FIELD FOR STATE SENATE SEAT SLOWLY COALESCING …
|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. Rep. Peter McCoy is among those actively considering running for the State Senate seat being vacated next year by Paul Thurmond – son of the late, legendary U.S. Senator Strom Thurmond.
If McCoy runs, the third-term House member would likely be among the frontrunners to replace Thurmond. Of course it would be an “all-or-nothing” venture for him, as McCoy would likely be compelled to give up his seat in the S.C. House in order to campaign for Senate District 41, which includes parts of Charleston and Dorchester counties.
Other potential candidates for the seat? Former S.C. Rep. Anne Peterson Hutto (whose prospects we discussed here), Charleston County councilman Joseph Qualey, local attorney Mark Peper and workers’ compensation lawyer Walter Hundley, who briefly represented the district in 2012 after its longtime occupant, former Senate president Glenn McConnell, became lieutenant governor.
Obviously that’s just an early list of potential aspirants … we expect to hear many more names in the days and weeks to come.

Thurmond is an honorable guy. He hated how the Senate works- one man, Leatherman, telling everyone else how to act and vote.
Good men and women have their own judgment about things and they follow it. Toads let themselves be pushed around.
I am glad to hear there was at least one good man in the Senate.
McCoy is definitely on the State House Corruption list. His name showed up on information presented that tied to pay for vote action right by Bobby Harrell’s side. McCoy was taken order from The Beach Co Boys and passing instructions for decisions along through his Judiciary Committee. It won’t be long before this makes the news
Such Bullshit.
If you are going to accuse a man of wrong doing, post your real name. Otherwise, STFU. No one likes or trust a coward.
Is it just me or does he look like Bugs Bunny?
Who drew green and on that poor girls teeth?
