THE CHANGING FACES OF AMERICAN METROPOLISES
|| By FITSNEWS || Americans are fleeing major metropolises in droves, according to an analysis of U.S. Census data published by Bloomberg – replaced by a steady stream of immigrants.
“The map below shows the 20 metropolitan areas that lost the greatest share of local people to other parts of the country between July 2013 and July 2014,” the wire service noted.
Here’s the map …

“Interestingly, these are also the cities with some of the highest net inflows of people from outside the country,” Bloomberg’s report noted. “That gives many of these cities a steadily growing population, despite the net exodus of people moving within the U.S.”
So .. what’s driving this shift?
According to Bloomberg, “the growing demand for high-skilled workers, especially in the technology industry, brought foreigners who possess those skills to the U.S.”
In case you missed that last bit, the report referenced foreigners who possess those skills.
Because Americans clearly do not possess them.
Way to go, “public education.”

Years ago, it was the imported workers who came in to do the menial tasks that were begging for bodies to fill them.
Now it is the imported workers doing the high-skilled jobs while most Americans work in fast food, do lawn work, collect welfare, or lay around doing nothing all day.
The above statement is a lie.
Of course it is a lie. They dare not blame the ones responsible, their beloved “job creators” who outsource jobs, hire foreigners, employ illegal immigrants, slash benefits and pay, push longer hours… Conservatives elevated the rich and powerful into a God-like position and it would be blasphemy for them to wise up and say something against the untouchables.
Yeah, because the three biggest offenders, Google, Microsoft, and Facebook are hotbeds of Conservitism. Or the tech industry in general, really? How’s that kool-aid taste now?
Maybe you should go back and read what I wrote, or go back to school and learn how to read. I don’t view Google, Microsoft, and Facebook as sources of liberal policy because they aren’t. They are corporations, doing what corporations do best, focusing on maximized profits at the expense of everyone and everything. Fuck those companies, they don’t need worship.

It must require special glasses to get that view, are they pink?
Note that only 4 of 20 cities are West of the Mississippi and only 2 additional ones are in the Southeast. The 14 remaining are in Midwest and Northeast.
Could be a re-emergence of White flight in the Southwest and Northeast. Maybe they are leaving because immagrants are arriving.
They hire foreigners for high skilled labor because foreigners typically take less pay. Nigerians, Indians, Chinese, all will take less money than the average American for the same job. There are plenty of Americans that can do and want high skilled jobs, they just get fucked by companies hiring foreigners for cheap.
I thought they taught connecting the dots in kindergarten.
That’s capitalism on a global scale – no protectionism, the ‘cold invisible hand’ of Adam Smith is not wrapped in a flag, nor is GE an American company, but a global one. Citalism will engineer the cost of labor out, automate until we have a zero margin economy.
You didn’t want the enlightened, state-ist and interventionist approach the Europeans opted for. You made your bed and now the foreigners and automation will marginalize you.
We have a east Indian running SC into the ground. Your point ?

In the high tech industry Europeans, especially Germans (I.e. sebastian Thrun), Russians ( Serguy Brin), Indians (Ranjan Dash) and more and more Asians drive innovation in the US.
Half of all US patents annually are written by foreigners or first generation immigrants.
Without high-tech immigration the US would be a second- world country at best.
All those good old capitalistic ethics : hard work, delaying gratification, striving for excellence and resilience are displayed by immigrants – now Walker and other right wing politicians and commentators ( Anne Coulter) stir the pot on legal immigration.
We would decline rapidly if we could not import programers and engineers who are prepared to work long hard hours without immediately ‘ becoming six figures’.
Y’all might wanna talk a walk down the halls at USC and Clemson or look at the web sites and check out who is teaching your kids.
Government schools, AKA “public education” has dumbed down the American student to the point they cannot compete with what other countries are sending here.
Then go visit engineering departments filled with Asians and Indians and math departments filled with east Europeans In any public university paying out of state tuition and after a few years of hard work THEY get jobs at INTEL while Bubba and Mary-Lou go on welfare or flip burgers but are always in the frontline at every party.
You educate your kids to be little entitled punks that just don’t have what it takes to be successful in the 21st century – American exceptionalism my a$$, you americans are becoming the ‘leftovers of the 20th century’, and your kids will have s front row seat in watching the decline of a past Empire. Enjoy the show.
What you are saying is part of the dumbing down process I am talking about. It started in the 60’s and has gone on unabated ever sense. Liberalism at it’s finest..
You do realize that Liberals promote education and that Repubs are the one’s who cut, cut, cut education in exchange for tax breaks for the wealthy. Education is part of being a Liberal. For comparison, so even you can understand, it’s like saying Conservatives aren’t for acting like a complete asinine douche bag.
You have to read between the lines. He is saying the 60s are when they let black people into the schools. We have to overlook them, they are old and dying.
“It started in the 60’s and has gone on unabated ever sense.”
Every time I read one of these I jump up and down and get positively giddy that one of these guys are starting to wake up and see that their ideology is the cause of many of their woes, but then they go right back into their nonsense and blame it on those who don’t agree with them.
It’s like with the zero income tax. We won’t have to raise other taxes because our economy will outshine Texas! But when it doesn’t, education will be put on the chopping block. It happens in EVERY RED STATE. Cut taxes, get deficits, cut education to make up for it. It is the go to spending cut every single time. Most often the state’s own courts have to put a stop to this nonsense!
Then guys like him wonder why tuition was so affordable back in the 60’s. Probably because public schools and universities were better funded and didn’t have to start getting addicted to the drug of making students borrow more and more money? Nope, it’s a “dumbing down” by those damned liberals so they can control us! WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
Exactly, most of the people they are so worried about come from countries with excellent public education systems. Including public universities, that really are affordable. Many even offer free education through college.
The answer for America is not to retreat from education. If we want to continue to be the envy of the world, we need the best public education system in the world, the best infrastructure in the world, and the best health care system in the world.. And we need to stop retreating from science. We need public investment in research and science.
There is no such thing as a conservative republican. There are a lot of Koch politicians out there though.
Most of the countries people are coming from have free public education through college, but public education is the problem??? You nuts are going to destroy this country with your lies. We need more, not less Public education.
This is so dumb. It’s a common cycle in American cities. Growing up outside NYC in the mid to late 70s, the most common languages one heard were Italian and Greek. Some French, a little Spanish. Go to NYC today and it’s Spanish, Portuguese (thanks Brazil), Russian and Arabic, with a good bit of Chinese thrown in. 50 to 60 years ago in Milwaukee you heard German. Today it’s German, Russian and Spanish. St. Louis was heavy Italian and German. Immigrants come to the major cities, the tend to pool together, into immigrant communities. It supports the first generation arrivals, but the 2nd generation assimilate quickly, and as Billy Joel said – “Mama Leone left a note on the door – She said “Sonny move out to the country”
The problem isn’t public education. The problem is that, as a society, the US is more interested in coddling their kids and not pushing them to work hard and actually learn something in school. That’s the parents fault. Other countries put an emphasis on education in K-12 and that makes them better college/post-grad students, which equals better jobs after school.
People prove every day that K-12 public education in the US is adequate, if not exceptional, and can produce people with the needed skills for todays economy. Parents have to push their kids and instill a strong work ethic…that’s where we fail.
