Donald Trump Rolls Out Sweeping Immigration Reforms

PROPOSALS DRAW “LINE IN THE SAND” ON ISSUE

|| By FITSNEWS || Billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump doesn’t just want to build a wall on America’s border with Mexico … he wants to make Mexico pay for it.

“The Mexican government has taken the United States to the cleaners,” he said. “They are responsible for this problem, and they must help pay to clean it up.”

How’s that for keeping an eye on the the bottom line?

And that’s just the beginning of Trump’s bid to fundamentally redefine an issue he has single-handedly brought to the forefront of the 2016 presidential debate.

“When politicians talk about ‘immigration reform’ they mean: amnesty, cheap labor and open borders,” Trump said.

“The Donald?”  He’s got other ideas … and lots of them.

In addition to a wall subsidized by Mexico, Trump wants to deport all undocumented immigrants, rescind U.S. president Barack Obama‘s executive amnesty program, triple the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in America and revert to the tariff system that existed prior to the passage of the 1994 North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

Furthermore he would end the practice of granting U.S. citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.  “Sanctuary Cities” would also be defunded and green cards to foreign workers would be suspended.

Trump would also require immigrants to prove they won’t be a drain on their new country.

“Applicants for entry to the United States should be required to certify that they can pay for their own housing, healthcare and other needs before coming to the U.S.,” he said.

Trump’s far-ranging immigration proposals – released on Sunday – aren’t just comprehensive, they represent a sweeping repudiation of the “bipartisan” approach to the issue that’s been en vogue in Washington, D.C. for decades.

“Real immigration reform puts the needs of working people first – not wealthy globetrotting donors,” Trump said.  “We are the only country in the world whose immigration system puts the needs of other nations ahead of our own.”

As we noted last month, Trump has turned what was supposed to be a politically correct “Republican” outreach to Latino voters into a blunt, politically incorrect rebuke of the broad, bipartisan failure to secure the nation’s border.  He’s also feeding off the frustration arising from the GOP’s latest ideological betrayal on this issue.

This website has never breathed fire on the immigration issue, but we’ve consistently called for government to appropriate more resources to border security.

“Why not stop subsidizing millions of things government shouldn’t  be doing and start spending tax dollars on one of the handful of things it should  do?” we wrote last summer.

Trump’s plan obviously does that … and pays for itself, too.

Beyond border security, Trump said his proposals are built on the need to enforce existing laws and to “improve jobs, wages and security” for all Americans.

Hard to argue with either of those points …

In fact we don’t see any universe in which Trump’s “line in the sand” on immigration reform doesn’t further bolster his already front-running GOP candidacy, and force his would-be rivals to toe that line … or risk being identified with the failed D.C. status quo.

Speaking of the status quo, it will be interesting to see how it responds to Trump’s immigration agenda – seeing as its initial effort to take him out has failed miserably.

The FITSNews type libertarians, who are liberals at heart, played warm to Trump when they thought he was hurting the GOP, and helping Hillary.

But if Trump keeps listening to (and taking action for) the American People, watch how quickly some of the moderates, who feigned affection, rip up Trump.

If you are getting scared, you should be. He may not make it to the nomination, but I bet it scares the hell out of you, that he is opening the door for the GOP to turn back every bit of the damage Obama has done to us.

And if the Republicans follow Trump’s lead, no Democrat will have even a slim chance.

If you liberals and self-called libertarians are not scared, you should be.

Just remember, Trump is the ONLY candidate who will do the stuff he is talking about. The clown car of losers on the stage with him in the debates might try hitching their wagon to Trump’s train, but not one of them will make even a feeble attempt to do what Trump speaks of doing. If the voters screw the pooch and put any of these posers in the running other than the real thing (Trump) you will at very best get “Hillary Lite”.

