Anti-Abortion Group Urges “The Donald” To Defund Planned Parenthood

SUSAN B. ANTHONY LIST LEADER: DONALD TRUMP SHOULD

|| By FITSNEWS || A leading anti-abortion group is encouraging GOP frontrunner Donald Trump not to mince words when it comes to federally funded abortion provider Planned Parenthood.

The Susan B. Anthony List – a group “dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion” – said Trump repeated Planned Parenthood fallacies during an interview this week with Fox News.

“According to its own annual reports, Planned Parenthood’s abortions are on the rise – nearly one million in the last three years,” the organization’s president Marjorie Dannenfelser (above) said in a statement.  “Meanwhile, their already limited non-abortion services have dropped significantly. We’re talking about a profit-driven abortion business receiving more than $500 million taxpayer dollars a year and with little interest in real health care for women. At one point yesterday Donald Trump called Planned Parenthood an abortion factory, and he ought to have stopped there.”

Dannenfelser also challenged Trump to support efforts to defund Planned Parenthood – joining candidates like U.S. Senators Rand Paul and Ted Cruz, who are leading the effort in Washington, D.C. on that front (see here and here).

“Why should a scandal-plagued, inept organization like Planned Parenthood be receiving $1.5 million in taxpayer dollars a day?” she asked.  “If Mr. Trump is truly concerned about women’s health, he should support immediate defunding of Planned Parenthood and the reallocation of those funds to organizations better suited to women’s health care needs. There are more than 9,000 federally qualified health care centers nationwide that do not sell abortions to vulnerable women and seek to profit further off of the flesh of their children.”

Good points …

Planned Parenthood has been rocked in recent weeks by multiple undercover videos detailing its disgusting for-profit scheme to sell the body parts of aborted fetuses.  In fact the latest video – released this week – alleges that the organization doesn’t always receive the consent of the mother prior to absconding with fetal organs.

“There were times they would just take what they want,” a technician in the latest video stated.  “And these mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”

The video was released despite attempts by federal judges to place restraining orders on the Center for Medical Progress – the group which has been conducting the undercover investigation.

We’re referred to the operation as “a stain on individual liberty … and basic human decency.”

“What we are dealing with is a holocaust, pure and simple … and there’s a special place in hell for those profiting off of it,” we wrote last month when the scandal first broke.

Unfortunately, U.S. president Barack Obama is standing by the organization – which has so far only apologized for the “tone” of its fetal body part peddling operatives.

Trump admitted during a “Republican” presidential debate last week that his position on the abortion issue had evolved over the years.  We would humbly suggest it needs to evolve further.

Yeah, Donald is going to solve this one. Hey, here’s a news flash, by law Planned Parenthood is prohibited from using Medicare dollars for abortions. It’s called the Hyde Amendment. Hence, even if you pulled the $500 million, all you’de do is take away $500 million spent on actual positive programs including women’s cancer screenings. Let’s see, I understand that PP provides: 400,000 PAP tests annually, 500,000 breast exams, sex education to 1.5 million young adults per year, 4.5 million tests annually for STDs (including 700,000 HIV tests). Yeah, let’s defund that – those are worthless programs. Let’s just hand out bottles of asprin to young girls so they don’t get knocked up – because everyone knows – if a girl gets knocked up – it’s her fault, even if it is a legitimate rape.

Wow. Just Wow. If you’re paying the rent for the meth lab, you’re supporting the meth lab. Rather than using the money for rent, they’re using it to buy more meth ingredients. Just like instead of charging more for abortions, PP is able to lower the price because its overhead is covered through the “medical” services it allegedly provides. I’m literally amazed someone could lack such basic critical thinking skills.

Reply
Rocky Verdad August 12, 2015 at 3:16 pm

Jackie, come on. Stop this silly argument. PP doesn’t use federal money for abortions. I understand you’re pro life, and the idea that they, or anyone, perform abortions is abhorent. I get that. I really do. But see, here’s the thing – the Supreme Court in 1973 ruled that a woman has the right to elect the procedure. If you want to change the law, fine! I got no problem with that. But unless you’re going to change the law, this argument is futile.

Jackie Chiles August 12, 2015 at 3:19 pm

The entire point of the article is that they’re trying to change the law.

If money is being used to cover overhead for buildings and facilities in which abortions are being performed, then the money is funding abortions. It’s impossible to separate the two.

Two Middle Fingers Up August 12, 2015 at 3:24 pm

The argument, which seems to be lost on many, is that PP is engaged in illegal profiting off of aborted baybees. Why is it so hard to comprehend?

