UPSTATE RETAILER IS GROUND ZERO FOR CONFEDERATE MOVEMENT
|| By FITSNEWS || Upstate retailer Dixie Republic bills itself as “The South’s Largest Confederate Store.” Located in Travelers Rest, S.C. on S.C. Highway 25, it’s been a busy place lately.
The ongoing controversy over the Confederate flag – fueled by this month’s horrific, racially motivated church shooting in Charleston, S.C. – has sparked such a “spike in demand” that the store has had to temporarily shut down its internet site and online ordering capability.
“Dixie Republic Online orders have been overwhelming and if you’ve placed an order in the past week, I regret that your order is not going to be processed as quickly as I would like,” store owner Scott Goldsmith wrote on Dixie Republic’s webpage this week. “We’ve made the decision to stop online orders temporarily until we can assess existing orders against our current stock.”
Of course he encourages customers to visit his “large brick and mortar” location, “where I maintain a larger inventory than most.”
Goldsmith closes his letter “God save the South.”
Justin Alexander, a strident tax hike opponent in Greenville, S.C., paid a visit to Goldsmith’s store last week.
“It’s mostly what you would expect, Southern heritage items, the Confederate flag on everything. Sometimes in defiance (come and take it), sometimes unadorned, sometimes with puppies,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “There’s some unexpected items, like faux aged Marvel superhero tin signs. There’s a small selection of books that run the gamut from hokey humor to serious evaluations of history.”
Interesting …
“I also found for sale the flags of Rhodesia, apartheid South Africa, and White Pride,” Alexander wrote. “And a book glorifying the murder of interracial couples.”
Whoa …
Along with the Confederate flag, the Rhodesian flag and the pre-apartheid flag of South Africa were among the banners embraced by white supremacist Dylann Storm Roof. He’s the 21-year-old confessed perpetrator of the “Holy City Massacre,” which claimed the lives of nine churchgoers at the historic Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston, S.C. on June 17.
In fact Roof’s website – loaded with Confederate flag imagery and white supremacist symbols – was called “The Last Rhodesian,” an homage to the African nation’s segregationist past.
It also contained pro-Nazi references.
Why is that interesting?
Well, Goldsmith’s Facebook page (well, the page he shows to the public) references just one “liked” movie – the 1935 Nazi propaganda film, Triumph of the Will.
Pic: via Facebook
It also includes just one “liked” book – “I’ll Take My Stand,” a collection of essays romanticizing the South’s agrarian roots.
Goldsmith was an art professor for several years at North Greenville College in Tigerville, S.C. – although he lost his job at the private institution in 2003 after allegedly making offensive comments related to his brand of Southern heritage. At the time, Goldsmith insisted he was fired because of his membership in the League of the South – a group which describes itself as “a Southern Nationalist organization whose ultimate goal is a free and independent Southern republic.”
In addition to being outspoken regarding his Confederate sympathies, Goldsmith is extremely active politically – having supported politicians like S.C. Senator Tom Corbin and State Rep. Bill Chumley, both of whom oppose removing the Confederate flag from its current location on the north lawn of the S.C. State House.
Goldsmith hosted an event for Corbin in 2010, and has donated money to Chumley’s campaign.
Obviously Goldsmith is entitled to his beliefs. More importantly, he’s also entitled to make a profit advancing them. That’s individual liberty – and the free market – at work. As we wrote in this post, we don’t begrudge flag supporters – we simply believe the time has come to remove the controversial banner from its prominent place in front of the state’s most public building.
Of course while we embrace freedom and free markets – even when it moves in directions with which we disagree – it’s critical to remember that the core function of a limited government is to preserve these two foundational underpinnings for all people, regardless of creed, color, gender or sexual orientation.

No different than Will repeating himself day after day for the past two weeks here. The more he repeats himself, the more traffic his site generates and the more money Will makes. To be successful, you don’t sell what you believe, you sell what people will buy.
Doesn’t stop you from contributing your own clicks.
Will thanks you for clicking and responding.
No problem. I wasn’t the one complaining about what he writes.
Pay no attention to morons. It’s been a rough week especially for this racist, in addition to the SCOTUS rulings and news his orange kicker is a snowblower. But the sun rose today and he can continue living a few centuries behind the rest of us.
part-time working I looked at the draft which said $9958@mk3

So WYFF TV 4 employees a racist.
Do tell…
??
That’s one giant leap in logic.
Where’s your proof to make that statement?
I don’t think it is a stretch to say League of the South is racist. Just listen to this one video describing their people “white Europeans”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=160&v=EuodnF30fF8
There have been a number of racist comments posted from that group by other groups.
