CLAIM MOCKED BY REAL VETERANS …
|| By FITSNEWS || Of all people, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham should know better than to exaggerate his military service. After all, he’s been busted once before doing just that …
But Graham – who kicked off his presidential campaign this week – couldn’t help himself.
In an email accompanying his formal presidential announcement in Central, S.C., Graham referred to having “served in Afghanistan.”
First of all – just so there’s absolutely no confusion as to what Graham said – here’s the context of the comment within his “I’m Running for President” email, sent to supporters this week:
I’ve visited and served in Afghanistan and the Middle East more than 20 times gaining first-hand knowledge about terror groups that threaten our way of life.
“Visited and served.” Hmmm …
Here’s the thing about Graham’s remark. Yes, in 2008 he was deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan – where he stayed for five days. And in 2007 he did a pair of brief stints in Iraq. In each case, Graham was in decidedly non-combat situations “under heavy protection,” according to our military services – guarded “better than (a) general.”
What was he doing?
In Afghanistan, he reportedly trained military judges and attorneys. In Iraq, he is said to have worked on detainee and rule-of-law issues.
Of course in a 2007 interview with The Washington Post, Graham offered an interesting characterization of his environment.
“It’s a dangerous place,” Graham said. “I carried a 9mm like everyone else, and there were several times I was glad I had one.”
FITS spoke with several War on Terror veterans who took a dim view of Graham’s “soldiering.”
“It was a political stunt, nothing like my deployment,” said Jonathan Lubecky, a former Marine and retired U.S. Army sergeant who did a fourteen-month tour of duty in Iraq.
Several other War on Terror veterans we spoke with shared Lubecky’s sentiments – but declined to go on the record for fear of reprisal. One did put the difference between Graham’s deployments and “real tours” pretty bluntly, though.
“There’s a difference between being a soldier and playing soldier,” one Afghan veteran told us. “I’m guessing he wouldn’t know the difference.”
Wow …
We’re not questioning Graham’s right to say he “served” in these conflicts. He can say that without fear of contradiction. We’re simply questioning whether it was advisable.
Stay tuned … we’ll have a follow-up report tomorrow on some curious legal questions posed by Graham’s deployments.

Tom Brokaw was his helicopter pilot.
Not that it matters, he hasn’t got a Chinaman’s chance.
Brian Williams had been shot down the day before
Dammit! Beat me to it.
Maybe Graham is the one that blew Williams out of the air.
“Tom Brokaw was his helicopter pilot.”
Ha Ha! That’s some funny shit right there.
They all came under fire with Brian Williams in tow.
“I’ve visited and served lemonade in Afghanistan and the Middle East more than 20 times- it was fabulous.”
I personally know a former ATT employee who went to Afghanistan (Kabul) under contract to the Afghan government. This was totally not a military deployment. However, he had armed body guards accompanying him 24/7. So the fact that Graham (who would be considered a “high value” target) had “heavy protection” is not a surprise.
Jonathan Lubecky has a basis for criticizing another’s military service as he served. Will Folks has no basis upon which to do it as he stayed home.
I bet John Kerry will get another Purple Heart for his biking accident!

The M? Lai Massacre was the Vietnam War mass killing of between 347 and 504 unarmed civilians in South Vietnam on March 16, 1968. It was committed by U.S. Army soldiers from Company C of the 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 11th Brigade of the 23rd (American) Infantry Division. Victims included men, women, children, and infants. Some of the women were gang-raped and their bodies mutilated. Twenty-six soldiers were charged with criminal offenses, but only Lieutenant William Calley Jr., a platoon leader in C Company, was convicted. Found guilty of killing 22 villagers, he was originally given a life sentence, but served only three and a half years under house arrest.
The massacre, which was later called “the most shocking episode of the Vietnam War”, took place in two hamlets of S?n M? village in Qu?ng Ngãi Province. These hamlets were marked on the U.S. Army topographic maps as My Lai and My Khe. The U.S. military codeword for the alleged Viet Cong stronghold in that area was Pinkville, and the carnage was initially referred to as the Pinkville Massacre. Later, when the U.S. Army started its investigation, the media changed it to the Massacre at Songmy. Currently, the event is referred to as the My Lai Massacre in America and called the Son My Massacre in Vietnam.