Rocky Verdad August 12, 2015 at 3:25 pm

It’s not illegal profit – that’s the other point. They are allowed, under the law, to recapture their costs. And one would assume those costs are not cheap, we’re dealing with human tissue being used for research. We’re not talking about Maurice’s BBQ here.

Jackie Chiles August 12, 2015 at 3:26 pm

If PP was recapturing its costs, then why didn’t it come with a list of costs? It was negotiating prices for the organs/tissue without any reference to the actual cost of harvesting. Everyone knows handling fees are nothing more than an additional avenue for profit.

Rocky Verdad August 12, 2015 at 3:30 pm

Really. You show up to the dinner table with tha list? You’re at first just obtaining requirements. Let’s say you purchase tissue from me. You have requirements, that the tissue must come from x type donor, must be handled in y certain way, delivered within z hours of procedure, must have been tested by this other third party, with the following documentation. This ain’t mail order. It’s not Amazaon.com baby parts. But bottom line is your showing why there cannot be a rational conversation on this issue. The bottom line to the pro-life folks is black and white, all or nothing. You want the procedure banned and you don’t like that it’s legal. And anything you can do to try and eliminate the procedure is justified with whatever story you want to come up with. I get it. And honestly, I’m done.

Jackie Chiles August 12, 2015 at 3:32 pm

Ok so now you’re accepting that they have no way of determining what the costs are before they negotiate the prices?

Rocky Verdad August 12, 2015 at 4:59 pm

Reply
CorruptionInColumbia August 13, 2015 at 1:15 am

Opening one’s eyes and looking around should be about all the proof one needs of rampant over-breeding. Congestion on the roads, overcrowded schools with the constant need to build new ones, water shortages, issues with wastewater treatment; need I go on?

I don’t know that abortion is “the” correct solution, but no doubt it has helped, especially when the best its detractors can offer is abstinence-only education. What was that figure the anti’s were flinging around a while back; 55million since Roe vs Wade? Imagine the 55 million plus the offspring of many of those added to our current levels. Additionally, since most of those were probably not wanted, can you imagine what stellar citizens they likely would have been with no love, no guidance or values, and no support while growing up?

Reply
Daniel Boome August 13, 2015 at 7:39 am

Congestion on roads and overcrowded schools aren’t evidence of a problem related to overpopulation per se. It could probably be argued that those issues are far more related to infrastructure and incentives. Simply “opening one’s eyes and looking around” may certainly lead to the perception that somehow the problem is too many people and therefore overpopulation, but that’s just pure conjecture. The road congestion and school problems you reference are pretty directly related to the fact that they are government-run and thereby inherently inefficient. It’s not any wonder they show evidence of “overpopulation”.
Also, if you are going to argue that abortion has spared the life of those who “were probably not wanted” and “likely would have been with no love, no guidance or values” then you have to argue that we should attempt to exterminate those who are currently living and experience the same thing. There’s no way around it. It’s a really bad hill to start sliding down if you are going to think in those terms, not to mention that it’s extremely presumptuous to begin with. Roe v Wade was 42 years ago, so all you’re saying is that we would save 1.3 million per year. That might sound like a lot in theory, but it’s really not.

Mary August 12, 2015 at 4:52 pm

I frankly am sick and tired of the hypocritical and bogus arguments from both sides. Both the right and the left are killing children every day, and neither side seems to have any problem with it, so long as they are killed in the proper way. I ask, who is more evil. the woman who kills a child or the man or women who allows 20 children to die of starvation, when he or she could prevent it?.

Reply
Daniel Boome August 13, 2015 at 7:40 am

There are close to a quarter of a billion children in Africa under the age of 13. Unless you gave $250 million to them, you “allowed” children to starve. You must be a hypocrite with all the rest of us.

Reply
Mary August 13, 2015 at 10:01 am

You see that is the problem with the right. The mother having an abortion fully understand the sin the right is accusing them of. But the right is pointing out the beam in the eye of the mother and ignoring the beam in their own eye. They have committed the exact same evil. If you could have saved the life of just one child last year, you have committed the same evil as every woman who had an abortion. How do you have any moral authority to complain.

Until we change our culture to treat all human life as sacred. To defend life, regardless of its stage of existence at all cost, we have no moral authority.

This is why Christ said it is more difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle. Our culture values money and life style more than life.

Why do many women have abortions? They fear poverty, fear being shunned, fear giving up a lifestyle they could have without a child. In short they are choosing lifestyle over life.

