GROWING UP WITH THE “1%ERS”
|| By FAITH FALISE || With all the news lately focusing on bikers, whether it be black biker week or the shootings by biker gangs in Waco, Texas, I feel compelled to shed some light on this group of miscreants. “Biker” is a term that’s been used erroneously and interchangeably as of late, but there is a marked difference between bikers (“1%ers”) and recreational bikers.
“1%er” refers to outlaw bikers, and dates back to a statement attributed to the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) in the aftermath of a 1947 riot in Hollister, California. According to the outlaws, the AMA stated that “99 percent of bikers are law-abiding citizens” – implying that the remainder were not.
My mother and her cohorts lived the outlaw biker lifestyle for years. Our home was the clubhouse for the Pagans (Hells Angels main rival in the northeast). While most kids were going to birthday parties, I was being taught how to smuggle drugs into prisons. My experience came hard.
Surprisingly though, I have found through social media and casual conversation that not many people have heard of this sub-set of biker known as 1%ers. They tend to think all bikers are the same. They are not. 1%er bikers and their cronies are notorious for human trafficking, drug manufacturing, violence, gun running, prostitution, and being henchmen for the mob. 1%ers are not part of some beneficent “community” of recreational bikers as some would posit. And they are still as active as they ever were.
Sure, biker gangs try to craft their public relations image with bullshit charity bike runs and Toys-for-Tots events. But make no mistake: Bikers, real 1% bikers are criminals, highly organized, highly territorial and highly profitable in their illegal endeavors. They purposely live outside the laws of society and decency and try to fly under the radar. Similar to the mafia, a One Percenter gets their designation by murdering a rival or a snitch. Call it vicious hazing on an unimaginable level.
While prospects get trained to be loyal gang members, women in biker gangs get “trained” to be good money makers. Bikers use intimidation, assault, gang rape and murder on these women. Women (or sheep, as they’re first called) get passed around between “bros.” The women have to earn the title of being someone’s Ole’ Lady and once they do, they sport their “Property Of …” patch. She becomes the property of the gang. Eventually, the women get been pimped out by the gang to earn their keep or they can be sold, auctioned or gifted any way the 1%er chooses. Human trafficking at its most base.
1%er bikers are the baddest of all the bad asses and the most insidious of all criminals. So, readers and defensive posturers take note; know who you are defending. Defending a 1%er biker is to defend the ugly crimes which they commit. There is a difference.

I find it interesting that the bi monthly meeting of the Confederation of Clubs in Waco had taken place peacefully for 18 years. The shootout that took place last weekend was likely a well orchestrated ambush by law enforcement, sparked off by a “shoving match” between a couple of plants/informants. Don’t get me wrong, some of 170 individuals that they arrested are not exactly boy scouts, but to have a small scuffle in the bathroom escalate to a few dozen swat members with automatic weapons mowing people down, literally within seconds just doesn’t add up. Can’t wait to see the parking lot footage.

It’ll be interesting to see how many of the 9 were shot in the back.
From the photos I’ve seen there are NO shell casings around the bodies of the deceased. Sounds like a massacre to me. Many of the 170 arrested have NO criminal record. This is nothing more than a dragnet that will result in dozens of counter suits for false imprisonment and other civil rights violations.

We’ll see if all these conspiracy theory civil suits (they won’t be counter suits because there’s no civil suit involved in criminal arrests). If so, I’ll pop back on here and eat my crow. It’s all a little premature, though, considering they don’t even know who shot who just yet. Let’s let all of that get sorted out before we get too deep…
As I have speculated to family and a few friends, I will be seriously surprised if more than fifty of those arrested go to trial and more than thirty (probably much fewer) are convicted. The whole story thus far reeks of bullshit.
And the majority of the country is saying, “good shoot”.

really – I don’t know jack shit about bikers but if I wanted to take a bunch of them out why not ambush them on a stretch of highway – perhaps the pictures of them riding in groups is not correct but if it is would not this be the perfect time to hit them
Like Israel does, fire a rocket into the center of the group on a main highway. You might hit something… but on Palestinian freeways, it’s a fair bet all collateral damage will be muslim.
On US Route 75, not so much.
It would be challenging to station 10-12 SWAT snipers on rooftops to conduct THAT sort of ambush. A parking lot with elevated vantage points proves to be much more fruitful.

They are finding out now (via survellience cameras at Twin Peaks) that the frecas DID not start in the bathroom but somewhere else (possibly in the parking lot) because some took refuge in the bathroom and others are seen helping get people inside away from the gunfire.
I have no sensible reason to believe that the cops set this shit up but I am pissed that a lot of the people were arrested that had nothing to do with the killings. A lot of these guys are trades-type dudes (plumbers,construction workers,truckers, etc.) and have lost their jobs and their families are suffering just because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time and were netted up by the long arm of the law and very may have nothing to do with the murders.
if you want up credible to date information just go to on-line edition of the Waco Tribune newspaper. It is the best source for this story (that’s what I’ve been doing daily)
Just another reason not to trust internet gossip and bullshit on talk radio but the newspaper (in this case the on-line edition) to know what the real story is for stuff like this.

