TRUMP SAYS IT WILL DEPEND ON HOW “REPUBLICANS” TREAT HIM
|| By FITSNEWS || One of the very first questions we posed to Donald Trump‘s political team (way back in January) involved the possibility of an independent bid for the presidency of the United States.

Wouldn’t his wealth, celebrity and outspokenness be much better suited for an independent presidential bid? Especially seeing as such broad swaths of the GOP electorate dissatisfied with its leaders and ready to bolt?
Seriously … is he not looking at the same polls we are? Ones that show surging support for independent voters?
At the time, Trump’s team said he was focused on the GOP primary …
Mr. Trump is a Republican. He is seriously considering a run for the presidency as a Republican,” Trump advisor Sam Nunberg told FITS. “Mr. Trump has broad and wide appeal across the GOP ideological spectrum. He believes in a strong economy through free market solutions, tax cuts, repealing Obamacare on day one, a strong and well-funded military, life, traditional marriage, protecting the Second Amendment and making sure that we keep our commitments toward taking care of veterans and their families.”
Fast forward six months to this week, when Trump gave an interview to The Hill saying the incessant GOP attacks against him could prompt him to run for president as an independent.
“The RNC has not been supportive. They were always supportive when I was a contributor. I was their fair-haired boy,” Trump told The Hill. “The RNC has been, I think, very foolish.”
According to Trump, his decision will be based on “how I’m being treated by the Republicans.”
So far, he’s being treated pretty poorly. In fact just this week former Texas governor Rick Perry assailed Trump as “a toxic mix of demagoguery, mean-spiritedness and nonsense” and “a cancer on conservatism.”
Whoa …
“I’m not in the gang. I’m not in the group where the group does whatever it’s supposed to do,” Trump told The Hill. “I want to do what’s right for the country – not what’s good for special interest groups that contribute, not what’s good for the lobbyists and the donors.”
We’ve written a good deal about the forces propelling Trump’s candidacy … as well as the mass establishment freakout his campaign has spawned. On a larger scale, it’s reminiscent of the GOP response to the insurgent 2012 campaign of Ron Paul.
Whatever one thinks of Trump or Paul, the bottom line is their anti-establishment campaigns threaten the sanitized, tightly controlled narrative our two-party system – and the corporate interests and legacy media propping it up – wish to perpetuate.
And that’s a good thing …
Personally we hope Trump runs as an independent. Frankly, we remain shocked that he (or for that matter Paul’s son, U.S. Rep. Rand Paul) ever sought the “Republican” nomination in the first place. As liberal “Republicans” John McCain and Mitt Romney have demonstrated, that nomination isn’t worth a damn.
Like the GOP itself.

Trump knows the art of making a deal. He’s playing hardball with the RNC. If he said that he wouldn’t run third party no matter what they’d feel free to screw him over.

Correct. If he rules out the possibility of going third party, he will be screwed over by the GOP powers that be. This way they have to play by the rules. They can’t cross him.
True, part of this “threat” is that he may be wanting to force the RNC into being more “nice” to him. But remember, Trump’s measures are different than the rest of the field (in particular Jeb, Walker, Rubio, Cruz, Kasich, Christie, Graham, Perry). They are career politicians who measure their actions against the commodity of political capital (i.e. their polling margins or net positive/negative ratings and what a certain action will cost them in that margin). Trump on the other hand, measures his costs in “brand.” Regardless of what the RNC does or doesn’t do, if he believes that he’s spent “brand” capital in this venture, and sees that an independent bid will help him recapture any lost “brand” value, he’ll do it.

Oh no. Even if he loses his third party bid. All he has to do is outperform Perot – and then he’s on Hannity, Fox and Friends, Laura Ingram and others proclaiming a great victory, that he provided a voice for the huge number of alienated conservatives, that he did better than Perot, it was a great success – and voila – brand damage reversed.
Anything is possible, but I have never seen any indication that Trump is willing to settle for anything other than winning in anything he does.
Oh he’s had plenty of sub-par performances where he then sues his partners, gets on TV and makes a lot of statements to protect the brand. Let’s see – Trump mortgage. Trump University.

For one thing, the uproar from the conservative base it turned out he was pandering-to would be epic.

He curries favors with Democrats with campaign contributions, as well as Republicans, and gives to the Clinton Foundation, for access to Clinton, Inc. The next President will either be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. Get on board or accept the consequences. Trump is unlikely to run as a third party, even if he does not win the nomination. But if he is not the winner, the winner will either be a Republican establishment candidate (Jeb) or a Koch Brothers sock puppet. Hillary will defeat either.

There is definitely something going on in the President race, both parties.
Trump sits is atop the Republican Party, while frustrating and embarrassing the other wannabes in his party. No one ever saw that coming. And he got there by saying and doing things the others thought to be politically lethal.
Hillary has become “the lady in waiting” for the democrats. Restricting her availability to the public and press, not addressing major issues, trying to shrug off the bad press from mail servers, Clinton foundation, Benghazi, a lackluster performance as Secretary of State, etc. She is playing a game that now has her fellow Democrats contemplating Bernie Sanders or Walter O’Malley and sometimes Jim Webb.
The Democrats are descending, while the Republicans are vectoring upward. A recent Quinnipac poll showed HRC trailing Rubio, Bush, and Walker in three swing states, Colorado, Iowa, and Virginia.
It may be a temporary situation or it could be a continuation of the electorate’s dissatisfaction with the Democrats of 2014, overdosed on the Clinton’s, perceive her as a continuation of the Obama disaster, etc. Time will tell, but as of now, the Republicans have to be elated, while the Democrats are looking for answers.(the dems my not even know what the question is at this point)
What’s hurting Hillary right now is the sequestration her campaign is adhering too. The GOP attacks her from time to time, and she doesn’t fire back, or make much of an appearance. But, remember, the Clinton’s are masters at this game. They likely are waiting until they get closer to October / November before she starts to make more public announcements and statements. She has room in the polls to do that, for now. So her poll numbers suffer a little now, but she’s counting on being able to reverse that with a PR blitz later, when the GOP is consumed with their own internal fights.

Government does not have to be bigger. It just needs to shift priorities, from one of making rich people richer to making the middle class richer. When the middle class prospers, everyone rich and poor are better off.
The rich will still be fabulously wealthy. Maybe not as wealthy as if they lived in a country dedicated solely to making them richer, but still wealthy beyond the dreams of 99% of people in the world.

If Trump runs as an independent he will split the conservative vote and guarantee Hillary’s election. Trump will need the hardcore republican vote as well as the moderate republican vote to go along with independent voters to get elected. Trump, is not going to run third party. He is a business man. He knows it would be impossible for him to win. But he has to keep the option out there. Otherwise the GOP power structure will force him out of the party. Establishment Republicans hate him, because he is a threat to their power. No Republican should agree to debate him if he won’t agree not to run as an independent. I believe some states won’t put his name on the ballot as an Independent or third party if he was on their primary ballot.
