WHO WILL STAND AGAINST CRONY CAPITALIST TRADE DEAL?
|| By FITSNEWS || This week marks the moment of truth for U.S. president Barack Obama‘s crony capitalist trade push – “Obamatrade.”
Over the last six months, this website has written exhaustively on this issue – debunking the idea that Obama’s secretive Pacific Rim pact is “free trade.” It isn’t. We’ve also written extensively on how the deal is bad for the national economy and for the economy here in South Carolina.
The bottom line on this deal is simple: Any lawmaker who votes to advance this dangerous deal is selling out American workers and consumers to benefit wealthy Wall Streeters and Hollywood liberals. They’re also participating in a fundamental usurpation of democracy – with all sorts of pernicious consequences to follow.
This week, Obamatrade nearly died on a procedural vote when thirty-four GOP lawmakers sided with overwhelming majority of Democrats (yes, Obama’s own party is opposing him on this deal) – and rebuked their liberal leader, “Republican” John Boehner.
“Americans should be proud that thirty-four Republicans put their country before their political party,” said Rick Manning of Americans for Limited Government (ALG), the group which has been leading the fight against this monstrosity.
Manning added Obamatrade would have been killed outright “if Boehner had not succeeded in lobbying eight Democrats to pull his bacon out of the fire.”
For those of you keeping score in the Palmetto State, standing against Obamatrade on the procedural vote were U.S. Reps. Jeff Duncan and Mick Mulvaney. Supporting it were U.S. Reps. Tom Rice, Mark Sanford and Joe Wilson.
Trey Gowdy was listed as “not voting.”
So … what happens next? Well, the procedural hurdle was clearer by an incredibly narrow margin – 217-212. That means the fight over Obamatrade now moves toward approval of a “trade adjustment assistance” (TAA) provision favored by Democrats.
The TAA is a tax hike – pure and simple. It’s a bailout for Big Labor. Basically, it would create a costly new government program aimed at helping American workers who lose their jobs as a result of Obamatrade’s passage (which if you think about it ought to tell you everything you need to know about this deal).
That’s right: The only way Obama can pass his trade deal is if Congress supports a tax hike to pay for all the jobs it would cost the country.
And this is what “conservative” U.S. Reps. Rice, Sanford and Wilson voted to move forward this week …
Anyway, if the vote on TAA fails then Obamatrade is likely dead in the water (which is why we are calling on every member of South Carolina’s congressional delegation to oppose this tax hike).
If that vote succeeds, however, lawmakers would vote on the first critical step in Obamatrade’s passage – so-called “trade promotion authority” (a.k.a. TPA, or “fast track”). Passage of this measure would enable Obama to continue negotiating the trade deal in secret – forbidding Congress from debating it, amending it or overseeing it once it’s been approved.
This vote is where the rubber will meet the road on Obamatrade – and where South Carolina’s “conservative” lawmakers will either stand for you or stand for Washington.
Because there will be no TPA vote without the approval of TAA, it means GOP lawmakers “will have to vote for a union bailout that increases taxes to pay for it, in order to vote on fast-tracking treaties for a president they neither like nor trust,” according to Manning.
“A pretty ugly scenario,” he said.
Indeed. Any “Republican” who votes for a measure like that should lose their job.

TPA/TPP is NOT about trade. Take the time to read what Julian Assange has leaked, read Senator Sessions “Critical Alerts” & all will see that this deal has created economic nationalism and surrendered U.S. sovereignty.
The sovereignty over what you buy and sell belongs not to the US government, but to the individual. Just like the government does not have sovereignty over free speech, it should not have sovereignty over what you buy and sell.
But the limitations on what you can buy and sell are directly related to ‘trade deals’ like this one.
Yes, but the new deals reduce current restrictions. It’s not free trade, but it is freer trade. That may be the best that the current Congress can achieve. With a Republican congress and a supportive Democratic President, this might be the best opportunity to pass freer trade pacts in a long time.

