EXPLANATIONS NEEDED …
|| By FITSNEWS || U.S. President Barack Obama and 2016 Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton couldn’t wait for the blood to dry after last month’s tragic, racially motivated “Holy City Massacre” to launch a fresh assault on the Second Amendment.
And we flatly rebuked them for it.
That was neither the time nor place for such shameless pandering to the far left … nor was the funeral of S.C. Senator Clementa Pinckney, one of the nine victims of the shooting.
But that didn’t stop Obama from doing it again.
Now it looks like Obama and Clinton have some serious explaining to do after the federal government’s gun control apparatus apparently screwed the pooch in permitting 21-year-old white supremacist Dylann Storm Roof to buy the .45-caliber handgun used during the Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting in downtown Charleston, S.C. last month.
“We are all sick this happened,” said James B. Comey, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). “We wish we could turn back time.”
Wait … what happened?
Well, Roof’s early 2015 arrest on drug charges – first obtained by FITS – would have prevented him from purchasing the weapon. Unfortunately the FBI – which administers the National Instant Criminal Background Check System – couldn’t obtain Roof’s arrest record within a three-day window after April 11, when he first attempted to purchase the firearm.
Accordingly, Roof was able to legally purchase the weapon when he returned to the same store on April 14 (the law permits stores to sell weapons if the FBI doesn’t bar them from doing so after a three-day period).
In other words the government system broke down – and the FBI began calling members of the victim’s families on Friday to inform them of the breakdown.
Ready for some predictions?
1- The government will use this as an opportunity to eliminate the three-day rule – thus making all gun sales in America contingent on federal approval, which may or may not ever come.
2- Hundreds of millions of tax dollars will be spent studying and upgrading the FBI’s background check system so that “nothing like this ever happens again.” You know, until it happens again. Because “government fail = more money.” Rinse/ repeat. Rinse/ repeat.
3- No one in government will lose their job over this.
What won’t be discussed?
1- The fact that more guns = less crime. Or that the citizens of the United States, you know, have the right to keep and bear arms.
2- The curious timing of the release of this information (literally the moment the Confederate flag was being removed from the grounds of the S.C. State House). Seriously: The feds have been investigating this shooting for almost a month. When in the course of that investigation did they stumble upon this information? And if it was more than a week ago, did they keep it under wraps because it would have slowed momentum for taking the flag down?
3- The fact Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton deserve to eat some serious crow in the aftermath of their rush to politicize this tragedy.

Anything beyond 3 days is a infringement upon an inalienable constitution right and steps over the threshold into criminal conduct by government. Check the statutes of law and case law.
Some additional info: the FBI background check examiner who evaluated Roof’s request to buy a gun never saw the arrest report because the wrong arresting agency that was listed on the list rap sheet that she reviewed.
That does not sound like an FBI screw-up, if the agent could not confirm the rap sheet because someone in Columbia screwed up.

No, one ended up in the Lexington Solicitor’s Office (drug charge), and one ended up in CITY court (the trespassing, I believe they said it was).

Nope, it was the computer system on the FBI end, that has been established (all the way down to the error itself). He was booked into the Lexington County jail (since the offense happened in Lexington county). The feds called Lexington County, and were told “Columbia”. The agent looked it up by county (ORI prefix SC032) and got WEST Columbia as the ONLY Columbia in that county. Columbia’s ORI prefix is SC040 (Richland county). Understandable mistake, and a COMPUTER DB failure.

That meant an FBI examiner using records from a state database couldn’t find the details about the arrest when Roof wanted to buy a gun.

The AP article states further that even though the Lexington County jail corrected the paperwork error in two days, the correction was not forwarded to SLED, which maintains the database the FBI was checking.

The system did mess up. That’s why it needs tightening up. Our lack of gun controls needs to be addressed. Too many people on anti-depressants possess guns. That needs to change.
One problem…. it has been almost impossible to obtain information on those who have been committed or adjudicated mentally incompetent. Further, families tend to avoid treatment to keep family members from BEING committed or adjudicated (embarrassment). As to antidepressants, too many doctors prescribe them when they shouldn’t… we’re turning into a medicated society. When I was a substitute teacher, I was APPALLED at the number of kids that were on drugs, mostly because the traditional ways of dealing with misbehaving youth were verboten.
The only drug I know he was on is Suboxone which is used for opiate withdrawals, and he’d quit taking them.The fact that he stayed at the church for over an hour,points to an acute psychotic episode.Mass murderers are usually mentally ill.It’s too bad the reaction was taking down the flag instead of reopening the state hospital.

The “Three Day Rule” is used by the feds merely to determine the disposition of someone’s arrest. If one haven’t been arrested, then it takes about 3 minutes for confirmation. I’ve proven this over a dozen times myself.

There are some people that fear that the momentum gained over the last few week will metastasize into further actions. Senator Clementa Pinckney, one of the nine victims of the shooting, believed and fought tirelessly for at his funeral because he was unabashedly liberal and persecuted white conservatives (who can go to church without fear of being shot but have to bear the burden of no longer denying that racism still exists) are offended by it.”

The error was on the part of SC Law enforcement administrators – Not The FBI. Obama’s comments were on in SC laws entitling Concealed Cary gun owners to enter the House of the Lord armed to settle grievances . The same Stand Your Ground/ Canceled Carry law entitles them to enter your home to settle their grievances with you and concealed weapons will give them the element of surprise. SC Sheriff’s won’t enforce SC’s current liberal gun laws so they will receive NRA Enforcement. Canceled Carry is in direct conflict with the 2nd Amendment/Castle doctrine & the two cannot co-exist. The next time the NRA asks you for money after a tragedy massacre think if that might be very cynical, and you might be burning both ends of the candle towards the middle. As a former NRA supporter I saw the light after Colorado Move massacre. I can’t except Sandy Hook as just a norm in protecting the 2nt amendment right. If laws exempt a certain group of people form killing unarmed people, they cannot be considered well regulated.