I also find this interesting (note the full story is no longer available on WYFF TV4 link):
“Art Teacher Sues North Greenville College
Goldsmith Claims Firing Was Over Heritage Group
The Carolina Channel
July 29, 2003
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Joseph Scott Goldsmith has filed a lawsuit against the school.
Scott Goldsmith is the husband of WYFF’s News 4 anchor Carol Goldsmith.
The suit says that Goldsmith worked at the private college for 6 years and accepted an offer to teach again in the fall.
Goldsmith said that he learned he was let go because the school found out he was a member of the League of the South.
The League of the South Web site said that it is a Southern heritage organization that seeks southern independence.
However, a civil-rights organization in Alabama, the Southern Poverty Law Center, lists the league as a hate group.
Goldsmith’s attorney said that the school’s decision violated state law.
“You can’t terminate someone because of their race,” Andrew Arnold told News 4. “You can’t terminate someone because of their religion and in South Carolina you can’t terminate someone because of their political opinions.”

When people are married they have a tendency to blend together over time. I cannot imagine being married to someone who is racist unless I in some way shared those views.
Meh, he may be a virulent racist and she may just be a dumbass for living with him ooooooooorrrrrrrrrrr,
he may just be a marginal member of the group that once held many of the south’s educational elite. Time was when being a member of the League of the South was pro forma for southern professors – that time has come and gone but there are many “members in name only” out there.
I had a response typed up, but couldn’t get it to post. You may be right.
What you have done is indict Mrs. Goldsmith and Channel 4 based on absolutely no connection what so ever . Yes, he is her husband, but I don’t buy the logic that makes her and Channel 4 some kind of racists.
“When people are married they have a tendency to blend together over time.”
That is pure conjecture on your part and a very weak attempt at making the connection you desire. You also have no evidence that she is a member of the League of the South.
I am also not defending “The League of the South,” Mr. Goldsmith may be guilty by association, or he may not be, But again, no connection to Mrs. Goldsmith or Channel 4 is evident. You seem to be looking for something to smear as many people as you can.
I’ve no axe to grind. I am making an observation that apparently offends your beliefs. I never said she was a member, but is married to a member. Conjecture. Perhaps. Think about it – could you stay in a long term relationship with someone so passionate about something that you were opposed to? I couldn’t.
No.You are defaming and libeling the wife.
Chew that Tea Party rag.
I am going to the corner to cry.
Here’s a roll of toilet paper for you.
Thank you for your concern. Maybe later, I bet you would love to wipe me. Are you into kinky stuff?
You occasionally post something worth reading. It’s those rare moments that I look forward to a dialogue. To be honest, I really don’t care for the nastiness of it all.
There’s not going to be any left, after you’re done with it.
Yeah, my ass is that big and don’t forget it. ha! (where is the sarcasm font?)
No sarcasm needed there.
Small in comparison to the arses you run with?
Nope.
I bet her home school curriculum is a doozy. :)
Now what’s the point in that?
It will eventually disintegrate.
Maybe you ought to chew it then, power jaws. We’re on a time crunch.
Kerry/Karen — I’ve never underestimated the consequences of a political hack scorned. You may have underestimated me. Time will tell the tale.
You think your veiled threats scare people off. We are all entitled to our opinions and it is not against the law to exercise those opinions. You certainly spout enough of yours. If there is libel or defamation happening on this site – YOU are the one who should be afraid.
Carol gonna sue your sorry ass!!!!
You aren’t scaring me. It is not against the law to have an opinion.
You libeled this woman…and continue to do so. She apparently is NOT even married to that guy.
I got no skin in the game.Let her decide after she reads it.
It was NOT published that she is no longer married. The article stated she is. Nothing on the internet said otherwise. I did a ton of research looking for the divorce. I think I found it, but they used initials, so it was difficult to find.
After that time I also did some research about her. Such as this: http://www.wyff4.com/news/local-news/greenville-news/17997964
There is no malicious intent, nor desire to injure her reputation. I don’t even watch her on WYFF. Never even heard her name until the article. So by all means, let her read it and decide.
What you are trying to do is run me off the site because we have different opinions. You constantly make threats of lawsuits, you have spread rumors that I work for the FBI which is a flat out lie with malicious intent. You are constantly on the attack, even when I thank you for posting the information earlier today. You are not interested in dialogue unless I support everything you believe. I do not. I will not. You cannot force me to, no matter how many times you threaten me or spread false rumors about me.
