WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS …
|| By FITSNEWS || With his 2016 presidential bid struggling to catch fire among “Republican” primary voters, U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is going back to his first, best argument for the GOP nomination: He’s the guy who can beat Hillary Clinton.
Paul’s campaign sent out a release this week touting a new McClatchy-Marist poll which shows Clinton beating every single “Republican” candidate in a general election. The closest GOP candidates? Paul – who trailed Clinton by a 48-43 percent margin – and Marco Rubio, who trailed Clinton by a 47-42 percent spread.
Next closest was establishment “Republican” favorite Jeb Bush, who trailed Clinton by a 49-43 percent margin.
“If our party wants to win the White House, we should not dilute our message,” Paul said. “We cannot afford to nominate a candidate who is ‘democrat-light.’ We must be boldly for constitutional conservative principles like a ‘Fair and Flat tax’ plan, protecting the entire Bill of Rights, and balancing the budget.”
This website has never been big on “electability,” arguing a candidate’s ability to attract votes in a general election is not a good reason to support them in a primary. In fact we ripped the “electability” argument (ahem, myth) repeatedly when it was advanced four years ago by eventual “Republican” nominee Mitt Romney.
Sure Paul’s claim to this mantle is far less offensive to us than Romney’s, but at the end of the day it’s still not a good reason to vote for him – especially given the campaign he’s conducted up to this point.
Paul’s once high-flying presidential bid has been in meltdown mode in recent weeks – lagging in fundraising and popular support as the insurgent candidacy of outspoken billionaire Donald Trump has taken the GOP electorate by storm.
Can Paul recapture the magic?
He’s trying … but he’s got a lot of work to do. And his organization appears to be in disarray.
The McClatchy-Marist poll surveyed 1,249 adults between July 22-28, 2015. Its margin of error is plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.

Paul/Trump 2016
HAIR! HAIR!
Paul is campaigning against electing Democrat-lite. Why would he choose one for a VP?
ANDREW BREITBART: Donald Trump Is Not A Conservative. http://www.businessinsider.com/bill-orielly-andrew-breitbart-donald-trump-video-2011-4
I don’t think most people care about a political philosophy, they concentrate on issues. And it was Trump’s opposition to illegal immigration that drove him to the top.
And I don’t think Trump has operated under any Conservatives standards in the past few years. But, remember where he lives and who he deals with. If anyone thinks most businesses are laced top to bottom with Conservatives, they are fooling themselves. He has adapted well and may have an outside chance at pulling this off, although I would not bet on it.
“it was Trump’s opposition to illegal immigration that drove him to the top?”
Boy, has he fooled the (m)asses.
Exclusive: Donald Trump’s companies have sought visas to import at least 1,100 workers. http://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSKCN0Q62RQ20150802?irpc=932
“laborers on temporary work-visa programs administered by the Labor Department.”
Referenced in your link. Please note these are considered temporary workers LEGALLY in this country.
Trump Has been complaining about ILLEGAL aliens.
There is a difference.
Nine companies majority-owned by Trump have sought to bring in foreign waitresses, cooks, vineyard workers and other laborers on temporary work-visa programs administered by the Labor Department.
The candidate’s foreign talent hunt included applications for an assistant golf-course superintendent, an assistant hotel manager and a banquet manager.
I guess there are not enough “qualified” American applicants for those jobs willing to work for subpar wages. Ya think?
“Ya think?”
Pubs are the biggest hypocrites known to mankind – some even call them scum
Can’t argue that, those Dempublicans and Republicrats most certainly are. They get it from those they emulate.
and proudly!
I am not out to justify anything Trump or anyone does in the area of legally imported workers into this country. There are many companies that do this, Disney recently replaced their entire IT staff in Orlando. High tech companies in the Silicon Valley legally import workers by the thousands. Agricultural firms in California annually import workers to work the fields. If you do not like the current situation, contact your Congressperson. I am not fond of our current laws on guest workers, temporary workers, and importing foreign workers. I think the borders and immigration should be tightly controlled and stop the abuse of illegal aliens sneaking in and businesses importing workers.
LEGAL means the Republicans voted for it.
It’s taking jobs away from Americans.
How many times do I have to express it? I know it is taking jobs away from Americans, but it is legal. Many companies and organizations do it. You guys just want to put a rap on certain people while expressing no disdain to anyone other than Trump. I get it, you guys don’t like Trump, and are out to nail him, but realize there are other organizations doing the same thing.
I don’t approve of the existing laws, Trump is taking advantage of it like many other companies. Does not make them crooks or villains.
“Boy, has he fooled the (m)asses.”
The (m)asses of Pub Primary Voters will slurp up anything! I mean look at the success of Fox “News” . . . .

Johnny Rotten has a better chance. Rand is his sister.
“He’s the guy who can beat Hillary Clinton.”
Too early, just put your best political philosophy out to the public.
And I think there is 50/50 chance Hillary will not be the nominee for the Democrats.
Remember 2008, she had no staying power, a dreadful campaign, and had a likability factor of minus 10, same as now.
“Can Paul recapture the magic?”
Hocus Pocus!!!! Abracadabra!!!!! I command you to BE GONE The Donald!
These Republican Debates are gonna be the best TV in like forever!
Better even than the drone’s eye view of bunker busters guided by laser?
So the argument for Rand is he can be elected. I mean what campaign slogan, what a powerful message. Who can win in the face of such an argument..
Rand 2016 – because he is electable. By the way, I claim the copy write on that slogan. Don’t try to steal it, Rand..
