|| By FITSNEWS || The internet went ape poo this week over an Associated Press report claiming the U.S.S. Theodore Roosevelt was “steaming toward the waters off Yemen” for the purpose of intercepting Iranian ships.
Which, of course, would be a big deal … assuming your attention span is functioning properly.
The report – which quoted unnamed U.S. Navy officials – was promptly denied by the Pentagon, which is in the midst of conducting massive naval drills in the area.
According to the government, the Roosevelt – a Nimitz-class carrier first launched in 1984 – is in the area “to increase our presence as a result of the current instability in Yemen.” Nine other warships are also in the area, including the USS Iwo Jima – an amphibious assault ship.
Iran is suspected of sending arms to the Houthi rebels fighting in the Middle Eastern country – which U.S. personnel evacuated last month (leaving hundreds of millions of dollars worth of weapons behind).
“We have seen evidence that the Iranians are supplying weapons and other armed support to the Houthis in Yemen,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said this week. “That support will only contribute to greater violence in that country.”
Earnest bemoaned Iran “sending (the Houthis) large shipments of weapons.”
Really? What about the weapons we left there?
Anyway, the Houthis are currently being bombed by Saudi Arabia – using U.S. “logistical support.”
Ah yes, Saudi Arabia … our “partners in peace.”

“That support will only contribute to greater violence in that country.”
“So we’ve sent a carrier to visit even greater violence upon the situation to calm things down.”
Hey, we got all of these thirty year old aircraft carriers full of obsolete jets and, by golly, we’re gonna use ’em.
‘Sides, didn’t we just agree to agree to put something in writing maybe, for them Iranians that we are unshackling them to do as they please ?
“obsolete jets”… compared to what? 60 year old B-52’s and 40 year old A-10’s can do more damage than just off the line F-35’s and F-22’s. Throw in some 30 year old F/A-18’s, F-15’s for cover and not much is getting through.
Let’s not forget to give credit to the pilots…..
Yes. But the job at hand may require differentiation between The Ferrari (F18) and The Pickup Truck (A10) … or The Eighteen Wheeler (B52). … And don’t get me started on that useless F35.
Let’s face it – the US and its Proxy Israel have been at war with various Arab states and movements in the Middle East pretty much continuously since WW-2 ended, if not well before then. The “New” Hundred Years War.
The “American Raj”.
I’d watch out. The Iranian navy obliterated wooden mockups of US ships.
STOP – putting fear and dread in the hearts and minds of our civilian population..!!
LOLOLOL – the sad thing is, too many have no clue what he is even talking about. They comment repetitively, with little or no research. BT is to be taken serious guys!
LOL those damn wooden “mockup” US ships ;)
It’ll be tough, but we’ll manage.
Check out my tribute to the NC Obit.
Link?
ha! found it!
LMAO – still listening. Cross her off the list?
Let’s bomb somebody. Life is better when we’re bombing somebody. We need to bomb somebody. Let’s bomb Yemen. They’re a tough cookie. And let’s bomb Somalia – another tough customer. And Kenya, let’s bomb Kenya. And Egypt – we’ll just we it was an oops. Da boyz, gots da toyz, to make da noise.
Our nations new #1 export:
Bombs
See, American manufacturing isn’t dead and/or dying.
Mmmmmm … that ol’ “Wag The Dog” scenario used to work. Will it again? Oh Bummer?
Or is this yet another payback for Hillary’s end run around the IRS? … Keep the Saudi Bagmen happy with an old fashioned Teddy R. type showing of big sticks.
I got no problem with that. The best solution is typically through the process of elimination.
U.S. Warship Heading To Yemeni Waters To Intercept Iranian Weapons Shipments, Navy Officials Say. ……… WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. Navy officials say the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is steaming toward the waters off Yemen and will join other American ships prepared to intercept any Iranian vessels carrying weapons to the Houthi (HOO’-thee) rebels fighting in Yemen
Hey – Real News. Do you even know what the USS Theodore Roosevelt is besides big effing ship?
This is the second similar response by you. You come across as telling people they don’t know what they’re talking about, yet say nothing to support your comment. Are you one of those people who just likes to hear themselves talk?
Awww…and the 2nd similar response by you ;)
And you repeat your inability to make any sense.
turning plowshares into swords it seems….
And when the Navy gets done, they’ll have turned swords into anchors.
I see conspiracy, or crazy, all over this page. No one even knows what USS Roosevelt is or the capabilities. If so, someone would have responded by now.
People have views of the world based off personal experience – we all do. That is expected. What is unexpected and the reason we end up with all the conspiracy – lack of knowledge, reader’s deficit.
Why do you think that ship is there? What purpose does it serve? How can we reach people, as most say, thousands of mile away?
Look up the ship’s purpose, capabilities, and then talk about swords, anchors or plowshares. Otherwise it is babble.
If you’re so smart, why don’t you tell us.
Dang if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black. I’ve never known you to be lacking in opinions or expression therein.
I look at the picture and think, hmmm…that looks like an aircraft carrier, wonder how many sorties they can fly from there? Then comes to mind FDR and Desert Storm. So I actually go look it up. It makes conversation more intellectually stimulating when we do our own research. Here are two articles that might help:

Persian Gulf War
On 28 December 1990, Theodore Roosevelt and CVW-8 deployed for Operation Desert Shield, arriving in the Persian Gulf on 16 January 1991. With the commencement of Operation Desert Storm on 15 January 1991, Theodore Roosevelt began combat operations; eventually flying over 4,200 sorties (more than any other carrier) and dropping more than 4,800,000 pounds (2,177,243.4 kg) of ordnance before the cease-fire on 28 February.”

“The Roosevelt began steaming toward Yemen Sunday, said a Navy official who was not authorized to speak about the issue publicly. With the Roosevelt, the Navy now has nine warships off Yemen, the Navy official said. The Navy usually has amphibious ships for landing troops and gear in the region. The Roosevelt “significantly” adds to the Navy’s firepower there.”

So you can cut and paste… you still never explained why you’re upset that we don’t know the purpose of the ship. The fighter aircraft are for air defense for the carrier group, the attack aircraft are for blowing shit up. The ship is the platform for executing these missions.
