SERIOUSLY … WHO WANTS IT AT A “MODERATE PACE?”

|| By FITSNEWS || While U.S. president Barack Obama eyes his next gig, the economy he’s “stimulated” continues limping along …

According to the Federal Reserve – which has done its fair share of “stimulation” – the country’s “economic growth slowed during the winter months.”

Ummm … ya think?

“The pace of job gains moderated, and the unemployment rate remained steady,” the central bankers noted.  “A range of labor market indicators suggests that underutilization of labor resources was little changed.”

Again … tell us something we don’t know.

Despite the disturbing start to the year, the money printers are optimistic that we can go from zero growth back to anemic growth.

“Although growth in output and employment slowed during the first quarter, the committee continues to expect that, with appropriate policy accommodation, economic activity will expand at a moderate pace,” they predicted.

Ah yes … a “moderate pace.”

As we wrote in response to the abysmal gross domestic product (GDP) data release this week, the current lack of growth America is experiencing is part of a broader, increasingly worsening downturn.  America’s economy hasn’t grown at an annual rate of three percent in ten years.  It hasn’t hit four percent growth in fifteen years.  And it hasn’t hit five percent growth in more than thirty years.

By contrast, growth exceeded five percent in twelve out of thirty years from 1950-1980.  And it exceeded four percent in seventeen out of those thirty years.

We’ve said it before, we’ll say it again: Until our leaders reverse course and engage the free market – not more wealth redistributioncrony capitalism, welfare statism and global interventionism – don’t expect anything to change. In fact expect things to get worse.

Or get better at a “moderate pace.”

Correct. The gap in that growth rate of 4+% happened during the Johnson higher tax years.

Of interest: the Kennedy tax cuts caused the beginning boost in growth, but Johnson killed it.

Thank god you nuts are finally starting to see the light. The golden age of America was 1940 to 1980. The middle class boomed and with it the economy. Its time to go back, to an economy focused on making the average American successful. Its time to get rid of the trickle down policies designed to redistribute wealth upward, and which have so miserably failed this country. The vast majority of us would benefit from returning to the tax and financial regulatory system laws of the 1960s.

No it wasn’t me. Of course, comparing the 1980s to the 2015 is a lot like comparing the Civil War with the Spanish Ameriacn War – apples to oranges. I’m sure even Reagan would agree. BTW – please stop getting your information from places like the Gaeway – that echo room is what had you convinced Romney was going to win by a landslide. How did that work out for you?

GrandTango April 30, 2015 at 10:18 am

I know…Rocky…Everybody is a Dumb@$$ but the DNC, Rachel Madcow and Hillary…

All because Obama somehow was able to F*#k America…and inexplicably win in 2012….despite a HORRIBLE first term…and make you right for the first (and only) time in your life…

Rocky April 30, 2015 at 10:29 am

Yesterday I pointed out your blog was an economic loss – no revenue less server subscription loss – so that’s two times I was right.

GrandTango April 30, 2015 at 10:41 am

I did EVERYTHING I wanted to do w/ it. I won..so – you were WRONG – yet again…

Rocky April 30, 2015 at 11:26 am

Well I’m glad you did everything you wanted to do with it. I didn’t question that. Just the economics of it.

GrandTango April 30, 2015 at 11:46 am

You don’t know if I was paid or not? That level of quality – and the organic appearance of it – ain’t cheap. LMAO…

Rocky April 30, 2015 at 12:36 pm

Supported by a paying investor – maybe. Ad revenue – outside of Joey’s Garage – no.

GrandTango April 30, 2015 at 1:29 pm

I accused you of being paid…and you deny it. But if I let on I may have received compensation, before a general election, to promote certain candidates…you can’t conceive of it….

It’s no wonder you are susceptible to the myths of the Democrat Party…no matter how opposite reality…

GrandTango April 30, 2015 at 7:46 am

LMAO…when you get the S#!t slapped out of you with REALITY…you ALWAYS revert to he canned lies and myths, that help you hang on, as the ship goes under….Hahahaha…

Happy Titanic Day…Dumb@$$….Sucks to be you…and the Democrat Party…

Yeah but you know America, we like to shoot ourselves in the foot (1930’s crash), then re-load and shoot ourselves in the other one.

