GOVERNOR DOLING OUT BIGGER SALARIES TO STAFFERS
|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. governor Nikki Haley blistered “Republican” House members last weekend on a host of items – including a vote last year to give themselves pay raises.
We pointed out at the time that Haley doled out massive salary increases to her staff upon taking office in 2011.
Well guess what … those salaries are now even bigger (and we’re not even counting the generous benefits package each employee receives from taxpayers).
Haley’s new chief of staff – James Burns – makes $130,000 a year, which is $5,000 more per year than previous chief of staff Tim Pearson. Haley’s chief legal counselor Swati Patel is also making more money – getting $114,811 a year compared to the $102,000 she was making in 2011.
Those increases may not seem like much, but let’s not forget they come on top of 27.5 percent and 36 percent raises each position received (respectively) upon Haley taking office.
Other staffers are also now raking in bigger bucks.
Policy advisor Josh Baker – who made $60,000 in 2011 – is making $90,000 now. Haley’s primary spokesman Rob Godfrey is making $89,000 – up from $65,000 in 2011. Meanwhile Katherine Veldran – Haley’s legislative liaison (and Pearson’s latest love interest) – makes $81,600 compared to her 2011 salary of $65,000.
Haley’s deputy chief of staff Katherine Haltiwanger has seen her salary climb, too – from $80,000 to $89,090.
Former S.C. governor Mark Sanford had eight employees who made $50,000 or more – and only one (himself) who made more than $100,000. Haley has twelve employees making $50,000 or more. And while that’s the same number as 2011, she’s piled even more even money on top of what were already exorbitant salary increases to these employees.
Now … does that sound like the sort of politician who should be lecturing others about pay raises? Especially as South Carolinians’ incomes remain stagnant?
No … although legislators obviously have zero room to talk when it comes to excessive staff salaries.

I saw the Marchant article too, but interesting I can find nothing on Pearson on the internet after he managed Gov. Haley’s campaign. I see his Twitter profile, but it’s almost like he doesn’t even exist now?
When FITS was named CD for Sanford, he received a DRASTIC cut in pay to show how “Frugal” Sanford is…
Then couple months later, Sanford reached around from behind, and gave FITS – who had NO experience, and even less talent – more of the peoples’ money…
So it’s kinda difficult to much credence in anything FITS says about Haley, regarding payoff to staffers…

Once again Folks ignores the effects of inflation. In order to compare Sanfraud era salaries to Haley era salaries you have to use the same dollar basis. Only after you perform that computation can you compare apples to apples.
So it’s your contention that the inflation rate is 10%, 20%, or even 30%-40%? It’s obvious the Haley staffers’ salaries far exceed the previous administrations, despite her lip service to being a conservative.

I did not say that the current salaries exceeded the rate of inflation. My point is that you have to judge things based on a common dollar. The Sic Willie’s of the world intentionally ignore that so they can inflate the percentages and say the sky is falling.

That’s some serious inflation. And at least 2 of those individuals named were on Sanford’s staff at one time….making CONSIDERABLY less.
Politicians and government workers should be given one thing, and that it not a pay raise. All of them should be put on short leashes and subjected to constant supervision. These mongrels, from the governor down require constant correction and discipline.
So by “government workers” you mean “state workers”. You don’t think that anyone who works for the state or any state entity should get a pay raise.

Considering we do not know if these raises also included additional duties, salary corrections, etc… I don’t have an issue with any of these raises.

The little people continue to pay and suffer at the hands of the elite class and their friends. It matters not if it is Washington, Columbia, or the Counties , or Town Halls. The Clintons, the Obamas, the Haleys, the Fraziers, Halfacres, Wilsons, Peelers ,Leathermans, Martins, Harrells, Eckstroms are all the same self serving, self aggrandizing, narcissist and their contributors are all benefiting from their contributions and elections.
Our Founding Fathers never intended this, a professional class of politicians, Dynasties with a privileged class, that the underclass, the peasants, the commoners pay homage to and support with their toil!

Why diss haley when the legislators get money for nothing get retirement for nothing get benefits for nothing, if you think they work then you’re mistaken. They work to get their pay more by hook or crook. Haley can’t be reelected unless to a higher office. But Sanford is a congressman-how soon we forget.
These pay raises are nothing compared to Laurens County Development Corporation raises. They are through the roof. Why don’t other workers get this kind of raise? Four thousand for catered meals? One thousand a month, plus a government car? Be real. This is plain wrong. Is this legal? Thank God for new county council leader Joe Wood and Stuart Jones. They do right.

I heard them brag about how they didn’t have to pay their employees much and that their staff was honored to just have the chance to work for them. They got what they paid for.
