|| By FITSNEWS || Former Columbia, S.C. mayor Bob Coble was taken from the S.C. State House complex on a stretcher this afternoon.

Sources tell us Coble – a lobbyist for Boeing and other big-name corporate clients – was experiencing chest pains.

“I was in a committee meeting with him today, he looked terrible,” one lobbyist told FITS.

It’s not clear whether Coble suffered a heart attack, but that’s the early word from our sources.

A physician who was at the S.C. State House as the “Doctor of the Day” treated Coble prior to the arrival of paramedics – who took him to nearby Providence Hospital in downtown Columbia, S.C.

Coble was mayor of Columbia from 1990-2010.

Obviously we don’t agree with Coble on very much politically, but he’s an incredibly nice guy who has always been exceedingly kind to us (even when we were kicking his biggest client in the teeth).

Anyway, our thoughts and prayers go out to Coble and his family.  We hope he’s okay …

UPDATE: Coble’s employer, the Nexsen Pruet law firm, has issued a statement on his condition.  According to the firm, “doctors are performing tests, including a heart catheterization, to check for blockages. Coble is alert and in good spirits at this hour, with family and friends by his side.”

Mayor Bob is one of the finest persons around. Praying for him.

He may be a nice person, but he’s also still a lawyer, a politician, and a lobbiest… three of the lowest forms of life known to man.

Really? Not even close. The lowest form of life is cowardly, internet trolls like you. Own it, repent and hope you have enough life left to make up for at least some of the hurt you cause others.

I would, if I were a troll. Unfortunately everything I say can be backed up which irritates the hell out of people like you who live in a bubble.

Bubble? What bubble? Unlike you, I live in the real world and actually work! You are wrapped up in your bubble of ignorance and hate. Your delusions, assumptions and stereotypes are not reality. Get outside some, troll.

Squishy123 April 17, 2015 at 1:52 pm

So if I’m wrong, prove me wrong. The reason you sidestep and ignore my challenge is because you know you can’t back up anything and your comments are purely emotional.

I hear he wore out his body using that “Approved for Funding” stamp while he was mayor.

Only if it was for something unless like dog parks, skreet scapes, convention centers, midnight basketball and hug a thug programs. Actual spending needed for infrastructure and real public safety not so much.

Yes, yours is the malignant selfishness that is destroying this state and country. You and your ilk only care about yourselves. How could you possibly value good people who care about others. You are simply a bad person with a bad agenda.

It’s getting pretty bad when a postal worker has to use a gyrocopter to get a simple letter delivered to the President.

Good point
Trey Gowdy & Mark Sanfraud were probably hiding under their desks and had to be coaxed to come out from under them.
Plus like you posted, the letters were to be delivered to CONGRESS, not POTUS
CNN was all over this BTW
Looks to me like CNN has gone back to the old days of news reporting and not slanted/opinionated bullshit that is offered on Fox or MSNBC.
That being said, I still tune into MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” just to ogle Mika!!!!
i spend my alotted time (0700 – 0745 hrs.) between ogling Mika and switching to Imus in the Morning (which is the best weekday morning show on TV IMHO)

Yeah, a good and decent man, all right. He foisted Charlie Austin off on the City and its Police Department, costing taxpayers easily into the millions of dollars so he could keep the Black vote on his side. Great man, he is!

He’s a nice guy or so says everyone. That’s why everyone loves him. I don’t know him other than to shake his hand a couple of times at official functions. His actions indicated he’s either ethically challenged, so nice he can’t say no, or chronicly dumb.

He also had no problem telling whoppers, such as one function I was present at, when he was going around telling city employees of this “great” raise that was a “done deal” and coming soon. Needless to say, it never happened. I can’t recall if the raise was pre-empted by the “need” for his grandious convention center, or perhaps to settle one of Austin’s sexual harassment lawsuits which he was famous for generating because he couldn’t keep his Holy willie in his pants. Then again, maybe it went to one of Charlie’s numerous “studies”, which he just couldn’t seem to spend enough money on for every little thing that came up.

Is Mayor Coble associated with Coble’s Restaurant in downtown Columbia (if it is still there)?
I ate my last civilian meal there (using a government meal ticket) before being inducted at Ft. Jackson back in 1971.
Pretty good meat & 3 as I remember (funny how you remember something like that after almost 44 years!) But then again being inducted into the US Army back during Vietnam while the draft was still in effect was something that one never forgets
Noticed it was still there a number of years back on one of my VERY FEW times being in downtown Columbia.
Wouldn’t know the man if i bumped into him on the street but am wishing Mr. Coble a full recovery (unlike some asshole posters).

I guess he finally realized what that little skimming, for trolleys and other failed ideas, is finally going to cost the City. Chickens roosting, I say.

So your opinion is that his health troubles were caused by his “failed ideas,” and that this is a good thing. Ridiculous.