A “ton of research looking for the divorce”? Jeez, that’s sad.
That is sad – why don’t you publish the link? You seem to know a lot about the topic, where is your proof of divorce? Good luck finding it. I’ve given enough clues that you might, but for since you know so much, why not post a link?
Don’t need one. It’s sad that you’re wasting so much of your time on people you don’t even know.
Is that the pot calling the kettle black?
Nope.
No, you should.
Prove it IDGAF or shut up. I am not afraid of you. Nor any of your cronies. So put up or shut up.
“Put up or shut up” or “put out or get out”?
We’ve been down this road….see other comments. You hate FITSNews? Keep commenting. Between the multitude of us (us = me and you/cronies), we’ll certainly drive up comments. I’m not going anywhere soon. You?
Pretty soon. See power jaws comment. We’re on a time crunch. 9″ is coming over.
You gonna need more than 9 inches to shut me up.
I can believe that. I imagine it’s pretty…gaping.
A natural childbirth and wanna scare me with 9″?

Sybil does not get it. She just feels pissed and sumbody gotta pay.
LMAO! Who is pissed? Did I walk into the arguing room? I am just stating my opinions. Have fun debating with yourselves. I check in later.
Yep.
Sybil, you are are not offending my beliefs, you are a mere piss ant on the ass of progress.
You are desperately trying to make a connection that does not exist. I got a speeding ticket once, my ex-wife did not have to pay a fine or lose any points on her license. And to top it all off, the bitch did not feel sorry for me.
Is that why she is now your EX wife? ;)
No one gives a fuck what you could or couldn’t do.
You might want to consider taking up needlepoint, or something where you can use your hands and not your mouth, dumbass.
Just Another Guy • an hour ago
Sic, you do know that Carol and him are divorced, right? Or did you not do your research.
_______________
Sybil must have just clocked in and didn’t get the word? :))))))
I did not know that – that is a reasonable debate. Thank you.
You should consider taking up a hobby that doesn’t involve speculating over marital statuses between two people with whom you apparently have NOTHING in common with.
Hey IDGAF – my hobbies and opinions are my own. As are yours. Would you like for me to tell you what to do? If so, two words, one begins with F and the other ends with F.
Yes, I would very much like you to tell me what to do, especially since I’ve always wanted to hear it from Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner.
I am taking that literal – how about shutting your trap? Ever try that? I guarantee you instant increase in popularity. When you are at the bottom, no where to go but up.
I don’t care about popularity. That’s our difference.
You do care and THAT my friend is the difference.
If I cared, I wouldn’t be on here.
Then why are you on here?
Yes, I’d very much like you to tell me what to do. It’s the closest I’ll get to hearing it from Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner. BTW, there’s a big business in being a “celeb” doppelganger – maybe you can fit that in with reviewing contracts.
Ooh, “fuck off?” Wow, now you’re really got me quivering in my Timberlands.
Good.
Racist.
Ditto!
Damn SYNTwist.What Garbage.Frankly it just ain’t Right.
You’re a fucking moron, and your attempt at armchair psychology is pathetic. It’s a good thing there are others out there who don’t fall victim to your sweeping generalizations.
I see one person like your comment — YOU. No surprises there.
That’s the best you’ve got?
No, just the best I am willing to share right now. Plenty more where that came from.
Good.
Don’t ever go into law.
No intentions, but better at reading contracts than you will ever be. Remember IDGAF, as you well coined, I am a narc….LMAO. You never cease to amaze me with your inventions.
Spoken like a true dumbass, thinking they can outsmart an actual lawyer. While you’re busy doing your “LMAO” routine, we’ll see what gets conjured up.
I’ve got friend in low places, some of those are lawyers. Keep japping at the jaw and “conjure” up whatever means you need to shut me up — but be prepared for resistance.
I’m in an even lower place. I don’t care if you shut up or not. In fact, keep talking.
Give it a rest, This place and these people will disappear in time and of their own accord.
Don’t miss our next debate when Will debates himself.
Topic: Who is more self righteous, me or me?
They should rename the town Travelors Keep Rolling.
“We don’t like yer kind round here!”
If only face would just roll on out of SC.
Kiss My Ass.
A rough week for that relic as well. Head in the sand, ignorant, and living a few centuries in the past. Everyone has to look like him, talk like him, and act like him. Now the flag is coming down and them gays can marry. To top it off, let’s hope a fresh busload of Buckeyes roll up into his neighborhood.
Did not know who owned/ran the store or that Carol Goldsmith was his wife – that surprises me.