The incident prompted global outrage when it became public knowledge in November 1969. The My Lai massacre increased to some extent domestic opposition to the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War when the scope of killing and cover-up attempts were exposed. Initially, three U.S. servicemen who had tried to halt the massacre and rescue the hiding civilians were shunned, and even denounced as traitors by several U.S. Congressmen, including Mendel Rivers, Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. Only after thirty years were they recognized and decorated, one posthumously, by the U.S. Army for shielding non-combatants from harm in a war zone.
We lost the Vietnam War.
We did.CBS made sure of that. That entire generation is responsible for the decline of America.
Ignorant ass.
IGNORANT Fixed it for you. I think? (trying out my new code, if it doesn’t work, will try again)
We lost the Viietnam war because of crack smoking pussies and traitors like YOU….and Walter Cronkite/CBS.The Communist Broadcasting System.
Then you Vietnam era pussies and traitors infiltrated our state controlled universities and you/they have brainwashed another generation of young minds with your American hating filth.
No, we lost the Vietnam War because we inserted ourselves into a civil war and our side lost after we left. And we left because the American people had said “enough.” So if you’re intent is to say that the vast majority of American citizens are communists and pussies, why don’t you get a one-way ticket to Russia and go live there. We have no need for you. And Iraq is lost for the same reason, it’s a country in the middle of a civil war. ISIS in Iraq is primarily former Iraqi military who have sided with ISIS as a way to obtain access to weapons and funding. They are, for the most part, not Muslim fanatics, only siding with a smaller group of fanatics to advance their goals of autonomy. And the Iraqi government, after 45,000 Americans died or were maimed trying to give them a functioning country, have screwed the whole thing up. And anyone who thinks that had we left a residual force there this wouldn’t have happened is kidding themselves. The only thing 5,000 residual troops, or even 10,000 residual troops, would have been is targets for car bombs. And this idea we should send ground forces to Iraq – news flash – they haven’t asked nor would they give permission. They will not allow American combat brigades back into Iraq, and the American people will not stand for it. Want to defeat ISIS – send the Iranian irregulars more bullets, grenades and mortars – let them handle it. I for one am tired of American kids dying in that hell hole.
The majority of Americans are patriots.Liberal socialists like YOU are pussies and despise America.
You hate EVERYTHING about America.America is evil and the root of all evil in this world according to your warped view of this great country.
Appeasing our enemies and destroying the moral/cultural foundations make you proud as you seek to chip away at the very foundation that this country was chartered.
Americans are dying in a ‘hell hole’ because our enemy knows we are weak….and that this pResident doesn’t mind seeing Christians slaughtered. They know HE is one of them
Yawn!!!!
Yawn!!!???You dumb fuckers have lost the battle of ideas in this country. You have lost middle America. Why you want illegal immigration-need to bring outsiders in because the American people have figured out liberals are dangerous.
We don’t want illegal immigrants. We want them legal – silly. You so full of rage, better watch that heart rate.
lol…you just can’t stand the truth
Liberals!
Muslim Obama!
ISIS!
Perverts and gay marriage!
Rocky Buzzman Syntwist!
I have a tiny one track mind!
LMAO!!! LMOA!!!!
Nice to have you back Tango – see you’re matured a lot.
No you just can’t comprehend the truth. It’s a disability – maybe you can get some guberment money for it.
I always look back fondly on the last time the US had a balanced budget. Who was that again – oh yeah – Bill Clinton.
We true patriots revel in your deep unending unhappiness. Jesus is on our side.
Well, yeah… but it was fun while it lasted.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you.
LOLOL
If you didn’t shoot anyone, you didn’t serve…correct? smh
Just because he has a non-combat job with the military and not a combat job doesn’t mean he wasn’t “serving” in the middle east. If he was there doing his duty, regardless of how long he was there, he was indeed serving. fits needs to just stfu…
These medals on my chest? This Purple Heart was for the time I had a nasty paper cut from filing courtroom briefs. It was infected for almost a week. This one was for the loose tooth I got in the latrine one time when that soldier called me a fag and told me to keep my hands in my own pockets, just before he slugged me.
That medal was for bravery while questioning a hostile witness who was on the stand.
Which other medals did you want to know about?
This is a lot to do about nothing. The fact that he served in the military in any capacity, at any place, or at any time still puts him in a category far removed from the likes of practically all of the other Republican candidates. He s better for it, and so is our country.
