FRONTRUNNER FILES PAPERWORK IN HOLY CITY …

|| By FITSNEWS || Fifth-term S.C. Rep. Leon Stavrinakis is the latest candidate to formally file paperwork to run for mayor of Charleston, S.C.

Flanked by his wife and three children, the diminutive Democrat known as “Short Stack” made his candidacy official.  To hear local political observers tell it, Stavrinakis is the frontrunner in the race to replace longtime mayor Joe Riley – who is stepping down after four decades on the job.

“For forty years we have benefited from Joe Riley’s wisdom and vision,” Stavrinakis said in a statement. “As he retires from City Hall, it’s time to ask ourselves what we need for our city to continue being the enviable, livable and special place we all love.  To me, the answer is clear: we need a tested, proven leader who will bring a hands-on approach to City Hall. We need a mayor who will focus on delivering the best city services and producing results that improve people’s lives through less traffic, safe streets and excellent neighborhood.”

Also campaigning?  Nonprofit community leader Ginny Deerin, businessman John Tecklenburg, city councilman William Dudley Gregorie, businessman and community leader Maurice Washington and former city councilman Paul Tinkler.

Deerin – who filed her paperwork two days ago – is running on an aggressive infrastructure reform plan.

While that may be true, you could say the same about each and every opponent in the running, too.

The Greeks, what a a beautiful culture

Alexander the Great, a man’s man/ Homer the author the the Iliad and the Odyssey not yet in comic book form but will be soon/ the Olympic Games – who can forget the Wide World of Sports shot of the fella coming down the ski jump, losing it and making one helluva wipe out and is given sole credit for the coining of the phrase – what the fuck

Then we have modern day Greece, a small fairly insignificant piece of shitty real estate, which is on the verge of single handily bringing down the whole economy of Europe

Today we get yet another Greek influence. Short Stack. Doesn’t quite have the ring of Alexander the Great but what the hell it is a damn good nickname for the cook at Waffle House

No doubt Short Stack will bring a lot to the table, provided he doesn’t forget his step stool, and if elected he will show the residents of Charleston the true meaning of the Greek Way

I don’t claim to know a whole lot about the problems that modern day Greece is going through, but I must say the great majority of American Greeks I have ever met were industrious, successful, people who one couldn’t help but admire and be even a bit envious of.

My Navy tour on a Greek island was a great time for me. The Greek folks I met were wonderful and were committed to their local customs of family life and so forth which worked well for them.

Two guys meet on the street and begin catching up on the family news. Finally one asks the other, “Well, how’s your wife?”

“Right now she’s in bed with hepatitis.”

“Good grief! Is that Greek back in town?”

Andreas had arrived in America Greece and on his first day was walking down Main Street seeing the sights when two men approached him and asked, “Would you like to become a Jehovah’s Witness?”

Andreas replied, “I am sorry, but I really can’t.
I didn’t see the accident.”

So how’s his record on local government funding act? Deadbeat Dad or cheerful spender of (my hands are tied, we must fund the bill or be in violation of the statute) other people’s money? Just askin’