From what I’ve read in the Waco Tribune (on line edition) it is not being released but some AP news types were allowed to view it. That’s how the details of the fight NOT starting in the bathroom were revealed. Seems like I recall reading there are a number of angles (since most establishments like Twin Peaks have a bunch of video cameras in different parts of the establishment)
I’d guess that the videos are being withheld for now as part of the investigation
I’m thinking that LE is closely reviewing them to decide who was NOT involved in the fracas or shootings in order to release the non-participants.

One retired cop who is under arrest has already been fired from his job as a school bus driver because he has been arrested but NOT convicted according to the Waco Tribune.
My Dad, who was career Army, gave me some advice before I enlisted in the Navy: If I plan to get into a trouble situation always try to be alone. That way there are no witnesses and I won’t have to lie to protect a buddy.

I used to go to Daytona for “Bike Week”. Since i rode a “rice burner” I knew which bars to park my bike and which ones to NOT park – you didn’t need to be a genius to know the difference.
If someone fucked my bike up and i saw them doing it it would have been on and it might not end up with me winning.

There’s a world of difference between a “motorcyclist” and a “biker” (and most of the “bikers” you see at breastruant “bike nights” are not true 1%’ers {BTW, Twin Peaks” has announced an end to “bike nights” nationwide for now according to the online edition of the Waco Tribune.).

A couple of incidences need to be brought up from over 30+ years ago: The Charlotte Observer covered it thouroughly (like a good newspaper should)
Charlotte,NC used to have a real bad “biker” problem (I used to live north of Charlotte back in the 1980’s.)
First big story was at least 6 people {probably more} were murdered execution style in a house in Charlotte who were members of some “biker” gang. It was big news- i think some of the people killed were women. Dogs were killed as well. It was believed the killings were the result of a rivalry between biker gangs.
Not long afterwards, some bikers started to make some camping area their ‘turf” in the mountains north of Charlotte. They thundered up some mountain road one weekend and were ambushed (shot off their bikes). it was never discovered who ambushed them (as far as I know). some speculated that it was a rival gang others speculated it was the locals who did not want them in the area, Either way, no trouble in that part of the country happened since as far as biker gangs trying to make some camping area their own. I don’t think the cops really pressed the issue.
Last thing;
Around that time “John Boy” of John Boy and Billy” talked smack about biker gangs in the Charlotte area (I remember it well). Word got out that “John Boy’ was going to get a real ass-whipping for talking smack.
I heard John Boy’s “apology” on the radio. You could hear the fear in “John Boy’s” voice as he backtracked from his smack-talking. I still remember it like it was yesterday.

You might be able to access the Charlotte Observer archives (all except “John Boy”‘s profuse backtrack which I vividly remember because you could tell he was scared shitless by his voice.- I don’t listen to their show much anymore UNLESS it’s a Best of JB&B while they are on vacation). I mostly listen to WXRC-FM 95.7 out of Charlotte (the best independent classic rock station in the country – INMHO) or SiriusFM(opps, I meant SiriusXM – fuck you Mel Karmazin for fucking up a good thing!!!- but I digress……)
I haven’t read the Charlotte “O’ lately but they might run a rehash of the trouble back in the 80’s as a result of what hapened in Waco.

It was actually July 4, 1979……………..
5 people were indeed murdered “execution style” (4 males, 1 female – it dosen’t mention dogs but seems like I remember the Charlotte “O:” mentioning that.) They were members or associated with the “Outlaw” MC (big rivals of the Hell’s Angels)
it is still Charlotte’s biggest mass murder and has not been solved but is speculated to be due to a rivalry (like I posted)
Hundres of the “Outlaw” MC members from all over the country converged on Charlotte for the funeral and I remember that being a concern (same thing might happen for the Bandiditoes & Cossacks too when they are buried)

This piece is right about one thing- there is a ton of misconception about outlaw bikers, in both directions. There are, of course, some genuinely hard corps, real-deal, outlaw bikers. Even among the self-described 1%ers, though, these guys are a small subset of the subculture. Most Hells’ Angels, Pagans, Outlaws, Bandidos, etc. have day jobs and are married with kids. They like to play badass on the weekends and intimidate people with their cute little vests. Back in my former life, I arrested a leader in a well-known 1% biker gang who was shop foreman at a major manufacturing site. Union member, pension, 401k, health insurance. That’s not the “outlaw” lifestyle that began in these clubs in the 60’s. Those guys sold dope, whores, guns, and stolen bikes for a living.
I have to take a quick stab at the “human trafficking” thing, too. There’s no such thing as voluntary human trafficking. That’s just silly.

Nope, that’s prostitution. It’s horrible, unfortunate, unfair, inhumane, etc., but it’s voluntary. That’s not to say that it would be impossible for some creative (and politically ambitious) young AUSA to indict your Madame Soong, but the whole human trafficking thing is just another cause du jour. All of the elements of human trafficking (coercion, extortion, kidnapping, prostitution, money laundering, conspiracy, tax evasion, etc.) have been illegal for many years.
