REWINDING THE CLOCK ON FOX’S “FEMINAZI”

Until last week, anyway …
Kelly gained fame (infamy?) during the first “Republican” presidential debate of the 2016 election cycle when she spearheaded Fox News’ “Kill Donald” campaign – an aggressive effort to sink the insurgent, front-running candidacy of emerging anti-establishment icon Donald Trump. Fox’s effort to take down “The Donald” was so transparent even the most Trump-hating “Republican” candidate in the race – U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham – pointed it out.
Obviously Trump took note of Kelly’s contentiousness, too …
“You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes,” he said during an interview with CNN’s Don Lemon the day after the debate. “Blood coming out of her wherever.”
Wait … what?
Her “wherever?”

During a subsequent appearance on CNN, Trump said he wasn’t implying that Kelly was menstruating.
“Who would say that?” he said. “Do you think I’d make a statement like that? Who would make a statement like that? Only a sick person would even think about that.”
The silly exchange – which resulted in RedState.com’s Erick Erickson disinviting Trump from his annual faux conservative circle jerk – misses a larger point. Trump was ripped by Kelly during the debate for being a sexist – one of those guys who views women purely as objects. Guys like … Howard Stern.
Five years ago, though, Kelly appeared on Stern’s raunchy radio show – during which time the two discussed her b-cup sized breasts (which she called “killer B’s”), her husband’s penis and pregnant sex.
The two even played a round of “F*ck, Marry, Kill” – with Kelly saying she would f*ck Bill O’Reilly because he “wrote a book that had some saucy sex scenes.”

Questions to the candidates exploring their personal idiosyncrasies was much more informative, as it gave the typical viewer some insight into the candidates.

I have watched Stewart for years. He is a satirist, but I have not found him to be untruthful. He usually backs up his commentary with facts and clips. I do in fact trust him to be truthful. A few years ago the Pew Research Center.completed a study in which they concluded that people who watched Stewart and Colbert were more informed on national and international affairs than people who watch any of the network or cable news shows..
One of the reasons Stewart ranks so highly in the truthieness category is that he can pick and choose his stories and he had a dedicated staff to write for him + the ability to wait it out to see how the axe will fall before opening his mouth. Before I “go there,” and I will, I must also shame Megyn Kelly. Having been a TV journalist for 20 years, I can absolutely assure you that Megyn’s questions, aimed at both Carson and Trump were pejorative. What they were NOT was mean-spirited – that would attach a meanness which is not deserved. But there is no doubt that Ms. Kelly was scalp hunting.
Let there be no misunderstanding, Megyn Kelly’s idea of fairness involves humiliating the interviewee. The only reason she gets to skate free is that a small part of her questions had the air of authenticity, if not the fact. As one very experienced news director told me, “The proper attitude of a journalist is one of opposition.” I don’t agree.
Donald Trump shoots from the hip. That means 99% of the time, he comes off as aggressive, but canny and clever – even funny. But it also means that 1% of the time his mouth writes checks his brain cannot cash. That’s what happened when he went further than the understandable rant against Kelly, and became gross, crude, and just plain uncouth.
None of this, of course, means that Trump will no longer be popular – many, many people have no couth or simply don’t care.
