DONNA HICKS TAPPED TO LEAD LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS
|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. Rep. Donna Hicks is running point on a legislative offensive against Planned Parenthood in early voting South Carolina.
Hicks is working with S.C. Speaker of the House Jay Lucas and state attorney general Alan Wilson on the effort – which comes in response to the recent publication of shocking undercover videos exposing the agency’s gruesome harvesting and sale of body parts from aborted fetuses.
Similar efforts are underway in Washington, D.C.
The Planned Parenthood scandal has also become an issue in the 2016 presidential race, with U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky running ads touting his efforts to defund the government-subsidized abortion provider.
In South Carolina – which is playing host to the “First in the South” presidential primary – Hicks is leading the charge. Specifically, she’s demanding state auditors take steps to investigate Planned Parenthood’s three South Carolina clinics, which she threatened to shut down back in May after a report revealed as many as 471 abortions had not been reported to the state’s environmental agency over a five-year period.
“I have recently communicated with House leadership and the top law enforcement officials in South Carolina, each of whom shares the concerns over Planned Parenthood’s activities in the state,” Hicks wrote in a letter to the S.C. Legislative Audit Council (SCLAC). “Each of the individuals I’ve spoken with has pledged to bring the resources of their offices to bear should any inappropriate or illegal activity be discovered.”
In a separate letter, Hicks wrote Weston Newton – chairman of the S.C. House legislative oversight committee – asking him to launch a probe “in light of the apparent personal admittance from Planned Parenthood employees through video records” regarding the “selling (of) aborted baby body parts.”
“I would request that your committee begin an investigation into compliance by abortion providers who receive any tax revenue through the State of South Carolina or any of its political subdivisions,” Hicks wrote.

We support Hicks’ efforts in South Carolina every bit as enthusiastically as we support the efforts of national leaders to shut this scam down.
It is a stain on individual liberty … and basic human decency.
“What we are dealing with is a holocaust, pure and simple … and there’s a special place in hell for those profiting off of it. There’s also a special place in hell for the politicians and mainstream media outlets turning a blind eye to this story,” we wrote when the first of the undercover Planned Parenthood videos surfaced.
Sadly, U.S. president Barack Obama has vowed to veto any attempt to defund Planned Parenthood, which has so far only apologized for its “tone.”

I don’t believe I’ve read where they were parting out babies for fun and profit! There’s a difference in parting out people like broken down cars on the side of the interstate and sterilization projects designed to protect society from mental defectives. By the way the sterilization projects were going on in every civilized country in the world at that time. To put it in to simpler terms you might be able to understand.
Sterilization is not equal to abortion for parts and profit.

Does anyone have a clue why Hicks would be writing the SCLAC, an agency that audits state agencies, about a private non-profit health care provider?
Those “private non-profit health care providers” get funds from public entities. Hicks, apparently, wants to follow that money.
Also, non-profits are considered by the SC Ethics Commission as businesses and their boards and principles can be considered “associated” person just as if they were in a for profit business.
There is lots of governmental overlap. She is doing a good thing.
Why would you go to the LAC to follow the money when the applicable agency would have the info?
LAC may not have audited an agency in years or never. Those audits have to be requested by a legislator.
What does the SC Ethics Commission have to do with any for profit or non-profit business except as possible sources of campaign contributions?
1. The applicable agency is responsible for the prudent flow of money to the health agency. They are all suck at their job so the audit would be an exercise in futility. They would spend their efforts hiding their poor performance and the truth would be unlikely to come out.
2. LAC does this type of audit everyday. This is what they do.
3. Ethics Commission now treats non-profits as if they were businesses. That means the people on boards, etc may be included in the “association” test. So, the health agencies that have a connection through the boards to state government may be “in conflict.” This is serious business for those that serve on non-profit boards.
Because of this report that SCLAC wrote and due to the fact the DHEC refuses to do its job. I’m betting she looking for enough information to get subpoenas issued and have SLED and/or The Statewide Grand Jury start investigations.

The right of a woman to refuse sex is (almost — except for Trump’s lawyer) universally respected. No man can be compelled by another to donate his “precious bodily fluids” even if doing so deprives society of future Nobel Prize winners.
Society encourages unwed teens to practice abstinence: often, that is all the law allows them to be taught in schools. But, woe to the girl that strays. That egg that society once demanded be destined for a dreadful death by desiccation somehow got fertilized instead, and now the situation is turned upside-down. Society now cannot survive unless she carries that fertilized egg to term and gives birth, regardless of her ability to care for it, regardless of her now-ruined plans for her own future.

Ideally, a true advocate for Planned Parenthood would attempt a better strategy…such as admit some form of “poor taste” and then try to rebuild from that point. Quite honestly, your inability to even admit some culpability on the matter completely destroys your credibility on the entire issue altogether. It’s almost akin to defending Kermit Gosnell for helping that poor unfortunate girl “who strayed” because her school only taught her about abstinence.
BTW I graduated from high school (in South Carolina) in the 1990s and can be damn sure that I was taught far more than “abstinence” as early as 6th grade.
Those videos were intended to falsely paint PPFA in a bad light, so they succeeded in your view. Cecile Richards did apologize for what appeared to be “poor taste” and was immediately accused of throwing the victim of the video scam under the bus.
As far as my credibility on the entire issue, I offer this. I served as President, Public Affairs Committee chair and director of a PPFA affiliate for 32 years. Not one abortion was ever performed at that affiliate. Month after month, more clients were referred to homes for unwed mothers (including Birthright) than were referred to abortion clinics. I made the motion to serve minors without parental consent before it was legal to do so. I advocated for comprehensive age-appropriate sex education at the state and local level.
I testified before the Kentucky General Assembly on the issue starting in 1972. I ran the Reproductive Freedom League and RFPAC for over 20 years. I published a monthly statewide newsletter on the issue for ten years. I served on the board of NARAL. I debated the issue on radio and TV against representatives of national and state Right to Life. I organized clinic escorts to protect women from “sidewalk counselors” who screamed at me “have you no shame?”
I think I have had more experience on this issue than you, but I might be wrong.
If I were ever to have a debate on human medical research, I defere to Josef Mengele’s superior experience and knowledge.
