GATHERING TO ADDRESS SUPREME COURT MARRIAGE RULING, RELIGIOUS LIBERTIES …
|| By FITSNEWS || Social conservatives across South Carolina are organizing a rally this month “in support of Biblical marriage and our religious liberties.” Their event – scheduled for 11:00 a.m. EDT on Saturday, August 29 – will be held on the grounds of the S.C. State House in downtown Columbia, S.C.
“Voters in thirty-six states – including 78 percent in South Carolina – voted in favor of constitutionally defining marriage by the Biblical, traditional standard of one man and one woman,” event organizers noted. “But in its recent decision, the U.S. Supreme Court decided to violate the U.S. Constitution and the state constitutions of every respective state that voted for traditional marriage. The repercussions of this decision will have far reaching negative effects on the religious liberties of churches, Christian ministries and individuals in the days to come.”

Christianity is bleeding out and dying, and this is the kind of stuff that is opening the wounds further. Two gay men or lesbian women tying the knot does not actually hurt anyone, it doesn’t even affect anyone outside of the two getting married. There are many Christians who realize this and simply choose to not care how those people live their lives. That’s perfectly fine, live and let live.
When Christians step over the line and try to assert their views, by force, using government as their weapon, it is far over the line of what is acceptable. Rights are rights, and the constitution does protect the individual’s right to be treated equally under the law. The arguments Christians are using now are the same arguments the racists of yesteryear used against desegregation and miscegenation. Today, people who argue against mixed schools and mixed marriages are looked at as the throwbacks they are, made out to be social pariahs and shunned by society. This is what will happen to people so adamantly against gay marriage.
What these bad Christians do not only alienates gays from their faith, it also alienates anyone who sees such beliefs as primitive, backwards nonsense. These fundamentalists will continue to sully the religion as a whole and Christianity will recede that much more in the next generation. They are self-immolating over an issue that, in the grand scheme of things, is not that big of a deal.
Dan Savage brought up a great point about the gay marriage debate. Thirty years ago gay people would have jumped at the chance to have the “separate but equal” status that a civil union would bring, just because they needed something, anything, that would have given them rights. Because the tide was against them the Christians wouldn’t have it. Now that the tides have changed, Christians are begging for something, anything, that would let them keep the institution of marriage exclusive to straight people. As Dan said: “That fucking ship has fucking sailed.”

“When Christians step over the line and try to assert their views, by force, using government as their weapon, it is far over the line of what is acceptable. ”
AMEN.
Liberals in America despise Christians of true faith.
They do this because in doing so their own guilt is appeased, their anger is justified, and they can finally lay blame for their own misery at someone else’s feet.
“True faith”, what a joke. In my experience, the holy rollers who can’t get enough of trying to force their, God, church, Jeeebus, crap on everyone else are more often than not, the ones you better be watching and watching very closely. My grandmother used to say that when you encountered one of these twits whose every other word seemingly was church blather, that you better watch them because they would likely soon stick a knife in your back. I have rarely, if ever, found that advice to be in error.
It is as if these people need continuous reminding that Jesus has paid the bills for their sins because, despite the image they “try” to project, they are naturally such corrupt, lecherous, larcenous, untrustworthy bastards at heart, they need the religion community to keep them from acting on their impulses. Unfortunately, their religion and religious community are not enough to keep them in line and they act on their natural impulses anyway. Then they hide behind their mask of religion as they commit crimes and sins those heathen athiests, agnostics, Pagans, they so delight in condemning, probably would not even think of doing
I enjoy your posts however you appear angry with God. Faith is personal and I respect your right to be blasphamous about our Lord Jesus Christ.
Sorry bout your grandmother.Mine was loving and uplifting. I will say those that have hurt me and my family the MOST in my life are those that profess to be Christians. Thankfully I don’t put my faith in ANY man-man will fail you EVERYTIME. I put my faith in Jesus, the sinner that I am.
Please listen to another SINNER and only the best as you navigate this worldly journey of life:

