Her brother – 21-year-old Dylann Storm Roof – is the white supremacist who murdered nine black South Carolinians at the historic Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston, S.C. last month.
To her credit, Amber Roof – whose wedding was supposed to take place on the Saturday after the “Holy City Massacre” – was the individual who identified her brother to law enforcement as the perpetrator of the attack.
Good for her …
Dylann Roof was eventually captured in Shelby, N.C. and returned to Charleston – where he is awaiting trial on nine murder charges.
Anyway, Amber Roof has lost whatever good will she may have engendered by giving up her brother …
“As many of you know Michael and I had to abruptly cancel our wedding day, due to the tragedy that occurred in Charleston,” she wrote on a Go Fund Me page created last weekend. “June 21st was supposed to be the happiest day of our lives. It is the day every girl dreams of, it was the day we dreamed of.”
“We had each other, we have the perfect venue, and we had our vows ready to be read. We were ready! We had planned out every detail for months and months. It was going to be the PERFECT day!” she continued.
Until … this.
“Our day was the exact opposite. Our wedding day was full of sorrow, pain, and shame, tainted by the actions of one man,” she wrote. “The Charleston Massacre took place and our lives were forever changed. The media abused our privacy and published all of our wedding information and destroyed our dream day. Destroying the first day of Michael and my life together.”
Again, we feel sorry for her (and her fiancee) … we really do.
But seriously … who does this?
And who gives money to something like this?
“While it’s not by her own actions that this horrible event occurred, it’s still very inappropriate for her to even THINK of launching this GoFundMe campaign,” one of our founding editor’s Facebook friend’s wrote. “There are people who will never see their family member ever again. It’s the wrong time to be concerned about a ‘dream honeymoon.'”

Roof had raised close to $2,000 for her honeymoon when the site was yanked … apparently by her.
Good. Amber Roof should have known better than to ever publicize such a solicitation. At least she had the good sense to take it down.

I bet that the military people that designed some of the World War Two propaganda were probably your relatives. While all enemies suffered, the “Japs” drew a particularly cruel depiction in some of the propaganda that was distributed. I know they were your relatives because they referred to them as piss-ants and cock-a-roaches.

For sure none of my relatives worked in military propaganda. Well, other than my Dad as a recruiter . I do remember going with him around to those isolated, truly dirt-poor farms in Arkansas, and watching and listeneing to him tell folks how wonderful the Army is. You would have thought he was their best friend for life! He was THE top recruiter in the Army about three times. Somewhere I have the newspaper clipping where he recruited 46 guys in one month (1 failed the physical). These are some of the family records I need to preserve and publish for my family. She should have had the foresight to know that while she would engender some sympathy, the majority of people would be put off by her actions.
Her brother”s actions has put her in the spotlight and people will be critiquing just about every thing she does. She will not draw much sympathy for her plight, thrust upon her by her brother’s actions.A time to put off plans and deal with the situation.
Maybe some of the 9 families will share some of that $29 million Obama gave them for their trouble.

Asking for public donations wasn’t the smartest or most understanding thing that she could have done but she does not deserve to be insulted or ridiculed because of her brother. She notified the authorities when she saw the pictures and identified her brother. She provided valuable information that led to his capture. Her information helped them gather the necessary information so that a BOLO could be issued and the media be alerted. Without that information he made have driven through NC unnoticed. Dylan Roof deserves to die for what he did but does his sister deserve to be ridiculed?

You can choose your friends but not your family. As for her brother, If they had a lottery to decide who had the privilege of putting a needle in his arm, I would sell my house to buy as many tickets for that lottery as possible.

On the other hand, the $29 million Obama handed to the families of the shooting haven’t told the taxpayers thank you. Those nine families received more money from Obama than the Boston Bombing victims, the Sandy Hook shooting victims and the Aurora theater shooting victims did combined. $3.2 million per family. “You’re welcome, if you had been white you would have maybe received 10% of that.”