Your part of the sentence that “Trump SPEAKS of doing” is spot on. Talk and smoke and mirrors is all that blowhard is about.
Simply put, Trump ain’t nothing but a loud-mouthed blow hard Yankee who dodged the draft and got his start from his daddy’s money. Self-made man my hillbilly ass
To zealots like yourself an Americanized clone of Mussolini is a dream come true
And it appears to me that conservatives (and the Tea Party in particular) are masters of applying Godwin’s Law to “Obammer”
I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve seen a picture of a poster displayed at some rally referring to “Obammer” as some sort of Nazi – let alone all the bullshit on right wingnut talk radio and Fox News. Besides that Mussolini was a fascist NOT a Nazi and from what I’ve read had no real love for Hitler.
All I’m saying is that is see numerous similarities between Trump and Mussolini (especially facial expressions and body language) and vague promises to make Italy (in Mussolini’s case) or America (in Trump’s case) “great again”. Both talked shit without actually backing it up. Mussolini was a decorated WWI veteran and was actually wounded in combat unlike that coward Trump who can’t even get his story straight about which foot he had a problem with in order to get a deferment.
But then again, simple minded gullible people who are desperate for a change always fall for that shit and America is no different.
Fuck, when was the last time America was NOT great???
DAMN!!!!

With the exception of the 10% of politically connected or sensitive people that vote establishment, 75% of Americans will agree with Trump.

The immigration policies of the last 30 years have placed black Americans in the worst position since the 50’s. It has placed women further down the totem pole and has taken skilled jobs that once paid high salaries and turned them into low wage jobs for new immigrants.

Trump has hit pay dirt and he will do very well.

Yes, to you it appears uncomplicated.

To me, I wonder how a “skilled job” becomes a low wage job.

The laws of supply and demand seem to say that if you truly had a unique skill that you would make corresponding money doing it.

In other words champ, you can’t have you cake and eat it too. You can’t claim that a job is a “skilled job” if you can import all sorts of people from third world countries to do it.

If someone with all the advantage and opportunity in this country can’t attain a skill level higher than those in third world countries with far less opportunity, maybe the problem is the native, not the immigrant.

Brick masons, roofers, plumbers, landscaping, framers, etc., all skilled jobs. It is NOT rocket science! What’s wrong cannot see the forest for the trees?
many Americans use to do these jobs and now, the illegals are willing to do them for less and hope they don’t get caught!

“Brick masons, roofers, plumbers, landscaping, framers, etc., all skilled jobs.”

Not so skilled that immigrants who can’t read or write can’t do them.

jim August 17, 2015 at 6:51 am

Yes…many immigrants can’t read or write (English, anyway). That makes them cheaper to hire and provides for hirgher margins for the company that manages them.

Real wages have gone down. Workplace participation is at an all time low. If you can’t see that and the affect on wages you are looking.

“Real wages have gone down. Workplace participation is at an all time low. If you can’t see that and the affect on wages you are looking.”

I can see it, I just think it’s laughable to blame what represent far less than 10% of the US population on it.

The reason for all of this is 40+ years of bad fiscal policy, no Je’sus mowing your lawn, Rosa scrubbing Myrtle Beach hotel toilets, or Juan putting up drywall.

Especially in the context of their relatively small numbers. They are easy to blame because they are illegal and even if they could speak english they wouldn’t dare or be booted out.

Once again…national appeal. SC might have a small Hispanic population, but many states have large and growing Hispanic populations. You are also assuming all white voters aren’t sympathetic to immigrants. We are all the descendants of immigrants after all. In any case, Trump has done damage to the GOP, but it can be fixed. There’s time and enough people don’t want another Clinton. Unfortunately, Jeb has that nasty four-letter word attached to him. Otherwise he would probably have an easy time winning.

Rubio’s parents were permanent resident aliens, Green Card Holders, when Marco was born. The Permanent Resident Alien status is the last status before citizenship. Cuban immigrants have special standing in the United States since the imposition of communism by Fidel Castro.