The US is 4.43% of the world’s population and it’s proportion is declining. America will continue to grow, but undeveloped countries will be able to maintain a higher growth rates. If you google “center of world population, you will find that Asia is the center and South America is furthest from it and North America is next. The average American lives 10,000 miles mean distance from the world’s population. Chinese citizens live only 5,000 miles mean distance from the world’s population. We live geographically in the boondocks. BMW Spartanburg is the only plant in the world that builds those vehicle models. 70% of it’s production is exported outside North America. That is globalism. There will never be any high tech or high capital factories built in the USA unless over 50% of its production is exported outside North America. Eight of the last ten North American auto assembly plants announced since the beginning of the Twentieth century are to be built in Mexico. Mexico has no tariffs against its import to the US or the European Union. EU tariffs on US autos are 10%. Yes, maybe some current jobs will be protected temporarily if the trade deals are regected, but future investment in new industry will decline. While the rest of the world builds factories that can complete all over the world, we will be protecting weak, ageing plants that can barely profit from the limited North American market.
If you want to sell an auto in the EU, Then the EU exercises sovereignty over us with a 10% tax on the transaction. If our government wants to make an agreement with other countries to eliminate those tariffs, it’sour sovereign right to do so. And it maintains sovereignty, because at any future date it can end that agreement or renegotiate it. There are mechanisms to settle disputes, but the government can withdraw whenever it chooses. The United Kingdom is going to vote on whether to leave the European Union. That is both an economic and political union. TPP is only a trade agreement. TPP abrogates current restrictions on our trade that were unilaterally imposed on us by foreign governments without our agreement. TPP create a mutually agreed trade policy. It protects American trademarks, copyrights and patents in foreign countries. It also protects foreign investments.

TPP and TIPP will not be available to read until 60 days before the votes. I am familiar with current trade laws. Most of our clothing is imported yet we pay a +50% tariff. BMW vehicles from Spartanburg are charged a 10% tariff by the EU. These models are not built anywhere else in the world.

As I’m skimming I’m seeing that “free trade” includes agreements on subsidies, anti-dumping, & core labor standards that includes forbidding child labor. I wonder how kids working in sweat shops to feed themselves over in India feel about that?

India is not currently in TPP, but Burma and Vietnam are. I believe the trade deal regulations only effect exports. So, unfortunately child labor will continue for domestic goods.

It’s hard to get trade and tarriff data, but the US only collects about $30 billion in tariffs. That is only 1% of total federal revenue. Over 50% of the collections are for clothing. Another large portion is for table ware. There are some retaliatory tarriffs that effectively prevent the import of some goods.

It is obvious that those in a position to give are better off. What is not as apparent is the nearsightedness if selfishness. The widow’s mite is rewarded in the afterlife. In representative democracy, the majority can compel the minority. That’s ok if the rights of the minority are protected. It may be a beneficial policy. But don’t call it Biblical giving. There are no blessing for the giver or the recipient. Too often it encourages resentment, entitlement and dependency. Entitlement may not seem so bad, but if it is unfounded and unearned, it erodes a person’s character.

The will of the majority represents the nation under God. If the people of the nation choose to implement laws that pool some of its resources in order to provide as Jesus intended – being generous towards its lowest members, and providing as he has provided, then they shall be blessed with bounty – we will be known as a Christian nation now, and the legacy of our work will be something that will not rot, and cannot be destroyed.

What this is about is a vote to provide the Executive branch with authority to fast track trade agreements in negotiations and submit them to the House and Senate. The funny part about “Haley’s breach” is that no one seems to notice how that just went away – no claims, no big reports of the data being used, no follow-on damage or banks replacing cards. The MSM and their easily duped readers just couldn’t couldn’t connect those dots and figure out / deduce that the SC breach was handled, and pretty creatively handled at that. This follows true to form for Obama’s policy of enacting legislation that is not for the best interest of this country as far as the general overall economy is concerned. It seems he wishes to punish and restrict the influence of the US on the world stage. The basis of the darksucker theory is that electric
light bulbs suck dark. Take for example, the darksuckers in the room where you are right now. There is much less dark right next to the darksuckers than there is elsewhere, demonstrating their limited range. The larger the darksucker, the greater its capacity to suck dark. Darksuckers in a parking lot or on a football field have a much greater capacity than the ones in used in the home, for example.

engineers are practical, if nothing else…. however, the problem with some engineers is that when they run into a tangential problem in the course of implementing a solution to another problem, they tend to obsess over the new wrinkle to the exclusion of all else until they miss the deadline.