I’ve passed that store a bugzillion times (it’s on the south side of US 25 a few miles before you reach Furman) I live in “Dark Corner” region on the Spartanburg county side so it’s the way we go to the north side of Greenville
I’ve not seen more than 2-3 cars in the parking lot at any one time and it is dumpy looking (I can’t say how full the parking lot was this weekend but we went by there on Saturday 20 June and again, 2-3 cars as usual…)
That this dude had ties to Corbin does not surprise me. Northern Greenville county is a real nice area and deserves better than these misfits – that’s for sure
One more thing that is ironic….That is not far from the “Dark Corner” area of which I also reside.
****Dark Corner” got it’s name because it was an area of UNION sympathy during the Civil War!!!!***********
The story goes that some guy was making a passionate speech for the Confederacy while standing on a wagon. The locals pushed him off the wagon and told him to fuck off. He got mad and said “You people live in the darkest corner of the world”
“Dark Corner” was where you fled to avoid being conscripted into the Rebel Army!!!!
So much for “Southern heritage”!!!!!!
Actually the “dark corner” name began during the debates on nullification. It has since meant the close tie of the area to moonshine. I have never heard your version.
Yep. I had never heard sparkle’s version either…
It’s not my version, like I posted it was from a professor from the Upstate first, locals second and in the DVD about “Dark Corner”
We went to the lecture during the initial release of the video at the Museum of the Upstate in Greenville some years back. I have a copy of the video and it was shown on SCETV some years back. You still might be able to buy a copy
Also, did you know that Glassy Mountain (itself) was used as artillery practice during WWI? They would convoy from Camp Woodsworth in Spartanburg and shoot the hell out of Glassy Mountain!!!!!
There is a book about it for sell at Hub-Bub books in Spartanburg (They specialize in books written concerning Spartanburg and the surrounding area).. The book is titled “Spartanburg’s War Camps” or something like that – it’s about Camp Woodsworth in WWI and Camp Croft in WWII). I’ve got a copy somewhere.
SHAMELESS PLUG WARNING!!!!!
“Hub-Bub’ dose an excellent job of publishing and selling books about the Spartanburg area – I’m not affiliated with the organization but do enjoy the books – get one for Christmas or Birthday every now and then……..
I’ve seen the documentary. I don’t remember hearing that version of the name. I’ll have to re-watch. But, like I said, the “squire” has used many different versions for the name over the years. I have an autographed copy of his book around here somewhere. I’ll have to locate it and see what’s in there.
Doesn’t matter, though.
They still find artillery rounds up there from time to time.
The first time I heard it was when I was in summer school at USC-Spartanburg (not fucking Upstate!!!) back in 1978. US history 1860 to Present (or something like that)
The professor did his doctorate on the Civil War in Upstate of South Carolina and is a local guy (big tall red-headed fellow who grew up working in the peach sheds of Spartanburg County) I am not a native of South Carolina and did not live in “Dark Corner’ back then but was fascinated by his lecture. He knows his stuff. I have a degree in Science and Technology so I was going there in the summer to save money because I was going out of state for my BS degree. I’ve called him a few times over the years concerning this flag BS (he has since retired of course) and I don’t doubt his research, his lectures or his opinion.
When I bought my property in the Dark Corner area back in the early 80’s I heard the story a number of times and there is a DVD from the “Squire of Dark Corner” who also confirms the story. The video was made after they started developing Glassy Mountain (I used to hang glide there back in the day) into the big bucks development it has become.
Truth is that the Upstate area WAS NOT solid confederacy and the Dark Corner region was definitely not pro-confederacy
So much for these dickheads who spout off “MY Her-a-tige” who are native to the Upstate!!!!!!!
There was a shitload of “I ain’t fighting no rich man’s war” attitude in the Upstate of South Carolina – and it is funny as shit that a shop for “Southern Heritage” is in the same area of UNION sympathy during the Civil War!!!!!!
You can find many different versions of why it got it’s name. Your version “could” be as true as any of the other versions, so I’m not saying you are wrong…
The “Squire” seems to be a little unreliable…I’ve heard him also say it was named Dark Corner because it was so heavily wooded. and difficult to get into. His stories seem to get better with time, so who knows how much is embellishment or truth. Word of mouth history is not very reliable.
I’ve also heard the name attributed to the fact that it was an easy place to hide…Confederate deserters reportedly hid-out in the area. The “official” version of where the name came from seems to be the anti-nullification sentiment that was mentioned above.
Mostly I think the people of the Dark Corner just wanted to be left alone and didn’t care one way or another about the war. To call it an area of Union sympathy is stretching the truth a bit I believe. It seems that they just didn’t want to be involved at all. Opinions vary among the locals, though.