I would like to see a list of his medals and the citations that were presented to justify them.
Look…I am by no means a fan of Lindsey Grahamnesty, who has been a colossal disappointment by his unwavering support of Barry Soetoro’s destruction of America…but there are millions upon millons of Americans whose closest brush with combat was on the PS2 or some online App from the comfort of their living rooms.
At least, at least Grahamnesty put a uniform on and served his country in some capacity. He wasn’t out there playing community agitator, he wasn’t forming foundations to funnel money in exchange for favors from foreign governments, etc. There are plenty of things to mock and criticize him for: his military service isn’t one of them.
He should have been kicked out a long time ago. He is a clear danger and menace to society. Anyone who supports him is just as bad as he is. And that’s clear as bell. Is he going to “tell the bigots to shut up” again??
That does it. I’ll vote for him…
He put on his uniform, but I am of the opinion he grossly over exaggerates his service if he says he served in Afghanistan. When? How long? Even as a reservist he would have a DD214 that shows he went from reserve status to active duty status back to reserve. I think the term “serve” is used very loosely.
The crazies sure are coming out of the woodwork.
“I’ve …. served [in] … Afghanistan” …. He is a fool for lying again. He knows what he said. That is exactly the false perception that he wants to convey. There is no denying it, either. He can try. But it will not work. We already know he is psychotic. And this just merely proves it, once again. Take a close look at him. Study his youtubes, his rants, his body language …. The idiot is obviously a narcissistic self-centered pathological liar. Too me, he is nothing but scum who sucked and kiss ass to get to where he is today. This is not the old days when he could pull this shit off and get away with it. His mask of deception has been pulled off for all to see his ugly self-centered egotistical mentally unstable self. He thinks he has it all figured out, when he doesn’t. You’d have to be either corrupt to stand with this guy, or blind as a bat.
From the looks of it, there was no shortage of corrupt or blindcas a bat people standing behind this contemptable twit in Central, SC. My guess is they are just terminally stupid, same as the ones who voted him back in for another six, last year.
Where is Graham’s home town? I think Seneca, so Central is just around the corner. Hate I missed that – ha!
I know. Now you only have the dumpster site as an option for getting rid of those rotten tomatoes.
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Graham is scum? Thought his parents died early and he raised his sister?
How ironic some hating on America, the military and his service abandoned their own children in the name of ‘service’.
Graham did not. Faith, family and country.Graham got it right.
Graham is fucked up. Nuff said.
I don’t know Graham’s service history, but a copy of his DD214, should prove whether or not he “served” in Afghanistan. Not everyone who serves is issued a 9mm? Unless times have changed since I served, he is roughly 11 years older, but stayed in the military much longer …. hard to imagine EVERYONE carries a 9mm?????
Well he is/was an Air Force Colonel, aren’t most ranking officers issued a side arm? Especially when they are in a combat zone. Does the Air Force still issue .38 revolvers to air crews?
I don’t the know the answer to whether they issue .38 revolvers to “air crew” but I was married to an air surveillance officer who was Lt. Col in his early 30’s. To my knowledge he was never issued a service weapon, but then again we did divorce after 9 +/- years.
I was also attached to a Fleet Hospital with the Navy, I don’t recall officers being issued any 9mm. To say he “served” that IMO is a big stretch. While I am pro-defense. One of my biggest gripes with Graham, which I at one point posted on his page, had to do with service men.
Most of my knowledge of the Military comes via the US Army via friends and family that served in various special forces rolls, on dust-off units in Vietnam and the 82nd Airborne in the 80s and 90s. I don’t have much knowledge of the Air Force or how non-combat positions are staffed and equipped. Everyone I know was issued at a minimum at .45, 9mm or .38 revolver (helicopter crew) for a sidearm and either an M-14, M-16 or both as service rifles.
Graham is a politician solider, and he’s playing technicalities of if you were in theater one day technically you served in the conflict. It’s a scummy way to conduct business if you ask me but since he’s a JAG officer and a civilian politician/attorney I wouldn’t expect much more out of him. I haven’t voted for him since the first time he ran for senate, I just vote libertarian. He doesn’t impress me….
To a military service member, being in theatre one day isn’t serving as part of a war. I was in the military, married to an Air Force Officer, later worked for a Defense Contractor, so most of my knowledge is very personal – thus the some of the anger that comes out in comments.
