ADDRESSING GOVERNMENT’S ONGOING “WAR ON WOMEN”

|| By FITSNEWS || Presumed Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton paid her first campaign visit to South Carolina this week.  And while we used the occasion to highlight her ridiculous speaking demands, her refusal to answer questions and (most importantly) her influence peddling/ contribution to global instability … it would be wrong of us not to address her stated purpose for being here: Equal pay for women.

“You can’t stand up for equal pay if you don’t know you’re being paid unequally,” Clinton told an audience of Democratic women.

Mmm-kay.

Never mind that during her time in the U.S. Senate, Clinton paid women in her office 72 cents for every dollar paid to men, according to a report by The Washington Free Beacon.

Ouch …

That’s the sort of hypocrisy we pointed out when U.S. president Barack Obama made equal pay for women a big issue last year – despite the fact his administration has done nothing to address the existing 12.7 percent pay gap in federal positions.

Our view on equal pay (expressed here) is simple: To the extent a government employee has been hired to perform a core function of government (i.e. cops, courts, jails, roads, bridges, etc.) there should never be a gap in pay on the basis of gender – just as there should never be a gap in pay on the basis of ethnicity, race, religion or sexual orientation.

Sadly, “big gubmint” politicians of both parties keep perpetuating a “war on women” whenever taxpayer-funded paycheck time rolls around.

Now, when it comes to government having the authority to dictate hiring practices and pay rates in the private sector – that’s insane.

Government should have no role whatsoever in that process.

In fact politicians like Clinton who have perpetuated pay inequality in the public sector should take a double shot of STFU when it comes to demanding pay equality in the private sector.

Nope, all a man needs to do is talk man talk to climb that corporate ladder. There are many men I have a tremendous amount of respect for, who do work hard.

As a woman, I was grossly underpaid until early 30’s. I needed the job too bad, kid and bills to pay. Once I found stability, the ability to negotiate my salary, it was a whole new ballgame, but I have worked with men who made twice + my salary and were not as qualified. My output stands on its own merits. My bad I didn’t realize my value earlier, I was just more desperate, not due to knowledge, but I was willing to take any job to make ends meet.

When you are a manager of men and find out they are making more than you are – WTF? If they were as good as I was, then why weren’t they supervisors? Directors Of Operations? My employees made more than I did in many cases. I found out, people talk – do I need say how I felt about that? I even did payroll for many of these companies (office management), but knew, even though I increased their bottom line – I was last on the list for a raise.

I made it! I finally made it! Not in any small part due to fairness but diligence. It is NOT a fair playing field.

Garbage May 27, 2015 at 8:11 pm

considering women are willing to wear combat boots to make what men do – fair? ;-)

It isn’t the ugly women that are thumped. Look no further than this site. How many men post? When the women post, it is typically T&A. Sure they put themselves out there, but I wonder how much the men get paid? I wonder what happens to those pictures of say …. Taylor Brown or Mande Wilkes, should they ever decide to run for office.

It’s cool for men to make a fool of themselves, but women? Especially pretty ones?

euwe max May 27, 2015 at 8:39 pm

now we can get into something serious!

You are an IT guy… but I’m an *embedded* guy, and I *know* about that little processor in your hard drive… do you *really* expect me to accept that shot over the bow of facts without asking you “how?”

FastEddy23 May 27, 2015 at 8:42 pm

It got ah cup. It got ah instruction set. It got firmware. It got RAM. It go ah RAM cache, too. … Duh.

euwe max May 27, 2015 at 8:54 pm

here’s the deal, the drive controller doesn’t process commands from the file on the drive. It processes *only* commands from its own ROM, that have nothing to do with the files on the drive.

By definition, there’s no bridge between the drive controller processor and the data in the files on the drive.

FastEddy23 May 27, 2015 at 10:50 pm

The drive controller firmware can be updated. The drive controller can be “talked to” via a half dozen scenarios. …

So, describe how that F-Disk command works again? Same, same w/drive partitioning, sys-level OS changes to outer/inner “tracks”, bad block-block, … Doesn’t that count as commanding the drive controller to do unusual functions? … And I believe there is room in the drive ID info partition for quite a lot of differed addressing, interrupt control, etc. Western has a manual … So does McAfee.

euwe max May 27, 2015 at 11:17 pm

There is a language for talking to the controllers, but that language is not accessible from files being transferred by the drive controller. Ring 0 device drivers control the controllers… without access to Ring 0, there is no direct access to drive controllers. Ring 0 is prohibited by the processor without security clearance, and that clearance can only be provided through the installation of device drivers by the user… of course, exploits have found ways to hijack Ring 0 authority, but those exploits are *never* caused by the information being stored or transferred by the disk drive controllers, but by code being executed by the processor proper. Data files being fed to display drivers do not contain processor executable code – merely data which is read passively from the drive and stored in a video card and interpreted as pixels.

FastEddy23 May 28, 2015 at 12:18 pm

“… There is a language for talking to the controllers, but that language is not accessible from files being transferred by the drive controller. …” And that language is FORTH, or Forth = basically the bit twiddler that all hard drive and all computer firmware writers use.