Ever hear of the state of Franklin Tennessee or my home state of West-by God Virginia????
I posted about hiding from conscription and desertion goes hand in hand along with that.
“Not doing your part” by avoiding being drafted or deserting sure fits the bill of not being pro-confederate don’t it?????
But the “MY Her-A-Tige” crowd sure as hell would not admit the truth now would they?????
One thing I think we can agree with that the more corbin is shown to be what he shows how the people in his senate district need to get rid of his ass
Got an unCivil War deserter in my family tree – he’s the smartest of the three brothers since the other two never came home..
Got an unCivil War deserter in my family tree – he’s the smartest of the three brothers since the other two never came home..
You’re starting to sound like Smedley Butler…
Sound like maybe but Smedley was a genuine, no shit, real deal warrior who went way off the deep end (I’m just having a little fun). Brother Butler was convinced that there was a plot by “big business”to overthrow FDR. There was just enough truth to his allegations for it to be plausible but in the end it turned out to be so much hooey.
Butler was a genuine badass, two, yes, two Medals of Honor (justifiably awarded) plus a Marine Corps Brevet Medal (a promotion for heroism, ranking one step below the MoH.) Army and Navy Distinguished Service Medals. He stole decking from a port in France so his Marines wouldn’t have to sleep in the mud, my kind of guy even if he was a little “cuckoo for cocoa puffs”.
Not being “pro-confederate” and being “pro-union” are not the same. Being anti-nullification is probably the best argument for being “pro-union” but could also have been not wanting to upset the status quo of the time. But, like I said, they wanted “everyone” to leave them alone…let’s call them Switzerland. I have heard many different stories for the rest of the Upstate too. I couldn’t tell you which is correct though.
Not that it matters now. You can believe whatever story you want. There’s many to choose from.
We definitely agree about Corbin. I’ve heard from people looking to recruit a challenger for the next election…we’ll see.
let’s hope so but he is one of the “blessed 3” (Senators Bright, Corbin and Martin) that are totally in the Spartanburg Tea Party’s corner and we know how they come out to vote.
I’ll support anyone who runs against Corbin fer sure (sadly he is my Senate rep too).
Finding out that he is supported by this dude who runs this shop is not surprising.
Too bad too, like I posted, TR is a really nice place. Bought a great Rottweiler from a lady in Marietta years ago.
“There was a shitload of “I ain’t fighting no rich man’s war” attitude in the Upstate of South Carolina”
Now upstaters can’t wait to lick the rich man’s boots.
Can’t argue with that but don’t leave the whole state of South Carolina when it comes to whoring for factories and such…….
No worries pork chop.In about 5 years Fits will have a story about a store selling American Flags, the Constitution and Bible’s and you can celebrate the attacks, mocking and demands to close it.
What the fuck are you talking about????
I never once posted anything about closing this piss-ant store down, let along celebrating its demise
Like I posted, the most cars I have EVER seen are 2 or 3 fucking cars for crying out loud.
The Dark Corner is in North Greenville County you carpetbagger. Get your facts straight. If you don’t believe me I’ll introduce you to a couple of Plumleys who will educate you right quick like.
You’re the one who don’t know shit.
Ask any local of “Dark Corner’ where “Dark Corner’ is and they will say “it’s just a little further up the road”
i’ll take your Plumleys and raise you some Pittman’s you ignorant jackass!!!
NAP TIME.COME TAKE YOUR MEDS!
Yess….MOAR FLAG POSTS.
Looks like he’s got a good crowd in the parking lot. Willing to bet that there will be big business in flags for a while and then the ruckus will die down.
The flag will come down. Some people will be mad as hell; some people will be celebrating and shouting from roof tops with joy; and most people won’t really care. The media will spin the Wheel of Distraction™ again and we will all get something new to grouse about on FitsNews and nothing else will change.
If you ask me, they should put the flag on top of the SCDOT building on Park Street. Maybe the roads will get some attention, because nothing draws attention like a Confederate Flag.
I’ve got a better idea if we want to fix the roads using the confederate flag, let’s paint all the pot holes with Confederate flags – they’d kill themselves to get them all filled in quickly…
I’ll spring for a case of red paint. You know I have experience painting over old signs. LOL
I wonder if they could charge us with some kind of graffiti charge. If I backed up with a dump truck full of asphalt and started filling in some of the holes they’d probably charge me with “improving a public conveyance” or some such silliness.
