PASTOR GUNNED DOWN IN HIS OWN CHURCH
|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. Senator Clementa Pinckney – pastor of the Mother Emanuel AME Church – was one of at least nine people killed in Wednesday night’s mass shooting in downtown Charleston, S.C.
He was 41 years old – and is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and two children, Eliana and Malana. Pinckney’s sister was also among those killed during the attack, multiple sources have confirmed to FITS.
This website was a vocal critic of Pinckney’s (and he wasn’t exactly enamored with us), but it goes without saying our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends – and the families and friends of all of those who were senselessly slaughtered at his church.
These people gathered in peace to exercise their freedom of religion … only to be mowed down like grass.
First elected to the S.C. House of Representatives in 1997 (at the age of 23), Pinckney has served in the State Senate since 2001. Ironically, he was among those who organized rallies in the aftermath of an April shooting of a black man by a white police officer in North Charleston, S.C.

My heart aches for the Pinckney family and the other families, the congregation, Charleston and South Carolina. This is a horrible and senseless tragedy.

fuck off you cunt
Yeah, But, did you flag it?
I can be very critical of politicians but this is sad. No excuse for this kind of senseless death.
They are already calling it a hate crime. But then that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it.
I don’t understand “hate crime” you don’t beat or murder people that you love.
Well, first of all, there are countless beatings and murders of loved ones. Might even be the most common type of violent crime, I don’t know, but certainly there are plenty. I believe a hate crime is committed against a person because of their having a race or religion or sexual orientation or gender that you hate. Something like that anyway.
Oh, I get the legal definition, I just think it’s superfluous. If you beat or murder someone you don’t or didn’t truly love them. Whatever happened at the church in Charleston is cold blooded murder, nothing more and nothing less.
Nothing more? It’s virtually always something more, EDF. Things are rarely so cut and dried. Perhaps we’ll know more about the killer’s motive as the facts unfold.
Political assassination with collateral damage, may be another way of saying it. But “hate crimes” are real, according to US law. Anyone who doesn’t like that can try to change it. Bitching about it does nothing.
“But “hate crimes” are real, according to US law. ”
I agree, Buz – but I would take it a step further and say that hate crimes are real, period.
What is there not to understand?
I’ve never liked the idea of separately codifying murder and hate. Not only does it seem redundant, if we take the “hate” portion of “crime” and extend it out logically, we now are potentially able to prosecution people for what they are thinking.
Let me say that if government had some way to actually probe & secure everyone’s inner thoughts, there would be very few people that would not be guilty of a “hate crime”, the only difference would be that most have never acted on their hate to commit an actual crime. (assault, murder, etc.)
Nobody gets arrested for thinking hatefully, only for acting based on that hate.
Let’s wait and see – there is a story and a person. As soon as it becomes clear what background and motives are involved the usual equivocating will begin.
god bless to the fallen, you are in my prayers forever
This is more than a hate crime people, this was an assassination. This event was politically motivated. The pastor of Mother Emanuel AME Church is for one a United States Senator. He was also one on of the organizers for the Methodist Coalition Prayer Meeting 2 weeks prior, and he also presided over this event.
This was not some random incident people this was planned. Mother Emanuel is located in historic downtown Charleston on Calhoun St. near the Charleston County School District. The assailant’s primary target was Rev. Clementa Pickney, who is a high profile target. The other victims unfortunately were secondary targets or targets of opportunity.
The assailant wore a grey hooded sweatshirt, bluejeans, and timberland boots. I am sorry but to me, this leads me to believe that this person. Wants others to believe that the suspect is black when witnesses described him as being caucasian or white.
This individual had to get close to the victims to have gotten so many of them. My spider sense is telling me this is more that just a hate crime .
You may well be correct, TT, but for the record Clementa Pinckney was a S.C. State Senator, not a U.S. Senator.
You are correct I stand mistaken Droopster thank you.
I wondered about this being more than meets the eye, too. On the surface, it is very easy to believe this is a hate crime against Blacks, which it might well be. It could also be a crime against Christians. Perhaps some idiot or faction trying to stir racial discord. Whatever the case, I don’t feel anyone is totally safe in church until they have this POS (preferably on a slab). This is particularly true of Black churches. Heck, for all we know, the victims in that church may have just been convenient “soft” targets of opportunity for a psyco and his next stop might be a mall or large store. I hope when I wake up, I read that he is out of circulation.