A JAG officer – let me tell you what they do. I don’t like spieling this much info on social sites, but….I went to war. I had a young toddler at the time. I was prior active duty and at that time a reservist going to college, early 20’s. So many reservists bailed, claimed hardship or went AWOL. I did not go with my unit, but was called up and cross assigned to another unit. I likely could have claimed hardship, as a single mother, but I didn’t. I believed in the cause. Yes, maybe foolishly, but I did believe I was doing what was best for my child in my young naive way of thinking.
I had a good job at the time. I was so desperate when I got that job they had 2 openings published and asked which one I wanted. I told them I’d do both of them. They were impressed and offered me 1.5 pay to do both jobs. Within a month or two, I was the manager/job coordinator. A great job for me at that age. I lost money when I went to war – every day I was there.
I didn’t get paid for months, they weren’t prepared for the massive movement. What little I was paid went to pay for long distance calls home to talk to my baby.
I came back to no job, my car in the shop, my pay clogged in the system, my home was gone, I had no where to live. I needed only 6 months to get on my feet, I knew I would get a job. I called JAG – they are supposed to help you, you know, uphold all the promises the military makes to keep their soldiers doing their job. I got the run around – day after day. When I finally reached a JAG officer, the best advice he could give me was to write a letter to my former employer.
Long and short – I lost custody of my child, til this child was old enough to make their own decisions – age 12. A gliche in the system, no wrong doing on my part except I went to war. I found another job. I got back on my feet.
I finally made it – no more worries. My child is here. But….nothing can ever give me back those lost years. I take full responsibility for my actions, but I don’t recommend anyone follow a loud mouth that have never really been to war.
You went throgh hell, for sure. You made a remarkable recovery from your ordeal. Much respect to you! Though the phrase has become somewhat cliche’, thank you for your service and your sacrifice!
You are kind. I am not expecting a thank you – so thank you! I just hope people learn from some of my experiences, as I hope to learn from theirs.
Horseshit.Family Court doesn’t work that way.
It does if you don’t have the money to pay.
Sounds like hell. I’ll write up a story about dealing with a JAG officer one day as a civilian. It was a nightmare and I was trying to be helpful. I need to sanitize it before I write it otherwise I’ll give too much information away.
that sounds like sarcasm, but almost true….LOLOL
No sarcasm. It’s very true. Crazy is what it was. Lt. Col. called my desk phone at work on behalf of a soldier in Guam that screwed up something I was in charge of fixing “billing errors” for. It made for an interesting week.
Hopefully no one I knew – I had friends in Guam too LOL ;)
You must have changed your comment. Just a FYI – I had a hard time responding due to notifications.
It’s all good. I usually end up fat fingering something and have to go back and fix it. Especially on the iPad. Thank goodness for my real computer and the ability to type 80+ CWPM when I’m at it.
Yep, just beware you give up your disqus ;)
My gripe with Graham about the military? He has served very little active duty time, no real war time that I can account for via any source. Yet when Iraq was flexing their muscle, saying our troops would be tried by their laws – Graham argued to keep them there.
I don’t disagree we needed more stability in that area, but I would not commit troops to an area to help them, yet subject them to that nations brutal laws. He would. Try to imagine you are under a government contract, you expect the government to uphold their end of the bargain, you cannot sue them for wrongdoing – ever. Yet, they can change that contract on a dime during war time.
I did my time in war – thank goodness I never served under Graham. I was pissed off enough at Bush Sr. at the time and that is what led me to vote for Ross Perot.
Lindsay looks about as goofy in that uniform as Michael Dukakis did in the tank
I am embarrassed for Michael Dukakis.
I’m embarrassed for the Uniform and the Tank.
How many confirmed kills has he got?
Does O’Reilly have the footage?
Not as many as he’d like IMHO. He isn’t running to be POTUS, he is likely hoping for Secretary of Defense or maybe a VP slot, he knows he can’t muster the votes for POTUS. Again, my opinion.
I personally think, if he wants to tout how he “served” he needs to spend a few months in the desert sand with no special perks. Then he can say he served, til then it is demeaning for those who have served and weren’t issued some 9mm that “everyone” else had(s).

He should have done what Kerry did in Nam. Have a camera crew with him to video it. I never knew another jr. grade officer to have that.
