POLICE OFFICERS TARGETED … NATIONAL GUARD CALLED IN
|| By FITSNEWS || Violent gangs in Baltimore, Maryland targeted police officers and burned their vehicles – the latest demonstration of black rage against the city’s law enforcement community.
Meanwhile other protesters smashed windows with bricks, looted stores and set fires – scenes reminiscent of the racial violence that rocked Ferguson, Missouri last year.
Baltimore’s meltdown is in response to the death of Freddie Gray – a 25-year-old black man who sustained a fatal spinal injury while in police custody earlier this month. Many believe Gray was injured – and denied prompt access to medical attention – during what’s known as a “rough ride.” That’s the term given when police deliberately drive vans transporting prisoners in a rough and reckless manner so as to cause the prisoners injury.
According to The Baltimore Sun, a pair of suspects won lawsuits after being paralyzed during prior “rough rides.”
Six Baltimore police officers have been suspended in the aftermath of Gray’s death, while multiple investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Whatever happened to Gray, police in Baltimore are vowing to defend themselves against the gangs.
“This afternoon, a group of outrageous criminals attacked our officers,” Baltimore police captain Eric Kowalczyk said. “Right now, we have seven officers that have serious injuries, including broken bones, and one officer who is unconscious.”
According to Baltimore police, they received a “credible threat” that black gang members were planning to “take out” police officers.
Kowalczyk vowed to use “appropriate methods” to protect those officers – and the public.
Meanwhile Maryland governor Larry Hogan declared a state of emergency and activated the National Guard.
The conflagrations come just four days after protest leaders vowed that “no one has come to try and burn Baltimore down.”

They would not be doing that without cause. I am sure there is more to this story. People don’t just go out and start riots for no reason. Several officers were discharged, but that 25 year old is gone. I am going to look some more, but I am of the strong opinion this is not the first time the officers have used excessive force, why would they be mad enough to go to these lengths?
The fire fighters had nothing to do with it, so I do have a tendency to side with them and I am glad they got out.

It does not excuse the way they are behaving, but it does shed light on why they are behaving that way. Based on all that I have read, more than 100 lawsuits for police brutality, even a 911 dispatcher feels her son is safer with the “thugs” than with the police officers. The mayor tried to get legislation passed, but it didn’t pass.

They will now demand tax payers to repay what they destroyed and the same mayor was quoted (even though she claims she didn’t say it but there is actual video of her saying it) “For those who were looking to destroy, we gave them room to destroy”. The first brick used better come out of her salary to rebuild. I can attest to that. Even today, hanging in my house, is a water-color I picked up off a trash heap outside an art gallery on King Street. They were throwing it out, and it was actually in pretty good shape. So I kept it. It was just an abstract water color out of the studio, not a retail item. It was someone’s practice painting. The back was full of doodles. I passed a National Guard guy while carrying it back to the car on East Bay, and no one shot me. It wasn’t framed, just rolled up.

I didn’t see anything that carries a death penalty either, but I also see no reason to burn a CVS, Senior Center, and on top of burning them robbing liquor, and convenient stores . This was part frustration (the peaceful part) and everything else was nothing more than dumbasses trying to get free shit. I pissed so I am going to steal clothes, cell phones, alcohol, etc. Yep its a owed to them I guess. Especially the people that had never even met Freddie Gray, they deserve a carton of cigarettes too.
Agreed. There was no excuse for the looting. But it’s a typical pattern – violent demonstrations born out of frustration over a feeling of injustice, taken advantage of by criminals to loot. Happened in NYC in the 70s, in LA after Rodney King, Ferguson after that incident. Heck, it happened in Bengahzi. What kept it happening in North Charleston – quick action by the authorities to bring the police accountable. Heck – it’s been 10 days since the guy was killed in police custody – and they still have not answered the only question the community has – what happened?
In many countries, distribution of drugs carries a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng prison term and in several, the death penalty. Not suggesting that Mr. Gray deserved to die, rather that not everyone sees “a little weed” as a non-issue. The dangerous substance in this case wasn’t pot, it was a combination of Meth and Crack.
Agreed. My point was simply that based on US law, nothing he was guilty of carried a death penalty. But he’s not lilly white either – figuratively speaking.
