the most part anymore, so it’s doubtful she’ll be able to stop the transfer if the Feds want it to happen.

That’ll potentially make Charleston a target for terrorists. Yay.

Are these terrorists supermen or something? Seems like they’re about as dangerous as the next psycho locked up in any other federal prison.

Bullshit on top of Cockroach Shit

Where is the Gypsy Queen as tons and tons of out of state toxic garbage is being buried around the State

Where is the Gypsy Queen as tons and tons of out of state radioactive waste is being stockpiled at Savannah River

Getting ones panties in a wad over 50+ assholes pales in comparison to the other people’s shit South Carolina taxpayers have eaten over the past decades

Betcha if the Government offered up a bounty for each detainee, the Gypsy Queen and the rest of the Cockroaches not only would welcome the detainees, they would name highways, bridges. interstate loops and sewage lagoons in their honor

Fucking Cockroaches

“they would name highways, bridges. interstate loops and sewage lagoons in their honor”

You have to be a corrupt politician or other form of “government worker” to get that privilege normally, so someone would have to pony up to displace them. Given Nikki sold out Jasper for a measly $10K, I’m thinking the Gitmo detainees probably warrant around $200 a pop from the Fed to some hidden Nikki owned LLC.

She really is a cheap date. I’ll bet if I took her to Bojangles and bought her one of those smoked sausage biscuits on special right now I could get her to smoke my sausage quid pro quo.