How about a brigade of stealth painters — with cans of white reflective(?) spray paint showing an arrow to the pothole, and then the outline of it? I’ve always wanted to do that, but I chickened out……
I’m in!
Maybe we should paint under the flag and pothole. Something to the effect of:
This confederate flag and pothole brought to you courtesy of Hugh Leatherman*.
* Name of politician will change daily.
I like the idea of signs that say –
“This pothole brought to by the Ineffective State Senator John Courson and State Representative Beth Bernstein”.
We print them up for each county/representative and place them all over each of our “Tweedledumb and Tweedledee” representatives’ districts.
A few of those signs and you’ll be hounded down by the SCDOT for not getting proper authorization to construct signs. After spending thousands to find and prosecute you, the pot hole will still remain unfilled out of budgetary concerns.
Uncle Ruckus died? NOOO!!!!!!!!!
Please say it isn’t so.
+100
A crowded parking lot in a joint like that is a great opportunity for us blue beret wearing UN troops (like myself) to get tag numbers for when the balloon goes up and we mount the black helicopters to quash the rebellion
Nothing like easy intel!!!!!
All kidding aside, it wouldn’t surprise me if we learned that someone had been recording license plate numbers – or is my tinfoil hat showing again…
I doubt that their tag numbers are being recorded but just you get stopped with an issue of “High Times” on the front seat –that’s a ticket to getting your car searched (due to probable cause) fer sure
Or….go buy a some UV grow lamps for your “maters” and see if you front door is busted down by your local friendly law enforcement agency……………
They never busted my doors down… and I ate all the maters I could stand.
Right up there with “they want us to register our guns so they know where they are when the Army/UN troops comes to take them away and put us in FEMA death domes”
Rak – I might not laugh to hard at your first “urban myth” there my friend – damn tinfoil….
yeah,
Back when the FEMA camp BS was all the rage I offered some tinfoil hat fucker on this site to take him/her/it to the FEMA camp of their choice (all expenses paid on my dime) so I could see one for myself.
I never got a taker……………………..
Dumb rightwing nutted tinfoil hat wearing/conservative talk radio listening pukes that they are couldn’t come up with one stinking FEMA camp.
Those types don’t live in the real world and ain’t happy unless there is a threat under every rock or behind every tree…………
I’ve already predicted the Confederate Flag Bubble ;)
This is a repost from my Cousin Judge in Ft. Payne, Al — the Alabama Flag and Banner, Huntsville, Al —– (note: the only flags he flies are the US and the (cough-cough) University of Alabama. Sometime soon, before football season, I’m committed to visit and help him paint his 20′ flagpole in his driveway. The pole is too damn far away from his garage roof for me stand up there and paint — so you know what I have to do!

Hmmm….bad link? Or was that a joke that flew right over my head?
About five times recently I’ve had links not show, so I have to “edit” until it reposts. if it doesn’t work and you want to see it just let me know and I’ll tell you how to find it….
I had trouble posting earlier. I’m not getting the full link, so if/when you have time.
will do — interesting article
My cousin can get it for me…..
Someone has hijacked my FB Account, which I seldom use, but was all in Spanish. I reset the password and trying to delete it again. Took me 10 minutes to figure out how to log out.
Gee, all they wanted was those fire-hot pics of you — get a year’s subscription to “H Para Hombres” (Mexico) to see if any of your fotos appear!
I didn’t have a single photo posted – ha! I deleted that one years ago.
— just one?
That one account with YEARS of photos, my entire life history on it. I finally gave it up and wow did I feel liberated for a few years.
Ohmigosh – I just Googled that. I now understand the malware issue ;)
just messin’ with your head — I had to google to find (on Wiki) a Mexican girlie magazine — no offense meant to ya’, but it sounded so funny (haw – haw)
I know that. It was hilarious — I was just teasing right back atcha!
A writer from “Better Homes and Gardens” goes to a maximum security prison to interview Horace Schmeely, an inmate who is reported to be an amazing landscape gardener. As Horace shows the interviewer around the grounds, she is flabbergasted. Everything is immaculate. The flowers are beautiful, the grass is
perfectly manicured, and the trees are expertly pruned. And his running commentary on each shrub and bush is equally impressive. She can’t believe it. Here’s this guy in a maximum security prison, and he’s probably the most talented gardener and landscape designer she’s ever me, with an inexhaustible knowledge of every aspect of gardening.
At the end of the tour, she says to Horace, “I am enormously impressed with your work. Not only am I
going to write a feature article about you and your work, but I’m going to petition the Governor to have you released from here, so you can get a good job
on the outside. Your considerable talents shouldn’t go to waste.”
