South Carolina ain’t big enough for two law schools anyway (let alone two medical colleges).
Looks like that non-state supported law college ain’t working out – ain’t that what FITS has been preaching all along anyway?

What you want to bet that FITS ends up sending his kids to a state suppported college???? if they do he should refuse to take the state supported funding and give it back to the Great state of South Carolina!!!

“Free market,” lol! This school would have never seen the light of day if not for government intervention (i.e., federal student loan programs). No one in their right mind would privately finance CSOL degrees at the ridiculous cost they charge.
Yet another “free market!” person who wants to take government benefits while scoffing at government regulation.
Law school ruined my life! I have no job and I have student loan debt that will follow me to my grave. Save yourself! DO NOT GO TO LAW SCHOOL.

CSOL has produced both good lawyers, and not so good, but this is true of every law school. The truth is that all law school really does is qualify students to take the bar. After that, whether the law school graduate becomes a good lawyer or one who is not so good has more to do with their experience, environment, work ethic, intelligence, ethics, and training on the job. You can’t really get these things in law school, no matter what you pay. A good question is how many new lawyers are needed. Another good question is whether the quality of an existing law school diminishes where it has no instate competition. Frankly, it my opinion that it has been a good thing overall that for the last twelve years, South Carolina has had two law schools. While it may be true that two law schools are educating more lawyers than can successfully compete for jobs in this state, this helps assure that only the better ones will succeed. This is not a bad thing, either, If CSOL does announce its closure next week, I think it will overall be a bad thing both for the state judicial system and the Charleston area economy.
Where do failed lawyers end up?
Politics.
The loans are a huge problem, as the only people that go to CSOL are out of state idiots who don’t know its reputation, state politicians and their kids and rich idiots that can’t get into USC. Currently I need to hire a lawyer for my firm. All I do is real estate. I have talked to a couple of people at CSOL and one at Charlotte Law School. I offered $45000 plus a large bonus based on willingness to work and the ability to bring in business. After three months of training, anyone with half a brain would be making around $65000 or so. Each person said that they needed to make $70000 to start because they have $200000 of loans from law school and their spouse doesn’t work, they have kids blah blah blah. So fuck CSOL and their graduates. Let it disappear into the ether and let its graduates either work their ass off like I did and earn their money or get into another line of work.
Maybe Furman can open a law school, too…

Sorry but they have got to be printing money over there. Will not believe otherwise until they show tax returns to the contrary. That said, they should be able to sell to any non terrorist organization that they want, and the folks that don’t like it can start their own school and/or eat a turd sandwich

Wtf kind of alternative reality is Fits living in? Free market jobs? The VAST majority of CSOL’s income comes in the form of federally guaranteed student loans. The average CSOL graduate has $146k in federally guaranteed debt. Multiply that by 150 graduates per class, and you’ve got $21 million per year in federal loans to create “dozens” of jobs. Over 12 years, we’re talking about $262 MILLION dollars in federal loans given to the school.
So on the one hand, Fits celebrates the continuation of a law school that has received $262 million in federal student loan dollars over 12 years, has put hundreds, if not thousands, of people in debt and made their lives worse-all because the law school has created DOZENS of “free market” jobs.
YET, on the other hand Fits cries its eyes out about SC giving Volvo $121 million in incentives to create FOUR THOUSAND jobs, and countless more jobs for other suppliers.
Has Fits given up completely on consistency or is some of that $25 million in student loan dollars squirreled away by the CSOL founders finding its way into Sic’s pocket?
Folks is the intellectual equivalent of a high school junior who has just read Atlas Shrugged for the first time. He spends his limited brainpower trying to force everything in to the Randian/Libertarian paradigm. These are the predictable, muddled results.
Common sense–go out of business & call it a day.
Why did George Kosko have nothing to say. He just stood there with that stupid look on his face. Oh he did mutter under his breath as he walked away…….. if Fritz Hollings was still in charge I would have made millions off this deal!
This law school is so unnecessary.
It’s necessary to line Carr and Kosko’s wallets, but that’s about it.
