I see a spike in airplane tickets to Mexico or Jamaica, a visit “down the valley road” to “Granny So & So” and increased travel to New England for some South Carolina females of child bearing demographic in the near future………………
Then again, if Rep Hicks is serious, she could legislate that stations be established at the South Carolina state line and at airports, bus & train stations to make every woman between the ages of 12 – 50 years old submit to a pregnancy test or quick physical exam………….
Wouldn’t take long, those “piss & see” pregnancy tests only take a few minutes and even less for a quick check for a “baby bump”

Once you are pregnant, you already have a baby.
It take force to end the pregnancy. it’s the pro abortionists that advocate force.

Was it Ronald Reagan who observed that most advocates of abortion have already been born?

I think it was SNL who observed that if men could get pregnant, abortion clinics would be like Starbucks. There would be 2 on every block and 4 in every airport.

There’s a “fundamental hypocrisy at work” in calling yourself “pro-life” when you are pro-death penalty and pro-bombing other countries. So let’s call Hicks what she is: Pro-forced birth.

So, you must be pro-abortion, for the death penalty and for bombing other countries. You’re not a hypocrite. But if you’re for abortion and against the other two, you are a hypocrite. Just following your own logic.

Not “pro-abortion”, but “pro-choice”. There is a difference. Your interpretation of logic is seriously flawed. But I’d give you thumbs up if you cared about the babies after they were born.

You and Taliban’s views are repeated so often without even thinking. It is easier to call someone a “hypocrite” or say their “interpretation of logic is seriously flawed” and not bother to offer any explanation.

First, you feel uncomfortable defending abortion. You erroneously lump the pro-life with death penalty and bombing advocates and attack them. That way the issue is diverted from abortion.

You make a big mistake by connecting the issues of abortion, capital punishment and waging war. The obvious connection they have is that all three involve killing. By making that connection, you admit that abortion is killing.

With the words “illogical and hypocrite” you try to sweep under the rug the obvious difference between abortion, capital punishment and war. The difference is that no one disputes the innocence of the unborn child.

First of all, you don’t have a clue as to what I think or how I think. If I was involved with the individuals deciding on an abortion, the choice would be difficult, but that is my decision to make– not yours. I don’t believe life begins at conception, I believe it begins when the fetus can survive outside the womb.
I did notice you didn’t make any reference to caring for the babies after they were born.
I don’t connect the issues of abortion, capital punishment and waging war, but since you brought it up. My problem with capital punishment is– the right verdict isn’t always made. It’s a game with the prosecutors and police to “win” at all costs, stretching the facts to make it fit. But some criminals do deserve to die, but who are we to judge. Not to mention the wasted dollars in pursuing the death penalty.
Waging war is waste of taxpayer dollars. It’s one thing to defend our country. It’s another to impose our will on others, which is why the middle east is a mess.

“I don’t believe life begins at conception, I believe it begins when the fetus can survive outside the womb.”

I take that statement as progress. With modern medicine a fetus can survive at about 20 weeks after conception. So you believe life begins at 20 weeks. It seems odd to define life based on the progress of science. Perhaps in the future a fetus can survive at sixteen weeks.

As for babies after they are born, the infant mortality rate in the US is about 6 per thousand. I support any effort to reduce it any further, but compared with about 180 abortions per thousand pregnancies and 200 miscarriages, a lot more progress can be made in those areas.

We do have some common ground. I have no issue with banning abortions after 16-20 weeks of pregnancy. I have a problem with banning abortions and/or making the women jump through hoops to have one if that is their CHOICE prior to 16 weeks, 20 weeks or whatever reasonable time frame.
I’m not a doctor or a scientist, but if you say they can survive at 20 weeks ok.
The meaning of after the children are born doesn’t relate to infant mortality. Most here (in SC) don’t care about providing a quality education, providing necessary nutrional support, etc. Kids have no control over their parents, but receive the brunt of the legislation against benefits while the top 1% of taxpayers receive tax cut after tax cut after tax cut.

Most courts define viability at about 25 weeks. The article just published is based on a New England Journal of Medicine article on survival rates and out comes at 22 weeks.

“471 abortions were not reported” – well, yeah, but those were for daughters of State Reps, State Senators and a bunch of preachers up in Greeneville, Spartanburg and Lexington. And let’s not forget the ones for the little wealthy girls going to Clemson.

It’s not that only blacks are on welfare, and the rest, it’s that per capita they utilize the safety net and abortion clinics more than any other race.

That’s why I’m for keeping the abortion clinics open.