She turns and walks away. When she gets about twenty feet away from him, a huge brick hits her between her shoulder blades and Horace yells, “You won’t forget about me, will you?”
LOL – that one reminds me a little of Max ;)
There are no firm rules as to who is sane and who isn’t. The definition is made by the people with the key….
I have already made it through the Lee Atwater, Trust Me I’m Lying (confessions of a media manipulator) and now reading David Axelrod’s 40 years in politics. I concur — the definition of sanity is made by the people with the key.
Tonight I may be able to give you a good, related joke that will make you think about Max…..
Lighter conversation is a welcome breeze of fresh air. Dear gawd, I could not stay on this site without the sense of humor that comes with it. Thanks Henry!
A man who had been in a mental institution for some years finally seemed to have improved to the point where it was thought he might be released. The psychiatrist who headed the institution, with commendable caution, decided, however, to interview him first.
“Tell me,” said he, “if we release you, as we are considering doing, what do you intend to do with your life?”
The inmate said, “It would be wonderful to get back to real life and, if I do, I will certainly refrain from making my former mistake. I was a nuclear physicist, you know, and it was the stress of my work in weapons research that helped to put me here. If I am released I shall confine myself to work in pure theory, where I trust the situation will be less difficult and stressful.”
“Marvelous,” said the psychiatrist.
“Or else,” ruminated the inmate, “I might teach. There is
something to be said for spending one’s life in developing a new generation of scientists.”
“Absolutely,” said the psychiatrist.
“Then again, I might write. There is considerable need for
books on science for the general public. Or I might even write a novel based on my experiences in this fine
institution.”
“An interesting possibility,” said the psychiatrist.
“And finally, if none of these things appeals to me, I can always continue to be a coffee pot.”
I know about a few things that will never be published about Atwater. One of my former sweethearts worked in DC, and she told me about participating in some stuff with him. Work and life there was too fast-paced for her so she returned to SC.
Any info you want to share? I’m all ears, but understand if you do not. Life in politics is VERY fast paced. I never had a desire for politics, to be quite honest, I really don’t have the stomach for it. It isn’t a lack of research, which I love, it is a lack of integrity — which I detest. I understand sometimes it is a requirement, but one that doesn’t sit well with my heart.
I’ve lived in the south most of my life, some 30 years, but I don’t think I will ever get used to the “southern hospitality” which is a farce in my mind. Why not say what you mean and mean what you say? I know the answer — that doesn’t win in politics. People need a liar they can believe in, this is not party specific.
The people are the problem. Not the parties. Took me several years in state politics to realize that. By the time I did — hell I had a huge following. I didn’t and don’t, want to be a leader in politics. People are just looking for something to believe in. Someone.
There is much knowledge that for various reasons – promises,or tosaveomeone from being shamed or hurt, and any number of other reasons — that truly “must be taken to the grave”….
Sadly, I am too loyal to spiel some information I know or call out names. Save those who have screwed me and more specifically others over — that is fair game. I have spent years collecting information, but never used it. Have no intentions of using it. What was said in confidence, I am a bit too loyal — but those (bleep) who want to make it personal and lie. I refuse to sit idle. They were never friends from the start. Interesting, how those I least thought might be friends, are more like me.
I started state politics very green. I do mean very. Most have the upper hand, because I spewed my beliefs openly — it was there for the world to see. I had no idea who I was talking to. No idea their connection in politics. No real idea of what label I might be coined. I am not a political pundit, just one that knows some.
My posts have had some difficulty too. If you lived closer, I know who could fix your computer, but you are MANY hours away.
At one time a friend and I had reasons to “observe” a particular person associated with us. My friend named himself “WW” and I became “WWII” == that is, I was “Weasel Watcher Two” — if my friend reads this, we had fun didn’t we? The weasel knew what we were doing and it really needled him — we wrote down every time he left his office, for example, even to go take a piss. He finally left and went to DSS where a couple of years later I was the consultant he had to work with! You’ll guess it —- he weaseled out of working with me…!!!!!!
1) google: al.com huntsville
2) when it opens look on the right hand side of the page under the ads
3) the first article is “Most Read” — that’s it
1,000 flags sold the first day!
How’s that computer doing?
Is it ok, running a temperature, have the squits, throwing up or, did you just put a bullet between the floppies?
Thanks for askin’, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet — much going on all of a sudden that needs my attention. Speaking of “floppies”, I’ve put Adorabella aside temporarily….
What happened to Adorabella? She sounded adorable!
