The company is ultimately selling stem cells/other cells, which is what Goldfinch also did, as per news reports. Did Goldfinch have informed consent from parents to do what he did? So, if Deborah Nucatola does it, it is crime and it triggers congressional investigation….but if a state lawmaker does it and makes money, nothing happens…swept under the carpet with a misdemeanor!! Is this the America our founding fathers envisioned. Besides, I hear that Goldfinch is championing the anti-abortion thing…why doesnt he come out and say something about the Nucatola issue…?? Sadly this reminds me of a former career in organ
transplant/procurement. That was both an
uplifting and disillusioning experience.
Uplifting to see how people in times of tragedy will step up to help a
stranger. Also, how lives can change for
the better with such an act.
Disillusioning when you step back and realize the huge
amounts of money that change hands. The
donor family gets nothing but a hospital and funeral bill. The recovery crew, the doctors and hospitals
get many thousands each. The recipient
and insurance pays the fee. It is a
lucrative racket for everyone but the poor cat that died.
Even the blood you donate to the Red Cross–at that time it
sold from RC to the hospitals for $500/pint– and ended up on the hospital
bill, again paid by the family, insurance, etc.
Donors usually thought they were giving it so that it would be given at
little or no cost to those who desperately needed it. Not hardly!
Ever wonder why the Red Cross is constantly “in critical need of
blood donors” –because that’s their business model.

Abortion is legal and here to stay. I believe that this is all made up in order to scare people into believing some right wing nut job’s holy war against all things that THEY think is wrong. Personally speaking, if people want to donate the tissue from their procedures they should. All surgery, and procedures are disgusting, and abortion is not different. The thing is though, is that those stem cells are going to help cure aging illnesses, fight diseases we don’t yet have cures for, and regenerate organs for people who need them the most. We cannot look at this as an immoral practice, because many women will have an abortion in their lifetime and they need to have a place to go that’s safe, sanitary, and within a reasonable distance for them to get to it. Women have the right to choose what they want to do with their bodies. Many women do not have the means to take care of a child, and a child of a broken home is many times more likely to commit crimes and go to prison, and not grow up happy, well fed, and educated. Also, we have a problem with overpopulation, and I think it’s time we address this situation. And don’t talk about adoption. We’ve got many children in the system right now, and they are all cute and adorable, and guess what? Many of them, if not most of them, won’t get adopted. If you believe in civil liberties, then you believe in the right to choose what anyone does with their body, including women and abortion.