If a car backfired 10 miles away, he’d climb into the nearest guy’s lap.
LMAO – I would not be surprised!
That’s funny!
Max is extremely clever and sometimes funny! His comment above is really funny.
If Graham had 2 Purple Hearts like Kerry, we’d never hear the end of it.
If Graham had been a POW like McCain, we’d never hear the end of it. Graham walked around a base for a week with his hand nervously clutching a 9mm, and we still never hear the end of it!
Kerry is an American hating traitor like Obama. Why they are appeasing. our enemies.
Morning Flip!
No, Dems and most rational thinking Americans just find you entertaining. Now let us go back to our lives improving this country for which you do – Nothing!
I find you liberals entertaining. You try and undermine every institution in this country (national defense, state controlled schools, churches) ….advocating policies that empower our enemies including open borders to turn us into a third world country and promote social perversion that includes partial birth abortion and gay marriage. You are working on destroying a second generation of our children with your disdain for traditional values.
Yeah, we’re destroying this country. Right. You so funny. You make me laugh. Hey, they have channels on cable – show movies from the early 1950s all day long. You can always go and relive the past if you want. No one is stopping you. For the rest of us, we’ll move forward.
Moving forward? 35% on welfare? 40 million on food stamps? Our cities on fire.Middle east on fire.Half of all homes with no father?
Keep moving forward Rocky.
What cities on fire. Baltimore? Big deal. A race riot. Like the ones in Miami during Ronnie’s days? Or LA under BUSH 1. Middle East on fire – we’ll dude – we know who started that problem. Half homes without a father? False. Year or over year – Food Stamp participation is down by 1/2 a million. Welfare – real number – for traditional welfare – confirmed by CATO just 6 weeks ago – 11 million. That’s not 35% nut job, that’s 3%. Gee you can’t get fact straight to save your life. Here’s some real numbers for you – 5.5% unemployment, labor participation steady (down but then why do you hate stay at home Moms, 16-year-old kids and early retirees), manufacturing jobs are booming, real estate values increasing, new home construction is up. Every indicator for America is looking good. You’re always the same. You and your party screw everything up, and then get rejected by the American people, and you resort to calling us all Commies. Oh my – that’s so mature. You can’t even call us anything modern, just resort to 1950s name calling – Commie. Red. Simply pathetic. Now just be quiet and enjoy the good we do so you can retire and live happy.
My fault…70% of black homes don’t have a father.

Declining Labor Participation Rates – FactCheck.org
http://www.factcheck.org/…/declining-labor-participation-rates/
FactCheck.orgMar 11, 2015 – As the graph shows, the participation rate in February 2015 (62.8 percent) is the lowest since March 1978
Rocky NOBODY lies like you!!! You are the best!!! LMAO!!!
Sorry Flip – that 35% figure from CNS News ( founded by L. Brent Bozell III on June 16, 1998, under the name Conservative News Service) has been debunked. Better Google some more current information – like the one confirmed by CATO Institute April 2015. Traditional welfare doesn’t usually include counting maimed and disabled vets from Iraq who access those programs as part of their disability, retired Americans and children who cannot work as being part of the percentage. Again – 11 million on welfare, 350 million in the population – it’s really easy math. Hint = .03 is the same as 3%.
But so glad you included the factcheck stuff. Did you read it? Here’s some tidbits from that analysis – “Sen. Lindsey Graham said the labor participation rate “is at an all-time low.” That’s not accurate. It was lower between 1948 and 1978.” Here’s another – “economists say most of the decline, which has been happening for more than a decade, is due to demographics, including the trend of baby boomers reaching retirement age and deciding to no longer work.” And some more – “The participation rate in February 2015 (62.8 percent) is the lowest since March 1978. But the rate was lower than that every month between 1948 and 1978”
Ooops – that wasn’t supposed to be in the Conservative Cybercrap News articles.
How about this conclusion – from your source – “the labor force participation rate has been declining for more than a decade, and economists predict it will continue to decline for the next decade and more.”
So on this one – I’ll go with your source. Thanks.
Democrat talking points, 02/Jun/2015.

Not as many as Muslim Obama.Christians are dying all over the world.O’Reilly has footage of that.
You mean there are still some Christians left…. and O’Reilly has footage to prove it? I’d like to see *that* footage!!!