Put aside for now, there seems to be some missing gaps in her history up to the day she left Amarillo. Her behavior over the last few months causes me to be more curious. I’ll have to slip into my sly, investigative mode when I have time. She’s on hold, and I’m still the only dog in the pack.
Missing gaps sounds intriguing and dangerous. I’d be curious too, but exercising caution. Do keep us posted on status of your investigation Mr. Sly.
hooray! the white knights of Pelham NC will ride to the rescue of the flag on july 17! the confederacy is not lost!
Pelham, NC – Peckerwood heaven on Highway 29…
Next up in horrific, racially motivated “journalism”, a visit to Maurice’s Piggy Park.
Great example of “daddy was a little out there” come try us now. Maurice is dead and just about all of the “racist propaganda” is gone now. The flags have been down and the US/State flags were even at half staff last week.
What happened to the “Red Neck Shop” in Laurens? For several years that place had everyone in an up roar. I believe it was ran by the by the local Grand Wizard, Grand Cyclops, Exalted Armadillo, Superior Siren, King Zulu or whatever they call themselves when they are leader of the local Klan.
Probably moved to Abbeville where some of the cops are Klan.
Pastor David Kennedy (an African American Baptist minister) got the deed to the building and kicked John Howard (the owner of the Redneck Shop) out.
They sound like riff-raff. The few friends I ever had who were in the klan were upscale. Their chapter (Spring Valley) wouldn’t accept anyone with sheets having a thread count lower than 800.
Aww… Well appears she is a “Christian”… Carol is a member of the alto section in her church choir, where she enjoys singing Renaissance music
And it appears you have too much time on your hands.
Sic, you do know that Carol and him are divorced, right? Or did you not do your research.
oh my!!!
She should and she will win. She is not a public official so Will does not get the same protections. Get the attorneys on the phone.
It won’t take long.
That seems to be one of the best kept secrets. No mention of divorce anywhere and 2009 they published this article: http://www.timesexaminer.com/community/115-carol-goldsmith-discussed-career-in-television
Here biography on other sites now read that she has two grown children, but no mention of a husband.
Hope she sues you!
Pulled a ‘Boz ‘ on Carol and now you are fucked! Libeled her. LMAO!!!!
Half-ass Nancy Drew is the best compliment you’re going to get all day. You’re welcome. Why don’t you call News 4 personally and ask?
It looks like the flag controversy has been good for the economy.
Great place to get some redneck ass.Give them a six pack, and have the best gay sex ever. They’re hot and easy.
It’s been a bittersweet week for gay Confederates…
You try to make the most of it…

You’d obviously know, since you’ve taken 9 inches and surely not given it.
Hate groups are targeting an ice cream shop in Orangeburg because there is a Confederate flag nearby. You will have blood on your hands if you keep this campaign up. Not that you care, as long as you lead the attack on those you hate. But don’t whine about civility after you get people hurt.
Ya know what I find ironic…..? Considering that this business owner has had to shut down his internet site and seems to be concerned about filling orders for flags, one has to snicker at all those textile mills that have gone out of business and moved over seas. Talk about a spike in 3rd shift production that could have occurred. Fine textile jobs for flag fabric and local tax revenue generation. I wonder just how much fossil OIL will be burned in shipping container traffic to meet the demand so far…? Come to think of it…..we wonder just how much ad revenue Mr Folks could squeeze..?
As for me….I have another flag in mind for production…….
Carol Goldsmith? Isn’t she the broad at WYFF who’s asymmetrical to a fire hydrant? Still buys her clothes at Greenville Tent & Awning. Should have been gone long ago.
Was it a Confederate or simply a redneck store that was on 321 not far from Fish Hatchery Road and I-26 outside Columbia?
I’ve seen a number of pickups around Pickens County the last couple weeks flying their full-sized Confederate banners ostentatiously. I have passed by the redneck retailer mentioned in this article many times. There appears to be a lot of Confederate sentiment in the upper regions of the Upstate counties. Funny though — during the Civil War these same areas were outposts of Unionism. Check out A. V. Huff’s history of Greenville or Scott Poole’s “Never Surrender.”
You may want to check your facts. Scott Goldsmith and Carol Goldsmith have been divorced for a number of years. Much of what you write here is likely the reasons why the marriage failed.
You may want to check your facts. Scott Goldsmith and Carol Goldsmith have been divorced for a number of years. I would suggest that much of what you write here are reasons for the failed marriage.
Is he the husband of the NBC-affiliate anchor in Greenville, Carol Goldsmith? This would be WYFF.
