As far as I’m concerned, it does have naval historical significance and I don’t mind funds going to preserve. Much like the Enola Gaye or whatever they salvage from the Monitor.
Devices that changed history deserve preservation and if it requires government funding I have no problem with that.
If not we truly become a nation where the ‘here and now” is the only thing that matters and we will be poorer for it.
If we use FITS’ attitude the Tomb of the Unknown soldier should be run by Disney……..Hey, honoring the dead who gave their lives in defense of this country is not a core function of government – right?
Because obviously finding and preserving the first submarine to sink an enemy ship isn’t important to the Military History of the world.
Let a museum fund it. Or the world, if it’s that important. Or just display the wreckage and put lots of DW-40 on it. Why does it need to be restored? Are Bright, Chumley and Browder planning to take back into the drink to do battle with the US Navy?

I was seriously considering voting for Cruz (ONLY because one of his main proposals was for no BS overhaul of the IRS to a flat tax)—–but if that slime Lee Bright is involved forget it.

‘let the state decide’ is a typical cowardly non-answer from a typical coward. there is no debate as to who will make the decision. everyone knows the state’s government will ultimately decide. so when one is asked about the flag, this is not the point. imagine being asked your opinion about the flag and responding ‘it is red and blue and white’