I thought every military member who ever joined is a hero and risked their lives for our freedom.
Not everyone who ever joined is a hero. Not everyone who has information is a hero. For example, I consider Snowden, Wikileaks aka Julian Assage (sp?) and other traitors. What are the chances Graham would ever see real life war? None. IMO. Why? Because he has political pull.
Dick Cheney, whom I personally consider a draft dodger 5x, was Secretary of Defense during Desert Storm, but Swarzkopf (sp?) and Powell ran the war.
I am starting to form the opinion the Secretary of Defense should be a coward aka draft dodger, because they are afraid, maybe they do value the lives of the soldiers they put on the front lines as pawns.
You are a disgrace to this nation and our military.Ya come on here playing a victim- “I was hacked”-and writing “Dear Will, I came back to help you but if they are mean and disagree with me I am out” ….then you throw your alleged military service out here to gain sympathy while at the same time attacking others that serve and calling them traitors and the grand finale is you lost your own child in the Family Court.A mother has a better chance of winning the lottery then losing their child in the family court….
What are *you* going to be when *you* grow up?
Woa! Max taking up for me? Dang, I was waiting for my next good pop ;)
stepping on a snake is a public service – it’s good for everyone.
Thanks!
I’m not even sure why I engage you, I have nothing to prove to you or anyone on this site. You spew garbage daily and I’ve always been a sucker for the under dog. Here are some scraps:
I have a DD214 to prove my military service. I respect the military, but not to be used as pawns. The longer people are in, the more calloused they become. Brainwashed even. My husband of 9 +/- years was married to the military, that is what it takes to survive in that world. I had a conversation with him a couple years back. He flew on AWACS. There are articles on Wiki of people I personally knew. The Huey that was shot down, I knew most everyone on board the AWACs plane, but luckily my X was on a training mission. The crew on that flight took a bullet for a gun ho fighter pilot who made the call but was exonerated.
My X somehow ended up in the Middle East when we separated, can recall EXACTLY where, but he described what he called an “epiphany” He was on an aircraft, and a low tech missile was fire (grenade launcher?) – they had a crash landing. He retired, probably Colonel or higher rank at the time? I never asked.
People often comment about Quantico in reference to me. I never went to Quantico, my X did. But he didn’t work FBI to my knowledge, it was survival training. I lived near there at one point, but I was never privy to the information that happened there. I do know he did not work for FBI when we separated.
A mother who cannot provide a home for her child, food for her child – has not chance of winning in court, not even SC. I didn’t live in SC at the time. That is as much information as I am giving on this topic.
Lying POS.
I didn’t “lose” custody. I had shared custody, I wasn’t the custodial parent. I forgot to mention that.
Who is the liar? Take a look in the mirror.

Chickenhawks are never afraid to risk the lives of other people.

I love my Muslim goddess Haley though!!! LMAO!!! LMAO!!!
It’s the thought that counts.
Special operations soldiers often carry a handgun as a secondary weapon to serve in a supplementary capacity to their primary weapon (a rifle, carbine, submachine gun, or shotgun); this practice is not as prevalent among conventional soldiers.
However, drivers are often issued a handgun since while driving, their rifle will be stowed on a rack and thus difficult to make ready quickly in an emergency whereas a handgun is more easily accessible.
The tradition of issuing pistols to officers as a primary weapon is being phased out by many nations. The United States Marine Corps, for example, recently began requiring all enlisted personnel and all officers below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to carry the M4 Carbine as their primary weapon. British officers on combat duty are also normally issued with the standard rifle but are not required to carry it with them at all times, for example while operating as support staff the rifle would be stored in the base armory though this is the same for most support staff.
Very few military personnel are issued handguns.
Anyone familiar with the military knows this.
I was issued a rifle, but only for specific duties. What is actually hilarious about that, I used to be able to shoot quite well. Don’t use it, you lose it. I think I told the story of a midnight Sheriff Deputy pulling onto our property after midnight. No idea who he was, had just moved, husband gone up to check it out, put my daughter in the bedroom and come running out with a Gloc.
I didn’t even know how to fire the damn thing – I slapped a magazine in and ran with it. There wasn’t even a bullet in the chamber – I didn’t know. Do now.