Don’t worry though, as long as you have a lazy couple of million sitting around, you can curry favor with your elected reps to get some nice little tax perks and other sweeteners to make life better for ya.

Do mind the 99% though as they tend to be sensitive about these sorts of things.

You and Jack are right. This is why folks have stopped trying so hard to get here.

Limbaughsaphatkhunt April 29, 2015 at 10:59 pm

Fair point but really what your describing is a situation where people who live in totally shit countries are trying to get to a country headed towards the shit. It’s out of the frying pan into a lukewarm fire.

Mexicans have to choose b/w corrupt, war torn and drug riddled latin american countries to their south or the relative peace and prosperity of the land of the gringos to their north.

Last I checked, Europeans or Canadians aren’t desperately trying to get here.

Mike at the Beach April 29, 2015 at 11:11 pm

You’re right that it might not be “desperate,” but the last time I checked the visa / citizenship app numbers the ratio was crazy tilted toward folks coming here (by the tens / hundreds of thousands). As I often say about our criminal justice system, it’s simultaneously fucked up *and* the best in the world. Ditto for our form of government and economic structure.

Limbaughsaphatkhunt April 29, 2015 at 11:24 pm

Disagree with you there. Research clearly shows other countries (western ones mind you) have better economies, governance, health care, correctional systems and the like than the US.

However, does that mean the US is as bad as Yemen? Not at all. I always say that America is a good country, but it could be a great country if it wanted to.

Mike at the Beach April 29, 2015 at 11:49 pm

Disagree right back at you- the “research” is usually compiled in the form of lists that rate all of those factors using a crazy hodge-podge of subjective methodologies. If they were accurate, Americans would be headed to Europe, not the other way around. That’s just the ground truth. Of course, we’re not #1 in every category, I’m talking about the totality of the system. It’s a fact of life- people still come here more than any other country in the world. There has to be a reason for that, right? It sure as hell isn’t our PR machine. I’ve lived and worked in lots of those countries, and some are great; others are not. None of them beat our system in toto, or folks would be going there. Humans have strong survival instincts, and vote with their feet.

Limbaughsaphatkhunt April 30, 2015 at 12:06 am

which ranking would you like me to tackle first my good man? I will provide links as well.

Mike at the Beach April 30, 2015 at 12:13 am

No need…I’ve seen your lists and read even more on my own. Call me when the immigration numbers turn and those countries start having a problem like we do…

Limbaughsaphatkhunt April 30, 2015 at 12:30 am

To each his own…America is the go to nation sort of by default. We are geographically placed to be the dumping ground for folks all the way from the Rio Grande to Cape Horn.

Europe is a mish mash of countries where people can pick and choose. Europe (western that is) is inundated by migrants from Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe.

The interesting question would be to ask Africans, Middle Easterners, Mexicans and Eastern Europeans which country they’d like to move to if there were no geographic barriers.

Mike at the Beach April 30, 2015 at 2:02 am

True enough…I guess that’s we disagree (a bit). I still think that, all things being equal and in a situation where oceans weren’t in the way we would still win that popularity contest.

E Norma Scok April 30, 2015 at 10:22 am

Agree 100% with Mike. The only place I see US citizens moving is to some tropical island as an ex-pat (and they always come back to visit and complain how everything is expensive there), or some central American country where their housing complexes are guarded with machine gun armed guards. Sometimes they stay, sometimes they don’t. It is cheaper to live there.

I have never met anyone l fleeing to England, Italy, Germany or Spain.

FastEddy23 April 30, 2015 at 9:11 am

Close enough.

That would be from the 1938 tax cuts through to the 1977 tax cuts …

Have not had a decent one since.

“The vast majority of us would benefit from returning to the tax and financial regulatory system laws of the 1960s.”The golden age of America was 1940 to 1980”

From 1960-1964 the top tax rate was 91%. Up until about 1980 it was 70%. No effing thanks. source:

“The golden age of America was 1940 to 1980”

From a pure salary standpoint, anecdotally of course, I’m not sure this is true. From about 1997-present, I’ve made more than my father (a college educated engineer) did his entire life. I’m “rich” compared to him, even in 1975 dollars. And I ain’t rich, i promise. Of course, it could all go away tomorrow, but hey–it could have then, too.