I don’t think there’s much risk that a guy that killed 6 women and 3 men in a black church after telling them they were taking over the country will shoot people in a mall. He might hit white people.
Or he might an atheist.
Someone who guns down 9 people in cold blood isn’t Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Atheist, Hindu, or anything else. Someone who guns down 9 people is simply a crazy nutjob that needs to be put down.
State Senator Pinckney was an outspoken proponent of body cameras for all police officers after the recent incident where the white officer gunned down the fleeing and unarmed black suspect. Sounds like hate crime to me – but I’ll hold off judgment till the shooter is captured – from the news conference it sounds like they know who he is . . .
It is being defined as a hate crime because it was in a church NOT because the killer is white and the victims are black.
LOL Yeah you and Fox News trying to paint it that way as an “attack on faith” – so how did that turn out for you?
The problem is that it will be much more likely that the cops will kill him when they find him rather than try to capture him for trial.
“The assailant wore a grey hooded sweatshirt, bluejeans, and timberland boots. I am sorry but to me, this leads me to believe that this person.”
I liked your post but unclear what grey sweatshirt and bluejeans and timberland boots have to do with black folks – just asking as I do not make that connection – thanks.
Haven’t you heard, blue jeans are the new droopy pants in the hood. Anyone who wears blue jeans and isn’t black is just acting black.
I stopped reading the stupidity after “United States Senator”.
State Senator…not US Senator.
Black lives matter – brothers need to arm and protect themselves!
That’s why Lamar raps about King Kutta…
I second that, if meant with sincerity and good intent!
There is no doubt that blacks should be “pro gun rights” more so than any other community.
So they aren’t armed already?
They are and they are coming after you! LOL
If they shoot anything like I see on television I should be okay. It’s all about how they look pulling the trigger rather than proper technique.
My sympathy and condolences go out to the Pinckney family and to all familys of the victims of this atrocity.
CiC – I am so happy to see you back! Missed you!
Hi Blues, Taz, He’s Alive, and everyone else. I’ve been around and lurking in the shadows for a while. Computer died in November and I’ve been caring for loved ones who have either passed or are expected to before very long. :-(.
I hate typing on these smartphone keyboards. It is painful at best. You guys take care and hang in there.
You are sorely missed – so sorry to hear of your loved ones – you hang in there too my friend! We disagree often on here but you are on of my all-time favorite posters to this forum!
Thank You, SC Blues! I’m around a good bit, even when you don’t see me on here.
“Sparklecity” sends greetings and a hearty welcome back.
Taking care of loved ones is a job for angels like yourself!!!
Sometimes we don’t agree but now ain’t the time for it!!!
Thank You too, sparklecity. I appreciate the kind words.
CiC? Is that really you?
Good to see you sir, hope all is well.
Was Pinckney the intended target? This had to be a planned attack.
This kind of act is intolerable and must be repudiated by all. This fiend must be found and made example of for anyone else who would even consider such a thing.
We don’t need to spend a lot of time examining this event. If we know who did it, it requires quick justice. It doesn’t matter if the governor’s son did it. Wrong is wrong. Then we need to move on to the next fire and put it out in similar fashion. I see anarchy in our future otherwise.
Aweful! Tragick!
Now that we now that this terrorist is from the most extreme of extreme right wing counties in the state, the home county and base of Rep. Joe “You Lie!” Wilson, and someone who would likely have never have come across a black state senator from across the state, do we think it’s possible he became familiar with Sen. Pinckney via this blog and its racial attacks on him?
How can a preacher be a state senator? I mean there’s that whole separation of church and state thing going on.
Sure is funny how people are slammed while they are alive and doing stuff but when they die in a senseless god-awful tragedy like this all that stuff about how politically wrong they were goes out the window.
But how many times have we seen FITS post he don’t care what kind of person they are the only thing that matters is how they vote (usually in favor to a position or attitude FITS espouses)
Perhaps we should take pause in our attitudes towards those we oppose on political grounds
