STATE LAWMAKER DRAWS PRAISE … CATCHES FIRE
|| By FITSNEWS || Declaring that “I have it on good authority that the world is watching,” S.C. Rep. Jenny Horne stole the show during this week’s debate over the removal of the Confederate flag.
Horne’s tearful, impassioned plea to take down the controversial banner – along with her claim to be a direct descendant of former Confederate States of America (CSA) president Jefferson Davis – have been credited far and wide with turning the tide of battle in the chamber.
“She made me proud to be a woman,” an aide to one State Senator told us while watching the House debate.
“She represents the new south,” another politically savvy observer told us. “Bucking the good ole boys.”
Not surprisingly, national coverage has followed Horne’s moment … with one headline proclaiming “how a descendant of the president of the Confederacy helped vanquish his flag.”
Not long after Horne’s speech, the S.C. House voted 94-20 to remove the banner “free and clear” – which is exactly what the S.C. Senate voted to do earlier in the week by a 37-3 margin.
The House vote came three weeks after the horrific, racially motivated “Holy City Massacre” – the mass murder of nine black churchgoers at the Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston, S.C. The Mother Emanuel victims – among them S.C. Senator Clementa Pinckney, the church’s pastor – were gunned down during a Bible study by Dylann Storm Roof, a 21-year-old white supremacist who used the Confederate flag as his calling card.
We supported removing the flag (for more on “why” click here and here). In fact lawmakers pretty much followed our advice in taking the banner down sooner rather than later.
But now … as the dust settles from the debate … Horne’s passionate advocacy is coming under fire.
First, she’s been accused of lying about her ancestry.
Take a look …

“All known descendants (of Davis) belong to the Hayes family in Colorado,” another source confirmed, referring to descendants of Margaret Howell Davis Hayes.
In addition to questions related to her ancestry claim, Horne is also getting grilled regarding her evolving position on the amendment she so emotionally torpedoed – a proposal by S.C. Rep. Rick Quinn to build a taxpayer-funded “shrine” in the state’s government-run Confederate Relic Room.
“She was for the Quinn amendment before it made it her cry,” one pro-flag lawmaker told FITS.
Indeed multiple “Republican” lawmakers have confirmed Horne spoke in favor of the amendment at a GOP Caucus meeting mere hours before she assailed it from the floor of the House. She also reportedly gave Quinn and two other lawmakers – former majority leaders Kenny Bingham and Jimmy Merrill – here word that she would support it.
“She lied – and there’s a price to be paid in this chamber for that,” one of these lawmaker told FITS.
Specifically, the lawmaker said Horne’s chances of earning a coveted judicial nomination – which she’s been angling for in recent months – took a beating in the aftermath of her speech.
We reached out to Horne in an effort to get her take on all this but didn’t immediately hear back from her. Obviously we’ll let you know if we hear from her.
For the record, we think Horne did the right thing. Whether she did (or didn’t) tell the truth about being a descendant of Jefferson Davis – or whether she flip-flopped (or didn’t flip-flop) on the amendment in question at the last minute – those are certainly items to consider in forming one’s opinion of Horne, but ultimately we were glad to see someone stand up and say some of the things she said.
We’re also glad we didn’t have to watch what might have happened in the event she didn’t …

SC needs a scallywag monument.
A scalawog monument!
Just what we need, legislatures passing laws based on emotion instead of logic.
I thought this site thrived on hate filled emotion. You just don’t care much for compassion? Where’s the logic.
No, I thrive on hate filled emotion. LMAO!!!
Who cares? The “law” they are passing is just over a dumb flag. There is no logic in it being there or not being there. The world turns regardless of its presence.
Passing laws based on emotion is exactly how it got on the dome in the first place…
I’m going to cry if you don’t stop all this (sniffles). If you think she did the right thing, why are you bashing her?
He is not bashing her, he is REPORTING the story.
What is there to REPORT? That a woman became emotional about a “horrific racially motivated incident?” We get it.
That she lied about her heritage in a debate about heritage, and she reneged on her caucas.
If your spelling was more accurate, given the one sentence you typed, it might lend credibility to your argument. As it stands, I question if you know what those words mean.
It cut off the debate that had gone on all day.
I just listened to her comments. She made national news. Soon after her speech, they reached an agreement. Good for her.
“ultimately we were glad to see someone stand up and say some of the things she said.”
Because nobody else was willing or able to stand up and call for the removal of the confederate flag. Oh, wait…
+100 – “this is not about Jenny Horne” wait what? The whole grandstanding moment was totally about Jenny Davis Horne. To read the coverage the flag just wasn’t coming down but for her.
She needs to be memed ASAP. These pictures are too good.
Here’s the first – http://s5.postimg.org/xej1l93af/horne.jpg

