The feud between the two politicians had been going on for years, but finally one day his opponent’s bullying, thieving tactics caused the politician to blow his stack. He vented his spleen in a venomous letter, but when his seasoned secretary brought it in for his signature,
she ventured the opinion that it was a bit strong. So he cut a few of the most offensive bits, but the secretary still felt it should be toned down.
“All right,” he grumbled as he struck out a few more choice phrases, “But at this rate that schmuck’s likely to miss the point entirely.”
Finally, the secretary brought in the third version for his
approval. “I suppose this’ll have to do,” said the politician grudgingly, “but you’ve made a couple of typing errors. There’s no ‘C’ in extortion, subpoena has an ‘O’ in it, and his wife’s name is Lucille.”
