NINE MURDER RAPS, GUN CHARGE … CAPITAL PUNISHMENT URGED
|| By FITSNEWS || Dylann Storm Roof will face nine murder charges and a firearm charge in connection with the “Holy City Massacre,” the deadliest mass murder on U.S. soil in nearly two years.
Other charges could be forthcoming …
Roof, 21, is accused of entering the historic Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston, S.C. on Wednesday evening at around 8:00 p.m. EDT and asking for the church’s pastor – S.C. Senator Clementa Pinckney. After sitting next to Pinckney at a Bible study/ prayer meeting for approximately an hour, Roof opened fire on the parishioners – killing nine of them (including Pinckney).
Bible study members Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd, 54, Susie Jackson, 87, Depayne Middleton, 49, Myra Thompson, 59 and Tywanza Sanders, 26, died in the attack. So did church reverends Daniel Simmons, 74, and Sharonda Singleton, 45, and the church’s sexton Ethel Lee Lance, 70.
Roof eluded capture for several hours after the attack until being apprehended by police in Shelby, N.C.
Roof has reportedly confessed to the crime and agreed to be extradited to South Carolina to face charges. Chillingly, he told police he “almost didn’t go through with it because everyone was so nice to him.”
Still, he claimed he “had go through with his mission.”
And what was that mission? According to police, Roof’s intention was to set off a race war in the United States.
“You’re raping our women and taking over the country. You have to go,” he reportedly told his victims as he reloaded his weapon during the attack.
Speaking of Roof’s gun, Reuters reported hours after the attack that a .45 caliber handgun – since identified as the weapon used to commit the slayings – had been given to him as a birthday present by his father. That information is apparently inaccurate. Roof’s father – and friends – say he purchased the gun using money given to him for his birthday.
In fact Roof’s father has communicated as much to police.
“He has told law enforcement that he did not purchase Dylann a gun,” a source close to the family told FITS.
Anti-Second Amendment advocates – including U.S. president Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton – wasted no time in using the shooting as a pretext for limiting the right to keep and bear arms. We do not subscribe to their point of view. Nor do crime statistics.
Meanwhile, the presence of Confederate flags on the license plate of the vehicle Roof used to make his getaway has prompted a debate over whether this controversial banner should continue to fly from the grounds of the S.C. State House. We believe it should not.
Finally, S.C. governor Nikki Haley has recommended Roof face the death penalty for his actions.
“We will absolutely want him to have the death penalty,” Haley told reporters.
We agree. In fact we would argue South Carolina should pass legislation permitting Utah’s preferred method of execution for this and other especially heinous cases.

Yeah….no mental illness there. Clearly racism caused his attack.
Racism is a form of mental illness.
Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t.
I know that if I’m walking on any MLK boulevard and I see a group of black youths with their pants down below their waists and it’s 2am, I’m going to cross the street and avoid them.
I’m quite sure that makes me a racist(but not a hater).
I’m also quite sure I’m not mentally ill.
I’m sure you wouldn’t walk around a seedy trailer park in Gaston at 2 AM either while meth heads were outside either. But you aren’t making a reference to areas rife with poverty, drug use, or other criminal activity in general, you are making a reference to blacks. That’s what makes you a racist.
A guy walks into a church and guns 9 people down, only a racist feels like reminding us there are black criminals in shitty neighborhoods as a way of defending racism.
“I’m sure you wouldn’t walk around a seedy trailer park in Gaston at 2 AM either while meth heads were outside either.”
That’s true. So let me narrow the focus as you’ve brought up a reasonable objection:
If I’m strolling down 5 points and see a group of blanks youths with their pants down around their waist I’m still crossing the street to avoid them.
If it’s a group of white youths with their pants down around their waists, I’m not.
Now, there are very good statistical reasons I’ll behave in that racist way- and it has nothing to do with whether the black or white kids really are criminals or not, nor the area that I’m in.
I love the reactions on this site and others by racists. Normal people basically say things along the lines of how horrible this is, how the victims have their prayers, discussing what can be done to prevent things like this, asking if the guy has been caught, and other things of that nature. Racists come on and remind us of how prevalent crime is in the black community, or how they wouldn’t want to be on MLK street at midnight, or how some black churches preach hate, or how the guy had a few black friends so he can’t be racist. It’s like the racists come out to defend their own kind. It wasn’t long ago in our history where the racists were doing things similar to what Dylann did in droves, although usually they had hoods over their faces. The anonymity of the internet has removed the need for hoods, I am sure you are glad of that. If you could be so kind as to add me to the list of people you would cross the street to avoid I would appreciate it.
Race aside, I do really think the crime is horrible.
I don’t hate blacks, I just recognize difference based on race. (and so do most of them)
Your statistics were of no use to the black Christians who welcomed a white boy into their church.
Doesn’t change the statistics.
If you want to live your life bucking probability all day long, feel free.
Follow your statistics and blacks, women and many others would never have gotten opportunities to prove themselves and we all would have suffered from the utilized potential.
Not true. If people are suffering from un-utilized potential they’ll account for that statistically.
What would be your solution if your worldview was correct? (and it’s not)
Is it to force people to do what you think is right?
You should do what is right without compulsion. Don’t always think statistically what us in my own interest. Think about others, not just yourself. A lot of people have taken statistical risks for the benefit of others and are happier as a result. Others fail but never regret the effort.
The issue at hand is not whether you should or should not take statistical risk, the issue is whether you should be allowed to do so “without compulsion”.
In that regard, you are correct. So simply get off people’s back on how or why they might or might not take their risks.
