|| By FITSNEWS || Billionaire real estate mogul Donald Trump‘s “say anything” presidential campaign rolls on … and this time, the filterless GOP frontrunner is blasting one of the liberal establishment “Republicans” who’s been trying to blunt his momentum.
Trump took aim this weekend at John McCain – the left-leaning U.S. Senator from Arizona who has consistently sold out taxpayers in an effort to accommodate the radical overreach of U.S. president Barack Obama.
“I don’t like losers,” Trump said at an Iowa GOP event, referring to McCain’s disastrous 2008 campaign against then-U.S. Senator Obama.
Trump also called McCain a “dummy,” a point we’ve made previously regarding the latter’s ill-conceived foreign policy views.
But it was his third slam that’s drawing criticism …
When told by moderator Frank Luntz that McCain was a “war hero,” Trump bristled at the suggestion.
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump said. “He’s a war hero because he was captured, okay. I like people that weren’t captured.”
Trump later revisited the controversial remark, saying McCain was “perhaps” a war hero.
He then sent out a tweet saying “captured or not, all our soldiers are heroes.”
McCain’s longtime bosom buddy in the U.S. Senate, Lindsey Graham (who is most assuredly not a war hero), rushed to his fellow warmonger’s defense.
“If there was ever any doubt that (Trump) should not be our commander in chief, this stupid statement should end all doubt,” Graham tweeted.
McCain has been baiting Trump recently – part of an effort by the GOP establishment to blunt his rise in the polls. In fact McCain isn’t just going after “The Donald,” he’s attacking his supporters.
Earlier this month, McCain criticized Trump’s high-flying presidential candidacy for “firing up the crazies.”

For the record, we do believe McCain – who was shot down over Vietnam and held as a prisoner-of-war for six years – was a hero. But he has long ago surrendered any claim to that mantle by repeatedly placing American men and women in harm’s way as part of his costly, ill-fated, interventionist warmongering.
Oh, and let’s not forget his affiliation with the terrorist organizations which eventually became part of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
More than any other member of the U.S. Senate (save Graham, perhaps), the blood of thousands of Americans – including those still dying as a result of PTSD – is on McCain’s hands.
Also on McCain’s hands? The shameful treatment these veterans have received from their country once their usefulness to the military-industrial complex has been exhausted.
McCain a hero? Then, yes.

This is the thing about Trump IMO:
He’s a very successful person, he’s had mostly success for most of his life. Rest assured he has a healthy self confidence/ego as a result, deservedly so.
But, if he can’t find a way to choose his words more wisely it’s going to hurt him in the long run in his quest to seek the Oval Office.
He’s probably used to sitting a table in the business world where most of those sitting there are either his employees or people who want to do a deal with him and will either “yes man” everything he says or simply ignore statements that are worded in a manner that might be offensive to the general public.
He can cry that he’s “honest” all day long, and he probably is…but if he doesn’t start tempering what he says or make some attempt to reasonably filter some of what comes out of his mouth it will eventually submarine his chances.
Right now, a percentage of people love it because it’s so refreshing in a sphere of duplicitous backstabbing pols that never mean what they say….but there is a significant group of people turned off by the way he’s delivering the “truth” and if he proceeds like he would in the business world(where people look at the bottom line, they don’t run as much on emotion)- he’s not going to make it IMO.
Sadly, the people he’s got to appeal to to win are those that aren’t part of a business world and don’t have tough enough skin to handle many of his statements….regardless if they are right or not.

McCain and virtually everyone that has ever served honorably in combat on behalf of the United States are heroes. Trump may have over spoken his bounds there but McCain has been far from a hero as a politician, his membership in the gang of 14, his affiliation with Joe Lieberman, the gang of 8, the Keating 5, and others. He consistently folds on his conservative counter parts to side with the liberals. His stance on Guantanamo and the treatment of captured enemy combatants bordered on sympathizing with the enemy. I just read the article. It also says that he received education deferrals. Those were common at the time. In fact many NG members are still given deferrals when their units are activated. The medical deferral was because he reported for the draft and was disqualified by a military doctor. not a lot you can do when Uncle Sam sends you home.

Check out some of the YouTube links some posters have left on this thread, or some of the others which show the low esteem McCain is held in by former POW’s, some who were in Hanoi with him, and POW families. McCain’s status as a “hero” is questionable at best. His status as a traitor to this country today becomes more solid with the passage of time.

I have seen conflicting reports about his conduct as a POW. I have seen no reports that he acted heroically.

I could not find a source that validated the claims that he started the fore but I found several that refuted it. There is evidence that he left the ship, without permission, and went on R/R in Saigon before requesting a transfer and returning home. While home he contemplated leaving the Navy because of his dubious reputation. There is also conflicting stories about his actions as a POW.

They hired a gay man with no military past, Daniel Brennan, to work against trump and his supporters. Brennan, who heads the Concerned Veterans for America in SC, tweets against Tump and works with various gay organizations to organize online opposition.
