LEXINGTON LAWMAKER LEADING EFFORT TO SCRAP PAY RAISES FOR JUDGES

|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. Rep. Rick Quinn is leading an effort to block a proposed pay raise for South Carolina’s judges – even though they provide a core function of government (and even though they earn less than their peers around the country).

Sources in the S.C. House tell FITS Quinn is looking to have the raises stripped from the $25.7 billion budget – which remains in flux due to the drama surrounding an additional $400 million in surplus revenue.

According to the latest data, judges in general jurisdiction courts in the Palmetto State rank No. 32 nationally in terms of salary – while appellate court judges rank No. 30 and high court judges rank No. 37.

Personally, we have no problem with giving raises to judges and court officials.  After all, this is one of the few core functions which government ought to perform – and we have consistently called on core functions to be funded at appropriate levels.

Cops, clerks of court, judges, emergency responders, prison guards, etc. – these are the people we should be paying.

Quinn defended his attempt to remove the money, though, saying he didn’t think raises should be doled out at a time “when taxpayer’s personal income grows at less than three percent.”

Dude … try less than one percent.

We appreciate Quinn’s efforts to try and save taxpayers some money, but raises for judges makes sense to us because – unlike the overpaid “higher educrats” getting pay increases – they actually do something government is supposed to be doing.

UPDATE: According to Quinn, his efforts were successful.  “They backed down and took (the pay raises) out,” he told FITS, referring to House budget writers.

Good Morning Thomas;

Here is your vocabulary lesson for today.
Coprophilia (from Greek ??????, kópros—excrement and ?????, philía—liking, fondness) – is the paraphilia involvingsexual arousal and pleasure from feces.

Can you use Coprophilia in a sentence?

“FITS News is an alleged “News” website that is thick on gossip and lacking in professionalism, and polish.”

LoL

Not only that, the gaggle of sexual miscreants that post on Fits are scum buckets as well. Fits’ “Karl” revealed he is Folk’s brother in law. Karl also revealed he will take captured site statistics on visitors and run checks on their IP addresses that can show a person’s real address. Lazenby lives in Irmo with her attorney husband. Gunn and Bible Thumper are an item. Thumper goes to football games with her, he revealed. I suspect Fits turned over captured visitor information during the discovery phase when Kenny Lancaster’s critics posted some scummy inside info about the law enforcement adulterer. Then Fits says Ravenel was taking shots of liquor after his messy break up with the baby momma. All and all, with Haley’s 15% victory, Fits has shown he is not relevant and will make up trash talk about people for clicks. Did I mention they will use captured site stats to dig for info on visitors to the website?

Oh well.

The Plain Truth May 28, 2015 at 11:27 am

Yes … using ISP information to lead up to the actually mac address of a user, where they post from (even free WiFi) then hold that to all internet activity that the targeted machine has been involved in. So who wants their real name posted here? Oh, and if you think you can hide behind a proxy, man are you ignorant. Bounce around the world on a few different hubs? Same shit. You can’t really hide that well. Your only recourse is to purchase a used computer or smartphone with internet exclusively for bulshit like Bible Thumpers – and use free wifi.

Really doesn’t matter. The information can be analyzed and/or stored. So what? If it was used too hack or stalk someone I would assume criminal laws would apply? I would also assume that civil liability would apply if collected information was used to damage a contributor?

Thanks for the information.

Garbage May 29, 2015 at 12:03 am

You haven’t stalked and hacked? Wow! I am afraid of what your definition of stalking might be. Is that where you paraphrase what you think someone has said, but comments were deleted, so you changed it to suit your purposes?

Should criminal laws apply? Or are you free to say whatever you want, but the rest of us, need take heed and listen? That sounds strangely like a politician.

Thanks for the information.

South Carolina is a poor state. Its people earn well below the national average. Look at how much state employees are overpaid. Judges are nobody special. They all have fat assess, are corrupt. are not voted on by the people, and are in a clique with the rest of the cesspool of lawlessness.

God bless Rick Quinn! He has constituent service second to none and looks out for taxpayers as in this case. Most Judges make a decent salary over the table (and probably under) or there would be constant vacancies. Rick is right on this one.

Also, somebody in the rankings of salary has to be first and somebody has to be last. We are somewhere in the middle. Also our judges have a better retirement system plan than police or firefighters so it evens out.

With the benefits these judges get from the state on top of their salaries, as well as the “in chambers” weeks that many times amount to vacation days for them, they’re doing just fine.

Not to mention, many judges had to “sell” their old law firms when they were elected to the bench, and they certainly made a pretty penny off of that.

All in all, if a judge determines the salary and life of a practicing lawyer far exceeds that of a judge, s/he is more than welcome to step down and get back into the ring–but that’s not happening. Therefore, leave the salaries where they are.