As long as they are hurting anyone(like forced compulsion) it doesn’t matter whether you agree with the way they take their risks, live their lives, etc.
Like I said, if you don’t mind wind by a group of black youths wearing their pants below their waist late a night, then go ahead and do it. I’ll do it my way.
I’m happy with my life, make yourself happy with yours.
*walking
I’m sure you walk around with a head full of statistics at the ready, to guide your every action.
Don’t be a hater Boz, it’s not PC and it could be crime.
Exactly.
Affirmation from the man that hates statistics. Glad it’s not me.
Now I know why liberals go crazy when republicans tell them they don’t believe in global warming.
This guy is nuttier than squirrel crap but his dad helped arm him after he already displayed pretty messed up signs, Dylann should not be the only one on trial.
I guess you missed the part about how his Dad didn’t buy the gun? Should the shop that sold him the gun be prosecuted too?
This guy is responsible for his own actions. Period.
Actually Colonel made the point elsewhere that Dylann was facing a felony charge and should not have been sold the gun, so the gun store may very well face issues. Else the state’s database is the cause in which case the state will have some issues.
Maybe racism is a form of mental illness. Not an excuse for his actions, but hating people purely on the basis of race is quite insane. Acting on it is a criminally insane act. However, the law needs to completely disregard the “insane” part, in a case like this. Throw the book at him. Hell, throw the whole law library at him.
I don’t like redefining evil as insanity. Insanity exist, but so does evil. Not all insane people are evil, nor or all evil people insane. Most insane people are still responsible for their behavior. You know this because of their ability to function in other areas of life and their ability to plan their crimes. If he went their with the intention ti kill and it wasn’t an impulsive act then he is responsible. He went there with a gun. He hates blacks, yet he chose to go there. He engaged in rational behavior in the hour before the attack.
Maybe he had mental illness, maybe a drug problem, maybe he was just a dumb, unintelligent 10th grade drop out. Any of those would simply be comorbid conditions to his real problem which is being possessed with pure Evil.
He’ll walk on that one as will the gun store, “…state database…incomplete information…inadequate time for database update…”
Almost didn’t go through with it because they were so nice to him? Christ. If they’d have just given him some ice cream and a piece of pie maybe he’d have just shot them in the legs. Can’t imagine what he’d have done if the coffee had been stale. Maybe machete?
TBG’S anti death penalty argument:
If Pee Wee Gaskins were alive, he could make Dylan Roof a “jailhouse radio” so they could talk to each other…
So you have read his book too! Pee Wee’s error was forgetting that the Death Penalty had been reinstated.
lol…”two birds with one stone”…must have been ordained.
:)
heh! heh!
I knew the Moons and Tony Cimo, son-in-law of Mr. Moon. In the last years of his life I got to know Solicitor Jim Dunn (who looked nothing like Joseph Conrad). And in the last few years of *his* life, I corresponded with and got to know my cousin Jack Martin who helped PeeWee with smuggled-in dynamite to do the deed that finally got him the death sentence.
All of these people, save PeeWee, were the salt of the earth. Jack is something of a folk hero around here. Rudolph Tyner needed killin’, is the way the thinking goes.
I’m conflicted on the death penalty, myself. But I would like to see Dylann dead, and suffering much in his dying.
— thanks for this story

I don’t mind people being killed for horrific crimes – just not by the state. The state is totally incompetent in these matters.
I trust euwe.
The deed should be accomplished by civilian volunteers that make up a firing squad. Minimum of twelve members to each execution squad, with half aiming at the heart and the other half aiming for the head. The results would be quick and there would be no shortage of volunteers.
I wasn’t talking about the killing itself – it’s determining *who*
I won’t speak to the kids messed up ideas About black vs white race wars. That is never gonna happen. I’m a whitey and work and live near some wonderful African Anericans. Mr Roof is obviously mentally impaired.
I will say
If you get shot dead worshiping your Lord in your church
You automatically sit at the right hand of Jesus christ. There is no doubt
I don’t feel any better about the deaths of innocents. But I gotta hold on to the fact that this lyft is Not all there is
How in the hell can that alcoholic SC Supreme Ct Chief Justice Jean Toal already be dictating how this case will be handled when the circuit court has not even retained jurisdiction?? Is she just trying to draw attention to herself before the world????? Some one pleaseeeee explain this one.
1. What are you talking about?
2. What are you Jean Toal obsessives going to do when she retires in a matter of weeks?
3. What needs to worry you is that Nikki, of the imperial ‘we’, seems to think she can direct a solicitor to go for the death penalty…of course, the corrupt Scarlett Wilson is a Republican and she and Trikki may be discussing the case in secret.
As for numbers 1 & 3, no ideas, as for number 2, celebrate.
The KKK were not racist for burning down black churches, burning crosses in black neighborhoods, and lynching black men, they were just a tad mentally ill!
Boy, good thing we didn’t follow Ron Paul’s “it’s too expensive to put people to death” mantra or we’d miss out on putting this guy to death.
I don’t know if the death penalty is necessary, even in this case. We can lock him up at BRCI or give him to the feds and send him to ADX in Florence, CO.
Let’s put a cage out on the battery to keep him in until he’s hung.
Let’s not and say we did.
The irony of a lawyer that complained that his nulla bona’s were worthless having faith in a similar system to judge when someone should die or not is not lost on me.
Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?
High him at high noon or have a firing squad. Only 1 appeal . Lawyers don’t need to get rich off of this horrific event. There needs to swift closure for the families.
