GOOD RIDDANCE …

|| By FITSNEWS || A bill to hike the state of South Carolina’s minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour is one of many pieces of legislation unlikely to advance through the S.C. General Assembly in 2015.   The Democratic proposal is languishing in the”Republican-controlled” S.C. House of Representatives – and with a key”crossover” deadline now passed, it faces an uphill battle just to be heard in the State Senate (assuming it even gets a vote in the House).

After May 1, legislation seeking to “cross over” from one chamber of the S.C. General Assembly to the other must receive a two-thirds vote from the receiving chamber … just to be heard.

That’s a huge barrier to passage …

For the record, we have consistently rejected efforts by government to arbitrarily impose wage levels on the private sector.

“Government has no business defining such a standard in the free market – or compelling its enforcement,” we wrote last year.  “Wages should be based on what the market will bear – anything else is socialism.”

Nonetheless South Carolina Democrats – led by State Senator John Scott and Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter – followed the lead of president Barack Obama at the federal level and pushed state-level wage hikes.

“We want to get the community back to a point that those who are the least of us, be able to put them in a position they can afford to do some things,” Scott told WSPA TV 7 (CBS – Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.) reporter Robert Kittle earlier this year.

Really?

Last time we checked black politicians didn’t give a damn about the “least of us.”  In fact they invariably march in lockstep with a failed status quo that holds them back … and go out of their way to attack anyone who does give a damn about the “least of us.”

Oh, and before you presume this website is all about the “Republican” majority blocking this wage hike … check yourself.

We oppose their handouts, too …

Your wage is generally determined by the demand for your skills. Since SC is one of the three poorest states, with the lowest wages outside of MS and West Vagina, then Hell no we shouldn’t increase the minimum wage. Most of our citizens are obviously low-skilled and worthless, why would you give them a raise. I say kick them out of the state all together. Maybe they could move to Georgia.

SC is a GREAT state for the most part. I LOVE it..Republicans just blocked a gas tax and pi$$#d off the Democrats. Last year, we defunded a gay propaganda campaign at CofC and obliterated a hate-filled Womens studies program at USC-U…

And SC is growing, while liberal Rust Belt states, shrink….

When SC lags…. It’s the Democrats who F*#k it up…..Who rules – and has ruled for generation after generation – in the Corridor of Shame?….

Quit swilling the DNC Kool-Aid…And do your homework Dumb@$$…lest you look like a F*#king idiot…AGAIN….LMAO…

Third lowest wages in America – consistently votes law makers who are GOP. Need we say more. Not all parts of the state get to suck off the state government tit like Irmo, Chapin and Lexington.

Wait a sec. there GT: “Indeed, since 2010, jobs have expanded in energy, manufacturing, logistics and, with the return of the housing market in some areas, construction. Although much of the expansion has taken place in the sunbelt, notably Texas, the rustbelt economy has also been a prime beneficiary. Of the top ten states for new plants in 2010, five were in the rustbelt—led by second place (after Texas) Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana.

Most impressively, there has been a revival of job growth in these areas. Between 2009 and 2013, rustbelt cities and states dominated the country’s industrial revival. At the top of the list is Michigan, which gained 88,000 industrial jobs, a performance even greater than that of Texas, which came in second. The next three leading beneficiaries are all rustbelt states: Indiana, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

For much of the past half century, the rustbelt states suffered high levels of unemployment. But today Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin have considerably lower rates of unemployment than the national average, and considerably less than California, Georgia, Nevada, New Jersey, and New York.”

Any statistical-based info. is VERY suspect – if not blatantly faked – in the era of fraudulent government numbers, that began w/ Obama…Obama claimed he’d created a multitude of jobs in SC-25 Congressional District…a while back. That’s typical for his administration…

You say it.. so it’s true…if you’re a liberal…whereas you are ignorant to reality

I just know SC picked up a Congressional seat…where some liberal states are bleeding population…and if they grow, it’s by illegal immigration…that is bankrupting them financially, as much as they are morally…

easterndumbfuckistan May 1, 2015 at 5:46 pm

Obama claimed he’d created a multitude of jobs in SC-25 Congressional District

SC-25 is not a CONGRESSIONAL district. We only have 7 of those SC-1 through SC-7.

It could be a South Carolina house district in Greenville County, or a South Carolina Senate district in Aiken, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick & Saluda Counties. Neither of these has much to do with the new congressional district however.

Republicans replace teaching safe sex with teaching abstinence only. Teen pregnancies skyrocket.

Republicans outlaw abortion and emergency contraceptives. Teen pregnancies are carried to term.

Republicans cut food stamps and welfare programs. Teen moms must now make up for the loss in aid by working longer shifts or taking multiple jobs, if they have not done so already.

Republicans cut minimum wage. Teen moms are paid even less and must work even more hours or even more jobs to make ends meet.

Republicans spend taxpayer money on vouchers for private schools. Teen moms are forced to choose between cheap and terrible private schools or the seriously underfunded public schools for their kids.

Republicans cut environmental regulations. Teen mothers have to worry about contaminants in their water and air and how it might affect their kids.

Republicans lower taxes on the rich. Teen mothers unknowingly end up paying more taxes they can’t afford.

Teen mom’s kid grows up to be 15 years old, receives abstinence-only education, ends up having sex anyways, pops out a kid of their own.

Cycle repeats until Idiocracy isn’t just a movie anymore. Corporate world rejoices as the supply of cheap, expendable unskilled labor multiplies exponentially.

I think they should lower the Minimum wage. That way the ‘job creators’ can have more money and the evil poor people can look even lazier when then can’t afford luxuries like rent and food.

I dunno pretend to know what the hell happened in the deep South, but I do think it made many lazy.

Here’s one example what happens when you have gov’t mandated minimum wage:

http://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2015/05/what-mcdonalds-is-doing-as-san.html

Other examples include off-shoring and destruction of workplace learning for those of low skill so that they become permanently unable to become gainfully employed…generational welfare recipients.

Reply
SYNTwist May 1, 2015 at 6:26 pm

I don’t really like to go there – “welfare recipients” that is a bit too much of a wedge issue.

I do agree with you are the McDonald’s. I’ve been to CA and even places in FL where a burger is $8 and that was YEARS ago, no idea how much they cost now, probably $12?

In cases like that, unless you are in dire need (i.e. airport), most of us would cook at home. It only take a few minutes to get my grill hot ;)

As a retiree I don’t understand why there is not a stampede of working class people out of this state. I understand that the cost of living is low here and that taxes are miniscule, but come on! My guess is that working folks are stuck here by ownership of homes that are under water taxwise, kids in schools they don’t want to leave and the closeness of relatives living nearby (and likewise trapped).
And a governor who doesn’t give a damn about anything but her own upward mobility and a legislature held captive by No New Taxes zealots.
Americans used to stampede to greener pastures. Think the gold rush, and the post-Revolution era.
America used to be such a more exciting place! New ideas! Turmult, sure, but a bursting enthusiasm for getting ahead. Not nitpicking even though there was out-front antagonism toward Irish and Chinese, but that was more honest that what we see today.
Bigots used to put No Irish signs in their store windows. At least that was straight-forward
Enough from me. America 2015 sucks