Non citizens cannot vote. So, if he is kissing the illegal immigrant vote goodbye then he shouldn’t be missing any votes….that it unless some of them are actually voting, which would be a felony and allow them to be deported with no chance of ever becoming a citizen under current law.

Legal Latin immigrants do not like illegal Latin immigrants, for they all seem to get lumped together with the poor behavior of the illegal ones. People also assume that they are low skilled, semi-literate and treat them as such until proven otherwise.

As to who will replace these vital workers? Have you observed the labor participation rate, which is the lowest since Jimmy Carter held office. There is where you will find workers, in the ones who are not participating today and who have rolled off the unemployment rolls

He seems to have at least the framework plan together for what he would do about illegal immigration, and this has two side effects for the short term. He is helping in keeping Hillary off the front page at the MSM. I checked the three major network’s websites today and CNN. No stories about the “woes” of Hillary. Like they are anxious to print anything negative about her on a slow day.
The other thing he is doing is throwing down the gauntlet to the other Republicans candidates to say something substantial about illegal immigration. Some of these Republican candidates in the past have been paying lip service to this problem along with the perfunctory **wink** **wink**.
I still don’t think Trump will be the Republican nominee, but thank God he is stirring the pot in both parties and maybe this issue of illegal immigration will be at the forefront in November of 2016..

Reply

Maybe, if the movement catches hold, it will be an issue that sustains itself, regardless of who is nominated. You are right one one count, I don’t see everyone of those Republican candidates having the fervor that Trump has, but, who knows for sure how this issue will evolve..

Reply
CorruptionInColumbia August 16, 2015 at 6:24 pm

Nope, it’s true. The people of Weimar Germany had a hollowed out economy due to reparations and were looking for someone/something to blame. The US has a hollowed out economy due to bad fiscal policy and want to blame illegals, who are a very small % of the problem in total.

You can’t blame 44 years of deficit spending on illegals taking advantage of a huge welfare state and expect to be taken seriously by thinking people. Sure, you’ll get the masses all whipped up like Hitler, & you might even win an election- but you won’t solve the fiscal problem by spending huge amounts of time on illegals when the constitute a very small % of the problem.

If my comment was truly “gibberish” as you claim, no one would bother responding.

None of them are as idiotic, unrealistic, or designed to appeal to our ugliest angels as is Trump’s. No one, and I mean no one, believes that deporting 11+ million people is either feasible or smart. No one believes that Mexico is going to pay a penny towards building a wall. BTW: I helped put up the section down near Naco Arizona back in 2009 as part of my two week active duty so I know a thing or two about putting up a wall on a border.
That fucking Trump is so full of bullshit……………..
But people are lapping it up just like the Italians who were so desperate to make “Italy great again” (just like in the Roman times).
Maybe it’s time for USA version of Mussolini and that puke Trump fits the bill better than anyone else.

Where is my buddy Rocky? I sure hope he and his NON citizen mother in-law aren’t already fleeing the country before mass deportation is implemented.I like Rocky and would declare my motor home a ‘sanctuary city’ before I let that happen! :)

Nope, we’re here. Since we’re all legal, and I was born in the country, and my wife took the oath of citizenship in 2004, given I might add, by a Cuban judge, and our kids are born here and American citizens, and my mother-in-law has a valid, active Green Card – we’re not going anywhere. And neigther, by the way, is Trump come March. Thanks for the White House buddy, we’ll enjoy it another four years.

Trump has trumped the elite conservatives. They are now in the corner, time to go in for the kill.

So let’s recap. The Trumpito plan is first, we kick out all the illegals (including DREAMERS and any native born children who are American citizens.) Then we’re going to build a big wall, paid for by Mexico. Then we’re going to put in place a big tarriff on stuff like VW Jetta’s and car parts used by GM and BMW and others. Then after we “tax” ourselves to pay for the wall, we’re going to have a new system, so the people we kick out, can have an expedited method to re-enter. Yeah, that sounds like a big fat circle jerk.