At the time the law for CWP was the same for everyone but prior military. That was a joke to me. It isn’t like we sit around practicing target shooting. Heck, I’m not even sure I could remember how to shoot a M-16. But I sure do know how to bluff….LOL. I figure the butt of the gun, whether pistol or rifle, is about as good as the bullet that I can’t shoot (dying laughing)
pistols are ok in close quarters, but I prefer a rifle.
I was a sharpshooter in the Army. A lot of people don’t like the M-16.. I loved it – low recoil, light, powerful, long range, accurate, easy to clean, fast take down, reassemble… if it jambs, a couple of whacks, and it’s shooting again.. shoots like a bb gun, kills like a 30-30.
I had a few conversations with the Colonel about it, and while I was educating him, I found it shoots a round that can put a hole in 1/4″ standard steel plate at 300 meters!
Fuck a bunch of M-14’s… this thing rocks!
I want a M-16, I loved it too, but very out of practice. I am far better at shooting a rifle than handgun – I think due to vision.
I did have a gun range installed after ignorantly waving a gun around, that I didn’t even know how to release the magazine. (shaking my head in shame).
With a handgun, I want to grip with both hands – I get clipped. The first time I shot on range, I had no idea where the blood was coming from – it was on the gun, running up my arm. My first thought – dang, did I shoot myself? Closer inspection, I had my hands too high up on the Gloc and the chamber was destroying my thumb. Adrenaline was rushing because I hadn’t shot in a good while, so I just kept firing at target. I never even felt the chamber hit. I had a gash and not a little one. I probably needed stitches, but thought heck, it’s a scratch. It bled through the band-aid for like 3 DAYS.
You can only buy a dumbed down M-16 on the market, or at least that is my information. If you have better, that is what I want. We have purchased a few shotguns/rifles, but haven’t found a M-16 for sale military style.
There are lots of sites on the internet that teach you how to convert an M-16 legally.
I wish they’d give me the M4. Most people in my company get M16A4’s, and they often ask the armorers to issue them M4’s, or better yet, the coveted M9. I hear the rumors that they’ll phase out the M16, but I don’t expect it to happen for years.
I wouldn’t mind being issued one before a run, but lower muzzle velocities and louder report due to the shorter barrel, additional stress on parts because of the shorter gas system, and a tendency to overheat faster than the M16A2… I’m too used to the M16.
You’d take a pistol into battle?
No, of course not. But I’m a radio maintenance technician. The chance that I’ll be on patrol is as low as the chance my battalion will be deployed to a combat zone. The M16 is a fine weapon, but too bulky for what my regular duties are.
I thought the chances of me being called up as a reservist were slim to none – I was a paper pusher with a logistics unit, who got cross assigned to a hospital. My unit wasn’t deployed, but I was.
Your job as a radio technician would likely have been more useful than my ability to fill out paperwork, so don’t discount that you could be called up.
radio maintenance technician

crypto?
I account for and perform maintenance on radios and radio configurations. There’s a lot of administrative work involved- sometimes it’s the bulk of the job. I will make sure the radios function correctly and can use crypto, but we get our cryptographic keys from our regimental EKMS (if I remember correctly, Encryption Key Management System). Radio operators are responsible for loading the crypto and operating the radios.
Strange how the accounts for “syntwist” and “festus” were created within a couple of days of each other. Note how their syntax is pretty much identical.
Hi Flip! Back to using fake accounts again?
Yes and he is making every effort to make people paranoid of me – divide and conquer. If I were some secret spy, who worked for the FBI, I think I could find better sites to “spy” on.
Haven’t given it much thought, but Fox News does come to mind ;)
He’s paranoid of you because he’s afraid of you, because you are kicking his ass on a daily basis. The people who own his ass every day here really get to him and it is funny as hell to watch him lash out at them.
It is humorous to watch. I think Max is the one who owned him. He said he was changing his SN and Max came up with a couple of his clever one liners and poof! Just like that, he deleted it all. LOL
I think festus blew a gasket when he read you were attacking Graham for his military service (after he raised his sister when his parents died young) and you abandoned your child/court took her when you decided to go play GI-JO.
Seems to me the service to ones child is more worthy and important than service to ones country.Just me.
Why don’t you just ask yourself since we all know that festus is just another one of your fake online identities. Caught you again! :-)
I appreciate your keen observations. Did you spend the night making that up after you deleted your comments? You have some facts wrong, but it is apparent you are a sexist. Do our men play GI-JO? Or is it only women?