LOL – many engineers are too pedantic. They start a project with best of intentions, but soon come to own it, get personally vested and the next thing you know something simple has morphed into their project, that must be perfect and does things beyond the scope of work. Great product, just a little expensive in some cases and you can’t rush a perfect piece of art. ;)

I’m pretty sure the Mormon religion has something similar to your biblical quote. While I don’t claim expertise, based on my limited knowledge of the Mormon Religion. It seems they believe they are, or will be gods. More power to them. If they act like Romney has acted in his contributions to the cause – well heck, he believes in giving a LOT. I also like the way he campaigns, nothing dirty.
Having said that, he is unelectable because he won’t play dirty and the religion factor.

The idea of a god is not confined to wacko religions… the idea is very simple – if you nurture a life, feed it, comfort it, sacrifice for it, derive joy from it… you have expressed the highest ambitions of life itself and transcended the simple process of locomotion and acquisition…. you have become a god.
…and.. if you should possess that rarest of elements in the known universe – inspiration – and have the opportunity to create something – something that reduces the burdens of life – something that embodies usefulness – that furthers the goals of life… entertainment, happiness – joy – the capacity for growth. An independent, functioning object whose persistence may greatly outlive the author, and whose value eclipses the transient and superficial reproductive wriggling of cilia in the void.
Within the craft, secreted away in the smoothness of a surface there, the subtle shade of color here… a subtle confluence of personal choices… emphasis… something unique adheres to it – and as a frame in a great film captures a moment in the life of the actor, creation of a useful object sends a part of ourselves into the future, to join with the creations of others to bring more power and glory to life, and its greater purposes.
I am glad you added the postscript, because none of that made sense before your latter comment. In all honesty – I can break it down into layman terms, but no idea the original intent. Seems the Wicked overtook a system. I am sure that is a metaphor – perhaps symbol of our system?
It sounds a bit Randish, but with a tweak. I don’t know the philosopher you are talking about or have adapted, but like any work of art – open to interpretation.
To me this means, we all work on something (an engineer), some of us find the answers to society (bang), but become afraid and abandon ship. Giving the dark side leverage.

Did you write this? I can’t find a single reference to anything written above outside your forum. It is dark, but wow – if you wrote this, I am impressed.
As you imply, I often integrate the work of others into points I want to make, editing the original if it suits me, to better illustrate an idea.
I’m not publishing a doctorate essay, claiming it to be an original idea, or being paid to write completely original articles for a newspaper.
I don’t give a flying fuck if some dead guy put the words together close enough to use as an illustration I want to make gets upset that I didn’t give him credit for it.
No one owns an idea, or a perspective.
But to answer your question, there is nothing derivative in that post beyond the familiarity we all have with the meaning of the individual in relation to life.
It is my original work.
Now, since we are on the subject – I use words. I didn’t create the English language, or participate in the refinement of correct syntax, definitions, punctuation or contemporary style.
I’m not the original author of ellipses and hyphens in the writing style of the stream of consciousness, or the use of wry humor as a coda in conclusion.
I also liberally use the words “meaning,” “time,” “life,” “love,” “noble,” “God,” and “Republican,” though those words could be said not to have real definition, and are constantly undergoing revision in literature, and mean different things in different contexts.
The ideas that I write about are hardly unique. They are as common in literature as yellow journalism on Faux news.
The only reason I try to convey ideas, many of which may predate language itself, is I feel compelled to.
Wow – seems my compliment pissed you off. I genuinely thought it was an interesting piece and wondered if it was your “original work.” I like your creative writing style.

I used to try to put :) everywhere to help keep the reader from falling into the idea I’m more “dark” than my intent.
Don’t mistake my disgust for Republicans as an expression of an angry white man trying to enlist haters into ethnic or philosophical cleansing. :)
When I’m pissed off at someone, which is *very* rare, I keep it to myself. If I find someone offensive, I might say “fuck you” or psychoanalyze their post.
People who are trying to be offensive are simply used as a foil for ideas. People sometimes misinterpret ideas that are counter to what they believe as a personal attack. I can’t help that.
And of course, there are occasional casualties of “friendly fire,’ but long-term, these heal, and are expected.

Our over exposure to Bruce Jenner’s trans gender conversion to Caitlyn has conditioned us to display a more muted response to the revelation that the chapter president of the Spokane NACCP, Rachel Dolezal, has transitioned to be black. Of course, for those of us who are regular visitors of Fitsnews, this type transition is something we’ve witnessed before in the “founding editor”.