The right is committing the exact same evil. They are choosing a new car, a beach house, a vacation, etc, etc. over saving the life of a child dying of starvation or disease. Until they realize that and work on correcting their own evil, their hypocritical complaints will fall on deaf ears, as well they should.

Daniel Boome August 13, 2015 at 11:27 am

Except “the right” is not accusing mothers of anything. Once again, this has nothing to do with the mothers per se. This is where your whole line of thinking simply falls apart. This isn’t about anyone’s sin or about asserting any type of supposed “moral authority”. The subject matter we are discussing is either right or it’s wrong.

I get what your point is, but you act as though everyone is choosing wanton pleasure over saving a child. Just because we provide for our families and afford them a stable home life and leisure every now and then doesn’t mean we don’t treat all life as sacred. Your attempt to try to show this as some sort of hypocrisy is incredibly specious. You are misinformed on the economics of it, as well. Even if we gave up all our luxuries and gave our money to children in Africa, it won’t fix the problem. The problem in Africa is far more than the fact that they just don’t have money. It’s a problem of corrupt governments, education, and lack of efficient use of resources. Forking over dollars won’t fix that. I’m not saying we shouldn’t give them any money. That’s not my point. But you incorrectly think that giving up our way of life will lead to a better one for them. It won’t.

And please stop with your caricature of “the right”. This has nothing to do with anybody with certain ideologies. All kinds of people have luxurious lives. Nobody who works hard, advances in their careers, and makes a lot of money is “choosing a new car, a beach house, a vacation, etc, etc. over saving the life of a child dying of starvation or disease”. They are choosing to enjoy the fruits of their labor and there is a good chance many of those same people use those fruits of their labor in a charitable fashion, as well.

I think your comment that women are “choosing lifestyle over life” is pretty telling. I would agree to a certain extent and that’s really the problem. Children’s lives are being terminated because they are an inconvenience. So, you think the solution is full access to abortions of any kind? That seems to be what you’re saying. You are saying a lot of things that are all good and well when it comes to proper admonishment and encouragement of Christian charity, but you go off the beaten path trying to show how it shows some sort of hypocrisy of those who advocate for the illegality of abortion. You need to either argue for it or against it. You try to bring in too many other things to make your point.

Mary August 13, 2015 at 10:11 am

Oh, and yes. Its hard. It is hard to realize you could have saved the life of dozens of children and you sat by and did nothing. That is why I pray for forgiveness every day. That is why I never discuss the evil of abortion with a mother who has chosen that route. I would never try to shame her, or suggest we pass a law to prevent her from committing the exact same evil I commit; while ignoring that evil. I am opposed to abortion in almost every instance. But I am for saving the life of every child. For now I choose to counsel love. To show the mother of an aborted child the love and lite that child could bring into the world. To show her, her life will not be worse for having a child. The other route has failed and will continue to fail, because it is not from a place of love.

So when you want to discuss making it illegal for women to have abortions and making it illegal for us to allow children to die of starvation and disease when we could prevent it, come and see me.

Daniel Boome August 13, 2015 at 11:05 am

Your reasoning is absolutely absurd and you really need to quit being presumptuous and projecting motives onto those who are pro-life. I’m not even saying you commit any “evil”. We can’t help everybody just like everybody can’t help us if we are in need. That’s the way life goes. Regardless, it’s ridiculous to say that because you supposedly commit evil in one area of your life that you can’t call it out in another. If you were to ever slander someone in your life (which would be evil), does that mean you can’t ever say that murder or rape is wrong? That makes no sense but that’s the logic you are using. You don’t keep all children from starving, therefore you can’t say it’s wrong that children’s lives are terminated in the womb. Really?!? You call out evil for what it is and you repent of the evil you commit. You don’t ignore it altogether just because you’re a fallen member of humanity.

Nobody is saying that a woman should be “shamed”. That’s the presumptuousness that you always inject into this conversation and you need to stop. There are numerous pro-life/women’s advocacy organizations dedicated to counseling women who have gone through or are considering abortion (my wife volunteers at one). You believe in a caricature of people who are pro-life and buy into the myth that they just want to condemn women who have chosen abortion and neglect the babies that are born when the mother chooses otherwise. You’re just plain wrong and your reasoning for wanting to keep abortion legal is fallacious. You can’t make allowing “children to die of starvation and disease when we could prevent it” legal or illegal. That has nothing to do with legality. When you hear a pro-lifers say that they don’t care about starving children, come and see me.
