|| By FITSNEWS || Heading into this week’s first round of presidential debates, “The Donald” is the runaway frontrunner for the “Republican” presidential nomination – tapping into a broad, pervasive angst among GOP voters against the GOP establishment.
In other words, he’s galvanizing conservative opposition to status quo “Republicans” – and status quo “Republicans” are firing back at him.
But what’s driving Donald Trump‘s candidacy? And the distinct possibility he could mount an independent presidential bid in “Republicans” aren’t nice to him?
The latest conspiracy theory involves a phone call between Trump and former U.S. president Bill Clinton
The key line, as reported by Robert Costa and Anne Gearan of The Washington Post …
Four Trump allies and one Clinton associate familiar with the exchange said that Clinton encouraged Trump’s efforts to play a larger role in the Republican Party …
… the revelation of the call comes as many Republicans have begun criticizing Trump for his ties to Democrats, including past financial donations to the Clintons and their charitable foundation.
And the intended reaction (from Brent Budowsky in The Hill) …
… the grand slam for Hillary Clinton would be if Donald Trump were to run as a third-party candidate in 2016. Remember how H. Ross Perot running in 1992 was vital to the election of Bill Clinton and set the stage for his highly successful and fondly remembered two-term presidency? It would be highly unlikely that this box will ultimately be checked by Team Clinton, but stranger things have happened.
Does this suggest that Donald Trump is a Clinton plant in the current campaign? Of course not, but my tongue is only halfway planted in my cheek by raising this thought, which is delightful for Democrats and deep down must be scary for Republicans.
And just like that we have the first big conspiracy theory of the 2016 presidential election: That Donald Trump – the GOP frontrunner – is nothing but a Democratic plant.
Really?
Here’s the only problem with this theory … there’s literally no difference between Democrats and the vast majority of “Republicans” Trump is running against. Seriously: Anyone who thinks this is a Clinton conspiracy to deny the White House to an establishment GOP candidate (ahem, Jeb Bush) needs a refresher on what “Republicans” in power have done over the last quarter century.
During their combined twelve years in power, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush were among the most fiscally liberal, anti-liberty, anti-free market presidents the United States has ever seen. Similarly, “Republican” congressional leaders like Newt Gingrich and John Boehner completely sold out on the “lower taxes, less government” mantra the GOP was supposed to be all about advancing.

Bottom line? For a Trump conspiracy to hold any water, there must be at least a dime’s worth of difference between a Democrat and establishment “Republican” candidate.
And there isn’t …

Stickler desperately wishes there was. If you look at the Dems leading candidate, she easily warmongers/out Neocon’s half of the Republican primary stage.
The differences are minor at best…really surrounding how much deficit spending goes to welfare/warfare….but it’s deficit spending none the less.
There is no glaring difference even then. Are the Republicans going to simply repeal Obamacare and establish free markets in their place?
No.
Are Republicans going to phase our Social Security/Medicaid and declare it an unsustainable and immoral failure?
No.
Are Democrats going to actually pull our troops out of the overseas theaters they are engaged in, specifically in regard to undeclared wars and the like?
No.
Two parties- with minor differences that in totality mean little to nothing as far as the running of the empire daily.

Me neither. I registered to vote within days of my 18th birthday and 34 years later, I have never been called.

I feel your pain, man. There was a 7-9 year period that ended a few years ago, where every time I went to the mailbox, there seemed to be a damn jury summons in it. That, or a deputy was at my door with one of those “special” summons with the questionaire attached.
Fortunately, I had a very good excuse as to why a defendant wouldn’t want me, and if they asked if I thought I could still render a fair and impartial vote, of course I answered, “hell no”.
I asked one magistrate what I had done to get on the shit list. I was getting notices from Federal, GSC, and county, courts. He said the SC Attorney General’s office sent out a disc with potential jurors for given areas on it. Apparently, my name was on it. Hopefully, it is no longer there and never will be, again.
I ignored the last one because I was moving literally the following week and not planning to change my DL address for a few months.
Prior to that, a few years earlier when I received a summons and wrote a letter back telling them I hated police and government- I received my release notice shortly thereafter.
I thought for sure I’d end up on a government list, but I guess not as I had to ignore this last one.
Thankfully they don’t send the summons for jury duty certified.
Trump is saying all the right things but there is a trust factor that I am having trouble getting past. A solid conservative, able to self finance willing to take on the establishment. If it looks to good to be true it probably is. Just saying.
I’ve said all along that he would run as third party and he didn’t disprove that tonight.
C’mon now. Everybody talks to Bill Clinton. EVERYBODY!!! Even international Muslim terrorists talk to Bill Clinton. Saddam Hussein would talk to Bill Clinton and wish him a Merry Christmas.
