Sex with children – or sex with animals – is deplorable. A fundamental violation of basic human decency and the laws of nature. In fact in our benevolent dictatorship (editor’s note: we’re working on that), certain egregious instances of criminal sexual conduct with underage children or animals would be punishable by death.
Yeah … you read that right.
Anyway, South Carolina is sadly no stranger to the “abominable crime of buggery.”
This week’s alleged perp? Philip Andrew Putnam of Charleston, S.C., who was arrested this week and charged with nine counts in connection with the sexual exploitation of a minor.
Putnam wasn’t just busted soliciting child porn, though, sources close to the case tell us police have uncovered images of him having sex with animals.
Sheesh …
Putnam is facing decades behind bars for his various crimes … but was nonetheless issued bond in the amount of $125,000.
According to a release from the office S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson, he “is to have no computer usage, remain under house arrest at parents’ residence (with specific exceptions), and have no contact with anyone under age 18.”
Um … and no contact with animals, right?

I could care less if he had sex with animals, except I am also against animal cruelty. I wouldn’t have a clue how to set a bond for that, if one was needed — maybe he would catch some horrible mad sheep disease and case closed.
In the case of child porn/exploitation – if he laid one hand on a child in an indecent manner – he not only ruined a child’s life, but he crossed a line, that even someone against the death penalty cannot pardon.
Without knowing all the details, would be difficult to make a judgment call, but children are not toys to be played with – EVER.

I agree with most of the content of the article. While I think sex with children and animals is depraved behavior, I would not throw a blanket death penalty on all cases. Severe punishment for all, and maybe in extreme cases, or child abusers, the death penalty, oh hell yes.
I hope this sentiment isn’t expressed for those of us who often refer to the people that deserve to be labelled and called certain body parts, a bodily function, and some species in the animal kingdom.