Here are some interesting facts for you:
“While the major political parties with the exception of the Sadrist movement supported a U.S. military presence, only the Kurdish parties, about 20 percent of the parliament at best, supported parliament-granted legal immunities for U.S. military personnel. It was the considered position of the administration, including the U.S. military and myself, that our forces could not remain without a parliament-endorsed agreement granting such immunities, and so our forces were withdrawn in accordance with the 2008 agreement.”
Spokesmen for McCain and Graham declined to comment.”

Hiding behind your ‘alleged’ military service while playing victim and attacking others that serve and our country, doesn’t impress me.
A true,American hating liberal invoking the ‘sexist’ card and disparaging her country, you INDEED are.
Pay me no mind, but go look on Military.com and see what commenters have to say about him:
“Sen. Lindsey Graham How dare you take away from those that served to protect you!! get off your duff and go to the front lines, go to the hospital see what they gave up for YOU!! My husband is DEAD because of people like you. I lost my home because the military would not help him. Veterans Affairs is a huge crock of crapola. You should be giving up things not the military! You live on a budget the average retired military person lives on. I imagine you live in a huge house drive a nice car or have a driver to drive you. I will make you a deal you come to where I live for and live off what I have and see how you like knowing the average retired military person lives below the poverty line can’t pay for their meds. can’t afford the niceties or the luxuries which you have those who want to cut military benefits should be charged with murder because that is what you will be doing. The cost of living is going up and you want to take away. Start with your self not the ones who have lost so much spouses children arms legs eyesight hearing worst of all support, Like I said you come live off my budget and see how you do”
and
I fail to understand, I guess, why the people on Capital Hill always want to help the military with their retirement plans. What’s wrong with the current plan? I know our budget has problems but why does the military service member have to be the one to give up their benefits to help the budget. After all we are the ones who do duty to ensure the ones on Capital Hill have the funds to provide for all the programs they want. What rules do elected officials have for retirement, should theirs be better then the ones who fight, get wounded and even die so we can have the freedoms we have in America.

FBI ain’t stupid.
FBI brother…
I am sooooo disappointed :( Looks like syntwistsuglydog is gone and deleted comments. ha!
There, I fixed it.
I’m surprised more Neocon politicians don’t do this. Do a short military stint in a non-combat zone after college, then become a JAG in the reserve or National Guard for the rest of their lives. That way, they can say they are not chickenhawks while not actually risking their lives in any meaningful way in the wars they promote.
My husband is a JAG reservist. He has served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He risked his life “in meaningful ways” including the battle of Basrah and in serving as a driver on daily convoys through Afghanistan. He was in several very close calls and has the hardware to prove it. My brother is a JAG in the National Guard and spent a year on the border of Iraq getting shot at. The both volunteered to serve, volunteered for their deployments, and volunteered for their assignments. Be careful when painting with such a wide brush.
Yes, but they actually “served” as do many reservists. One year on the border of Iraq – I doubt they would be in favor of military members being tried by another countries laws (i.e. Iraq). Are they exaggerating their service for political reason?
He’s right, just talking about a different kind of service.
“We’re not questioning Graham’s right to say he “served” in these conflicts.”
Well, I am.
General? In the picture above he is only a Colonel.
This is hilarious! Check the disclosure in teeny weeny letters at the bottom of Graham’s campaign site: “Use of Senator Graham’s military rank, job titles, and photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement by the Department of the Air Force or the Department of Defense.” Ya think?

Jon Lubecky is a known liar and has a criminal record. I wouldn’t use him as a source again bud. Google him.
#1 Lubecky is the biggest pos known to man that regularly inflates his own military service. As far as sources go you’re definitely on thin ice.
#2 Graham was an Air Force JAG officer. Do you expect a JAG Colonel to be getting in firefights at remote Afghan outposts? Everybody has a job so calling out “real” deployments is idiocracy.
True! I can’t believe Lubecky is speaking this way about Col Graham. Didn’t he apply for an internship for Graham’s campaign and get turned down?
Grahamnesty said Tuesday…sure I was in Afghanistan and had
good protection—I’m a senator and hey I’m not a dope
And I made certain all my guards were present and armed to
the teeth—except when I was in the shower picking up the soap !!!