“… Ring 0 is prohibited by the processor without security clearance, and that clearance can only be provided through the installation of device drivers by the user. …” and maybe a service technician interested in restoring, recovering or otherwise “fixing” it. (These drive controller controllers are available online: majorgeeks.com and elsewhere.)

euwe max May 27, 2015 at 9:05 pm

you’re wrong. I’m a citizen of the universe of ideas.

It is a core philosophy of mine that information should be freely shared, and that it is the essence of progress that we all contribute to the common goals of man.

War is stupid.

Garbage May 27, 2015 at 9:13 pm

If information is to be freely shared, then we should all have our phone conversations recorded, private property surveilled, why not install private camera’s in my bedroom, assuming you can do it when I am not at home?

Your core philosophy is information freely shared? I have a quote from a book I have been reading, that is somewhat applicable. It is science based on morality. You may find it interesting. You may not. But, let me see if I have a bookmark and I’ll type the passage.

Garbage May 27, 2015 at 9:22 pm

Sam Harris “The Moral Landscape” Again, we should observe the double standard in place regarding the significance of consensus: those who not not share our scientific goals have no influence on scientific discourse whatsoever; but for some reason, people who do not share our moral goals render us incapable of even speaking about moral truth. It is, perhaps, worth remembering that there are trained “scientists” who are Biblical Creationists, and their “scientific” thinking is purposed toward interpreting the data of science to fit the Book of Genesis. Such people claim to be doing “science,” of course, but the real scientists are free, and indeed obligated, to point out that they are misusing the term. Similarly, there are people who claim to be highly concerned about “morality” and “human values,” but when we see that their beliefs cause tremendous misery, nothing need prevent us from saying that they are misusing the term “morality” or that their values are distorted. How have we convinced ourselves that, on the mot important questions in human life, all views must count equally?

Garbage May 27, 2015 at 9:28 pm

Consider the Catholic Church: an organization which advertises itself as the greatest force for good and as the only true bulwark against evil in the universe. Even among non-Catholics, its doctrines are widely associated with the concepts of “morality” and “human values.” However, the Vatican is an organization that excommunicates women for attempting to become priests but doest not excommunicate male priests for raping children. It excommunicates doctors who perform abortions to save a mother’s life — even if the mother is a nine-year-old-girl raped by her stepfather and pregnant with twins—but it did not excommunicate a single member of the Third Reich for committing genocide. Are we really obliged to consider such diabolical inversion of priorities to be evidence of an alternative “moral” framework? No. It seems clear that the Catholic Church is as misguided in speaking about the “moral” peril of conception, for instance, as it would be in speaking about the “physics” of Transubstantiation. In both domains, it is true to say that the Church is grotesquely confused about which things in this world are worth paying attention to.

He who would learn to fly one day must learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.

Believe me! The secret to reaping the greatest fruitfulness and the greatest enjoyment from life is to live dangerously!

What is courage? This courage will not be the opposite of despair. We shall often be faced with despair, as indeed every sensitive person has been during the last several decades in this country. Hence Kierkegaard and Nietzsche and Camus and Sartre have proclaimed that courage is not the absence of despair; it is, rather, the capacity to move ahead in spite of despair.

“No revolution in outer things is possible without prior revolution in one’s inner way of being. Whatever change you aspire to in your affairs must be preceded by a change in heart, an active deepening and strengthening of your resolve to meet every event with equanimity, detachment, and innocent goodwill. When this spiritual poise is achieved within, magnificent things are possible without.”

“Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes. Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly. Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate or despise, serves to defeat us in the end. What seems nasty, painful, evil, can often become a source of beauty, joy and strength, if faced with an open mind. Every moment is a golden one for him who has the vision to recognize it as such.”

I know it stinks in here, ’cause I’m the shit.

Women are paid less, because they need the job more. That is my opinion. They also put up with a lot of harassment and BS to get their meager pay. Men are losing power because they are abusing power. Do I expect it will be largely different if women gain power? Absolutely not.

Truth is, most every job a young pretty girl/woman works, she will be sexually harassed and underpaid. She is right “You can’t stand up for equal pay if you don’t know you’re being paid unequally,”

It is also true for every sex and race. Those who know how to negotiate salary best are in the know and have nothing to lose. Those who need the money are willing to take whatever crumbs are thrown their way.

Should it change? I survived, I expect others will too. What really needs to change is more minorities stepping up to be leaders.

Just because someone is paid more, doesn’t mean they are worth more. Hope each and every person realizes their own value and does some research to validate that for confidence in asking for a pay raise.

you see – you never even tried to work with her. Men only share knowledge with women when they want something. You could have helped her, but she obviously was afraid to ask you. I can’t imagine why.

Men often claim women expect them to be mind readers, but I find men often expect women to be. Not only, do they expect women to read their minds, when they fail to read a woman’s mind, all bets are off. They are prone to snoop, gather, do whatever is necessary to push every button. When in fact, a simple question might bring an answer to your dilemma – i.e. how can I help you? What did I do wrong? We aren’t communicating very well, how can I contribute to a better communication between us?

It take two. The minute someone thinks they can read my mind, they have it horribly mixed up. I am an open book, easy communication, but that is often mistaken for weakness. Oh My! We really should stop while we still have some blood left ;)