“The House vote came three weeks after the horrific, racially motivated “Holy City Massacre”

It looks like she’s in early stages of Mad Cow Disease.
Squishy you never fail to humor me. I cannot click like on that, but it is funny!
Maybe she’s trans-ancestry, if she wants to be a descendent of Jefferson Davis then she has every right to be.
So you’re saying she just identifies as a descendant of Jefferson Davis. Well she’s a Democrat so she’s allowed to identify as being a Cherokee or named after Sir Edmund Hillary or you know fill in the blank
I’m just a plain cis-ancestor.
Instead calling the liberal Republicans, RINOS, we could call them Trans party Republicans
Maybe I need to listen again. I don’t get it. Though I agree I thought it was more histrionics than anything.
Perhaps she misspoke — she meant to say that she was descended (dropped?) from Tammy Faye Baker……
I agree…she looked like she was having a hormonal moment to me. She was choking back tears today during a network interview. She just comes across as hysterical.
Looks like her womb has flipped over.
In her defense she may be descended from him though one of the slave children he fathered.
You got that right.
The Quinn amendment failed to get tabled the first time by 2 votes, then they had to wait an hour to vote again. it passed by several votes. I would like to know who changed their vote.
I know it is here somewhere.

jesus , gag her with a bloody tampon. this is why women shouldnt vote
My Cousin Judge in Ft. Payne, AL called to tell me that it has been confirmed, and is official, that Jefferson Davis has turned over in his grave..!!
“She lied – and there’s a price to be paid in this chamber for that,”
Yep! And just wait until she has to walk the ‘mean streets’ in her district begging to be reelected…..
She is definitely not a direct descendant of Jefferson Davis, but she could still be distantly related to him through a common ancestor. Jefferson Davis grandfather was Evan Davis who had three sons. Evan Davis along with Jefferson Davis father Samuel and the other two sons migrated from Pennsylvania to the Carolinas. Samuel eventually settled in Georgia before relocating to Ky where Jefferson Davis was born. Samuel left Ky and settled in Mississippi along with his family that included his son Jefferson. Samuels brothers remained in SC. These two brothers had several children. There are South Carolinians alive today descended from the brothers of Jefferson Davis father Samuel. Rep. Horne could be descended from Evan Davis who was Jefferson Davis grandfather, making her related to him. So she probably should have said “related to Jefferson Davis.”
“I’m a descendant of a close relative of Jefferson Davis” would have been more accurate. Or even better, “I share common ancestry with Jefferson Davis.”
I was embarrassed for her during that speech. If women want to be treated equally, they have to quit crying. Also she’s not hot enough to get away with it.
Jenny is a Converse Chellis type of Republican. They do very little and always have their hand out looking for freebies and more.
BTW, she is fat.
Chellis and his son contributed to her campaign
Fits questions her ancestry, what I’m interested in is she said that an economic development project in Dorchester was being held up because of the flag. Does anyone out in fitsworld snow anything?
I would be interested to see here genealogy, also. As for Jefferson Davis, He may have supported bringing the flag down. He was not in favor of secession and did not want the civil war. He came home to serve because his State wanted him to. He served as the Secretary of Defense Prior to the war and actually modernized the US Army that would later defeat his Confederate Forces. The source for this information is Beauvoir,
I don’t know which is better
Watching that stupid banner of hate come down or watching all these “conservatives” figuratively crying in their beer.
The ghost of Jeff Davis respectfully requests that Ms. Horne watch this…

