MARLINS’ SLUGGER HITS A HOME RUN OUT OF DODGER STADIUM …
|| By FITSNEWS || It’s been a rough year for our founding editor Will Folks and his FITS Lollygaggers fantasy baseball team – which captured its first-ever Great Santini League championship in 2014.
This year the Lollygaggers have been getting crushed …
Second-round pick Corey Kluber is 0-5 with a 5.04 ERA. Seventh-round pick Alex Cobb is out for the year … having not thrown a single pitch. Meanwhile fourteenth round pick Steve Cishek is on the way out as the Miami Marlins’ closer after blowing his fourth save of the year.
Not good.
Still … our love of the game transcends our selfish desire to repeat as champions, which is why we are pausing today to admire one of the sweetest home run shots we’ve ever seen.
In the top of the first inning of the Miami Marlins game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Marlins’ 25-year-old right fielder Giancarlo Stanton unloaded on an 85 mile per hour cutter from Dodgers’ pitcher Mike Bolsinger.
Here’s what the shot looked like …

Wow …
The ball reportedly left Stanton’s bat at 114 miles per hour and traveled 475 feet (making it the third-longest home run of the year).
Also, as a pro tip for young players … note how Stanton quickly jogged around the bases so as not to “show up” Bolsinger after his mammoth blast. Dude has skill … and class.

I haven’t seen balls that deep since 1972.

Real baseball news is Pete Rose on Fox Sports 1.
That’s quite a title. After the “mismatched libidos” piece, I was expecting a different story altogether.
pretty good!
