… OR, “NOT”

|| By FITSNEWS ||  Two governors, a sitting U.S. Senator and the only female “Republican” running for president would not be allowed to participate in the first Fox News GOP presidential debate, according to reporter Steven Shepard of Politico.

Fox will reportedly be using the “average of the five most recent national polls” to determine which ten candidates are permitting to grace the stage in Cleveland, Ohio on August 6.  According to Shepard, Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina wouldn’t make the cut as things stand now.

Nor would governor John Kasich – whose state is hosting the event.

Who would make the cut?  Former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Wisconsin governor Scott Walker, U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, U.S. Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, former Arkansas governor (and ex-Fox News host) Mike Huckabee, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, New Jersey governor Chris Christie, former Texas governor Rick Perry and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum.

Billionaire real estate mogul and reality television star Donald Trump hasn’t been included in the polling Fox News is using, however if he enters the race he would likely qualify for the debate – meaning one of the aforementioned candidates would get bumped.

“If there is an apparent tie for (tenth) place, we will examine the more granular data to determine who is ahead,” Fox told Politico.  “If it’s an absolute tie, we will add a podium.”

Right.  Because additional hot air is clearly going to be needed on that stage …

Here’s our question: Do crowded primary debates really matter?

Seriously … what are we supposed to learn from two hours of men in suits and ties talking over one another about who loves America (and hates Barack Obama) most?

All will try to weave in the most compelling, self-serving anecdotes from their personal narratives.  They’ll reference their faith and their families.  They’ll talk about where they’re from.  And of course there will be dozens of poll-tested one-liners and carefully researched/ rehearsed sound bytes “full of sound and fury.”

But what will we actually learn?

America desperately needs a real debate: One in which each candidate answers the following three questions …

1) How much of the people’s money are you going to spend?

2)  What are you going to spend it on?

3) Where are you going to collect it from?

Those three questions should tell voters pretty much everything they need to know about a candidate: How big he or she thinks government ought to be, what its core functions ought to be, and how best those functions ought to be funded.

The rest really is just window dressing, when you think about it …

There is this pesky document that requires money bills to originate in the House of Representatives not the White House. Then you need authorization and appropriation. A Congressional function. Seems you are addressing the wrong people. Now it is a fair question to ask what are you priorities to ask Congress to fund..

That’s a fair description of what the GOP stands for: “…men in suits and ties talking over one another about who loves America (and hates Barack Obama) most?” Throw in tax breaks for the rich and anti-Muslim hysteria and that’s the package.

You could be right to a lesser extent.

In this line-up, there are only a few who will denigrate Obama directly. Christy, Karl Rove’s meat puppet and possibly Huckabee and Santorum.

They can’t answer question 1 and 2 because thy are not the ones who make those decisions. If you want the answer to questions 1 and 2 you will need to ask Messrs.’ Koch and the defense contractors.
I can give you the answer to question three. We need to cut taxes on the job creators (i.e. rich people). But we can’t sacrifice our defense or energy needs. The cuts will likely produce more revenue (not); but if they do not (they won’t) we will need to make up for any short fall by cutting, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamp, and education; or by razing taxes on the middle income Americans who have been living on the backs of the job creators..

Agreed. Maybe do away with all the candidates and ask the Koch’s the questions, as the candidates will likely be looking offstage at them for ‘their’ answers anyway?

As FastEddy already noted above, the Koch’s aren’t even in the same neighborhood as the dems when it comes to campaign donations. Why do you people always bring them up and never bring up the lackeys for the Democrats? Not to mention the Kochs’ are liberals regarding abortion and gay marriage.

Who cares what they are liberals on? They are not spending money on those issues. They want to control the next President so they can make money. They want to cut taxes on the rich especially themselves. They want to gut the EPA, so they can pollute to their hearts content. They want the government to back the Keystone XL pipeline, because they will make money on it.

No one will spend anywhere close to what the Koch’s and their affiliated organizations plan to spend on the upcoming presidential election. They have already committed to to spend one billion dollars on a single election!!!

Yes, you both are correct. It is all about control of the High Chair and The IRS/Tax Code(s).

?? The Koch Brothers ?? Don’t you pay attention to the big time PAC contributors? Of the top ten PAC contributors, seven are unions and the others include Goldman Sacks-of-it and AT&T.

(The Koch Brothers are on the PAC lists too … at number 47. Google it and stop embarrasing yourself and your axe grinder.)

BS. the Koch Brothers and affiliated organizations have promised to raise and expend one billion dollars to sway the election their way. There is no one else planning to spend anything close to what they are. You guys can try to hide and obfuscate all you want, but in the end, anyone with a brain can see who is spending money on buying the Presidency.

You’re going to have to watch the debate in a special theater… a 360 degree, surround… headphones with emergency mute buttons… vomit bags.. and a team of physicians and a fleet of ambulances outside.

TBG believes there is a dongle that he can add to the ol’ 4G Eco-friendly, HI-DEF, sodium and gluten free, Super Doppler, VIPER, 360 degree, polarized, oscillating, wireless, mobile, MOS-DEF, green, NOAA licensed, nanotechnology driven, diverse, OSHA approved, GPS enabled, 32 bit, mega-giga-terabyte, integrated, non aerosol, solid state, WIFI compatible, plasma, sustainable, ultra sharp, razor thin, flat screen RADAR storm tracker (with FUTURECAST and Dolby 10 Surround Sound) Platform that will allow this.

Prolly have to update the drivers also.