Holy Shit!!!! I had no idea that Mama June had already found gainful employment, much less had become a SC legislator, since they canceled her daughter’s reality show on cable.
I knew it wouldn’t be long before the establishment started tearing her down. #IStandWithJenny
Ever think it’s because Jenny “Me So” Horne’s nothing more than a hysterical screaming bitch? Fellow legislators said she was fine two minutes prior to the theatrics she put on, and that she was planning on voting for Quinn’s amendment. Then she went all alligator teary while everyone stared at her like “this bitch has lost her mind”.
The pic makes her look like an overweight menopausal woman who can’t contain her emotions.
In other words, the photo has great fidelity in relation to the subject.
:-)
It appears Jenny Horne lied about being a direct descendant of Jefferson Davis. She has been known to lie about more important issues this past year.
Horne was promised a state judgeship by Jean Toal in exchange for being one of her top whores with Toal’s last re-election campaign. Horne toted the briefcase and cut some of the crucial deals like the ones with Tom Davis, Chip Campsen and Wes Hayes. Horne will not consider this latest lie as anything more than speaking in the heat of the moment. She will later say that “What I meant to say, was…..some crap.”
Toal’s stock and Horne’s stock have both dipped dramatically in the past few weeks. Horne can kiss that judgeship good bye and Toal will soon learn once she is gone, she is going to have all the political “power” Glenn McConnell has had in this flag mess: None.
Jenny is a disgrace as well as the rest of th house and senate. Please include t-bone and his liberalrats also.
She may have more nigger DNA in her than Davis DNA just trying to cover it up..
Her behavior just shows the reason we dont need females in high places.
Jenny as well as the House and the Senate are a disgrace to our great state. Might as well add t-bone and his libralorats to the disgraced list. These elected officals have done absolutely NOTHING but bring disgrace to South Carolina.
Jenny rocked the nation.
Good for her!
Jeezzz not so much as a hat tip?
OK fine by me, Jenny Horne is a joke and the theater she produced wasn’t needed. Main stream media had a nutty over her Jefferson Davis comment that anyone with even the smallest understanding of Civil War history would have spotted.
As far as the flag, at the point Nikki Hayle said “without ill will” it was a good to go. Embarrassingly in the following days the Walmart, Amazon, eBay, National Park Service, Obama and Bree Newsome then add the vandalism of monuments and statues to the fray and you could tell there would be a push back.
Frankly the Flag was cool when it flew atop the statehouse, it lost the cool factor when it popped up on a sad little pole next to a monument and statue on the front lawn.
I’m glad it’s gone, but it accomplishes nothing.
TRANSLATION: The dogs
is loose and chickens are coming home to roost as gutless RINOs try to trash
the Confederate flag
Like…I-Lie-To-Conservatives-Joe Wilson and
Stab-‘Em-In-The-Back-Nikki Haley…who do so like wax scum hypocrite and brag
That they’re just jerking their knee at the altar of PC
because their heads are so far up John Boehner for what THEY can get
And that…why of course I lied to conservatives to get my
worthless behind elected and you know they keep re-electing me yet
But these same scum led the PC crowd to trash Southern
Heritage and the valor of soldiers by jerking down the flag in SC
And when they AND OTHER RINOs get their political heads
handed to them next time around we can’t wait for their…who?…ME ???
I am a registered voter in SC. I had 22 relatives who fought in SC Units during the Civil War. None owned slaves. All were proud of their service.
I am ashamed of Jenny Horne. She lied in the chamber and she should be impeached or should resign for the good of the public.
Another lying lawyer.
Friend of Governor Nicki Hayley. I voted for her once but never again. She said she did not receive a single email about the removal of the Confederate Flag. I sent her one. So that is a LIE.
What is wrong with these politically correct republican women. They should be replaced by men with honor, who have served in the military.