Hi Flip! Thank you for remaining civil in your reply. I don’t think my problem is so much with God as it is with “his people”. The louder they get about their “faith”, the more evil they are usually up to. Right now, I’m having issues with a male family member who suddenly flipped on me a few weeks ago about a heartbreaking family situation that I was helping with. He instigated an argument out of nothing and from nowhere. He is always prefacing any discussion about anyone else (especially in presence of clergy or fellow holy rollers) with, “I’m not judging them but…”. I can’t help but think, “oh hell yes you are, you just don’t have the balls to call it what it is”.
I don’t know what he’s up to, but my gut feeling is that he is about to try and make off with a lot of things that were specifically willed to me. That or find a way to give them to his church so that his entrance into Heaven is guaranteed. Yeah, I know it isn’t supposed to work that way and he will “tell” you that, but their actions so frequently conflict with their words.
Flip and GT, probably the same people are about as far from Christian as you can get. Real Christians show why they are by their actions not their talk. Real Christians know we were directed to light the path, not force people to take it. The fake Christians and the Sunday morning Christians, don’t seem to understand the diffferance.
“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.” — Gandhi
So when Homosexuals rally, or have parades, they are up to more evil? Hmmmm
Oh, no need to be sorry about my grandmother. While she could be a cantankerous handfull at times, my biggest regret is that I didn’t fully appreciate the tremendous wisdom she had with regard to sizing up people and any agendas they might have.
I saw two lesbians at Mass a few weeks back, I guess they don’t dispise Christianity and Christians.
Good to see ya Rocky.I figured maybe you and your NON citizen mother in-law were deporting early ahead of the Trump/Republican Party Immigration Plan for deportation of illegals and NON citizens?
I like you. My motor home has been declared a ‘sanctuary city’ for your family! Oh my!!!! :)
We despise the faker “Christian” scumbags like you. Go take your hate somewhere else and stop perverting decent religions.
I wish I could like this one X 1000.
Christians make me puke. They think they run the show. They do not.
How about churches start paying taxes like the rest of us?
Ok with me.Start with the Democrat Party black churches that turn their pulpits into Democrat headquarters during the election cycles. How about we cut the base of the Democrat Party off of the welfare rolls and make them work to eat.
Then let Americans opt out of Obamacare and stop spending my money at Planned parenthood.
How about Flip and GrandTango start paying taxes instead of being freeloaders?
you bet !
Remember that little thing called “…separation of Church and State…”?
The US is’t a “Christian” country, nor was it founded to be one. It’s a country for everyone…
The more the “Christians” think that every rule and Law should be made, and adhered to, through the word of their God is one step closer to Sharia Law.
Christians will say, “But our God is a just God, and our rules don’t hurt anyone…other than those we disagree with…”
Kinda the same thing ISIS, and their ilk are saying right now…
Christians are doing to the US what the Muslims are doing their own countries. Turning them into centers of religious government. Over my dead body !
Yeah, about that “separation of Church and state”…It was the Danbury Baptist Association which heard a rumor that the Congregationalist denomination was about to be made the national denomination. That rumor distressed the Danbury Baptists, as it should have. Consequently, they sent a letter to Thomas Jefferson voicing their concern. On January 1, 1802, Jefferson wrote the Danbury Baptists, assuring them that “the First Amendment has erected a wall of separation between church and state.”
So, it’s not actually a line in the constitution and, in fact, was used by Christians you despise to assure other Christians that no particular denomination would be nationalized and thereby give credence to it over any other. Your problem of understanding stems from the fact that you believe that simply lobbying for a certain law or legislation is akin to “forcing” it on other people. No Christians believe in setting up a theocracy and forcing compliance to their rules by the sword. They do, however, believe in their right to a voice and advocating for what they believe is right. You can debate whether the particulars they advocate for are right or wrong all day and nobody says you should get stoned or beheaded for that. Oh yeah, these Christians are just like ISIS and the Sharia proponents. Either you believe Christians can lobby and advocate for their positions on issues or you don’t, but cut out the nonsense about being just ISIS and wanting to set up Sharia.
but they do want their own law. You have blinders on. Christians are a danger to our democracy. They must be stopped at every turn. We are not a religious state.
And that’s different from any other group? Atheists want their laws, Muslims want their laws, gays want their laws, etc. You’re no different than the Christians you despise. What if I said “Gays are a danger to our democracy. They must be stopped at every turn. We are not a gay state.” You would call me bigoted and homophobic, yet you can say exactly the same thing to Christians all day.
It’s not about whether Christians can get “Christian” laws/legislation, it’s about whether what they advocate for is right or wrong. If you think it’s wrong, then by all means make your case. Even though I am a christian, I don’t argue with those who are not on policy by invoking “because God said so” or “it’s in the bible”. I use facts, logic and reason. If you want to discuss me or anyone else just because they are Christian, then you are just a bigot.
That’s right. The Supreme Court has no business defending the minority from tryanny of the majority. They let them black people vote, gave ’em equal rights. Those ba$tards.
It is Christians who are destroying America. They just won’t shuttup and listen to reason. If the world ends, religion will be to blame. Religion can go get fu@@@
