For the importation of vastly more, and even cheaper foreign goods.

This perfectly complements the Trans Pacific Partnership, especially when the Panama Canal gets widened and deepened.

They use all those BMWs to build a fishing reef.

Well, it is both the import business and the export business that creates wealth.

Besides, SC could turn the operations over to the Saudi’s so the sex slave trade and the hot luxury car trade could continue. Sending all of those empty containers home is a shame when it costs an extra ten grand or so each to fly the girls and boys over to Dubai … And They can’t even get one hot Lincoln Towncar into private jet.

No! Let’s pay more for expensive domestic goods and take employees off jobs making BMW’s so they can stitch elastic on to underwear or glue heels on shoes.

“This website supports the deepening project – although we would continue to encourage Haley, state lawmakers and ports authority officials to more aggressively push for private investment in our port infrastructure.”

It’s interesting because would we need the deeper port if we didn’t have government money convincing manufacturers to come here in the first place?

Do we really need the government to tell us how deep water should be?

Tyranny!!! Wait. Free markets!!! Wait. Not a core government function!!! Wait. Too much regulation!!! Wait. Why should the hard-working taxpayers of this poor state fund the needs of private industry? Wait. This is a job killer. Wait. This is a budget buster!!!! Wait. Wait. Wait.

“This website supports the deepening project”

What happened to supporting the Jasper County port over spending taxpayer money on a state-run port?

The next generation of freighters is using a technology called forced air lubrication making them much more fuel efficient, the larger the ship the better it works, deepen the port or all we are going to see in the harbor is the red neck yacht club.
